CHAPTER 910: THE LAST MISSION: FACE TO FACE ENCOUNTER
Day Ninety-Six...
"Let’s call my Uncle!" Mia declared to them.
She used her phone and dialed Vincent’s number. Nathan, Ethan, and Mr. Hiroshi just watched the young girl in anticipation. They wondered if Vincent would answer the phone.
It rang a few seconds before the call got connected.
"Uncle Vincent!" Mia excitedly called him.
"Mia, Uncle is busy right now. May I call you again later? We will see each other in a while." Vincent reassured Mia.
He was now escorting Jane to the helipad. Her body was still in a state of paralysis because of the drug injected into her by Vincent. Her eyes lit up when Vincent mentioned Mia’s name.
"Can I talk to her?" Jane asked Vincent pleadingly.
Vincent nodded, putting the phone on loudspeaker mode.
"Uncle! Are you returning home? I’m not at home right now!" Mia’s voice echoed from the other line.
Vincent frowned at her last remarks. "Where are you?"
Before Mia could respond, Ethan snatched the phone from her hand and passed it over to his father.
"Dad, talk to him," the young boy insisted.
Nathan shook his head.
With no choice left, Ethan spoke to Vincent. "Uncle Vincent, it’s me, Ethan. Mia is with me. If you want to see her, please allow us to enter the building! Let us see my Mommy!"
Both Vincent and Jane were surprised when they heard Ethan’s voice. There was a hint of threat in his tone.
"Vincent, Mia is with Ethan right now. Please... allow them to enter the building."
The crease on Vincent’s forehead deepened further.
"Are you alone?" Vincent asked Ethan.
"No! I’m with my father. Please let the three of us enter the building, Uncle. Let’s talk this out peacefully." Ethan suddenly became the negotiator.
By this time, Vincent and Jane had reached the helipad, waiting for Marco to arrive.
"Vincent..." Jane called out to him. "I decided to come with you willingly because of Mia. Let me see her... Now."
Vincent could only sigh in defeat.
"Fine. Since you are all here, you can come, but under certain conditions..."
"Yes, Uncle!" Ethan continued calling Vincent ’Uncle’.
With that, Vincent enumerated his demands. Nathan, Ethan, and Mia were the only people allowed to enter the building. Nathan couldn’t bring any weapons. Nathan agreed instantly. He was eager to see Jane, making sure that she was just fine.
When Vincent ended the call, he glanced at Jane meaningfully. "Nathan and our children will come here to see you. I can kill Nathan and Ethan easily. Don’t forget we have a deal."
"I know. I will not break our deal," Jane reassured him. "Don’t hurt them."
He fell silent for a moment, contemplating. ’I wonder if I made the right decision. How did Mia get in here? Will Nathan use her to trade for Jane?’
He called Phoenix, giving him some instructions. It did not take long before Nathan and the two children showed up at the entrance of the building. Phoenix did a thorough body scan on Nathan, making sure he didn’t hide any weapon.
Phoenix and his men escorted them to the helipad.
"Mommy!" Ethan called out as soon as he saw Jane. She was sitting in a wheelchair while Vincent was standing behind her.
"Uncle!" Mia also yelled with an elated voice. However, she paused the moment she recognized the woman in the wheelchair. "Mommy? Is that you?" Mia blurted out.
Vincent had shown her Jane’s photo, telling her that the woman was her mother. Mia wanted to run to her but Ethan grabbed her elbow thus stopping her from taking another step.
"Let go of me. I want to go to my Mommy!" Mia tried to push Ethan but he held her tightly.
Even Nathan was surprised as to why Ethan had acted like that. ’Is my son planning to use Mia to negotiate with Vincent?’
Meanwhile, Jane felt so glad to see the three people close to her– Nathan and her children. Both Mia and Ethan were important to her. She loved them both.
"What did you do to her?" Nathan asked Vincent in his stern cold voice. He wondered if Jane was injured.
"Relax. I didn’t hurt her,"
Vincent replied.
Nathan didn’t believe him. He clenched his fists. He had the urge to punch Vincent and beat him there.
"Vincent, let me talk to them," Jane said.
Vincent was about to reply when suddenly the helicopter arrived. Nathan secured the two children in his arms while Vincent shielded Jane from the strong wind brought by the helicopter.
The helicopter being piloted by Marco slowly descended the helipad, its skids touching down and the roar of the rotor blades gradually softened. Vincent signaled Marco to wait as he allowed Jane to talk to Nathan and Ethan.
Vincent walked toward Nathan and the children.
"I will allow you to talk to her. But let me remind you... don’t do something reckless. You can’t escape here. I won’t hesitate to kill you," Vincent whispered to Nathan, threatening him.
Nathan didn’t respond to Vincent. He just shifted his gaze to his son.
"Ethan, let go of Mia now," he commanded his son. "Let’s go to your mommy."
Ethan bobbed his head frantically, releasing Mia.
"Mia, let’s wait for them to finish. We will go home with your Mommy!" Vincent said to Mia as he crouched down, gently patting her head.
Still looking at Jane, Mia obeyed Vincent. "Yes, Uncle. I can wait. I’m so excited to go home with Mommy. But Uncle, why is it Ethan is calling her Mommy as well?"
Vincent just pinched her nose and said, "I’ll explain to you later. Just stay with me. Okay?"
"Okay, Uncle!" Mia responded with an innocent smile on her face.
Meanwhile, Nathan and Ethan made their way toward Jane. However, before they could reach her, a figure suddenly jumped from the helicopter and grabbed Jane from behind. Before they could react, a syringe was pressed against her neck.
"Monica?" Both Nathan and Vincent uttered in disbelief.
"Well, well, well! What a touching family reunion. Haha. But I’m here to ruin it," Monica sneered before laughing sardonically. "Stop. Don’t move, or she’ll be dead in ten seconds. What I have here is a deadly poison... once injected into her body, she won’t survive past ten seconds."
