CHAPTER 27: CH 27: NEW QUEST

With the journalist taken care of, there was nothing else left for Cane to get done immediately. He had a full day to take in the sight of the city around him.

Which meant that it was time for him to start exploring the city and preparing for the stream tomorrow.

To keep his location a secret from those trying to harm him, he titled the stream as ’new quest’ and kept it on a timer.

Commenters and other people who wanted to know more about his schedule started to pile up and comment on his post.

But Cane replied to none of them. Finally, the time to start his quest came, and he got himself ready.

He hit the stream button, and the screen exploded with people.

There had been 10k people waiting for him to just start, and slowly, more poured in.

[HaremKing: Finally-! I thought I was going mad waiting for you to come back. So, what is this new quest about?]

[Heerafan: I came here for Lee Heera? Is she not doing a collab with you? When is your next collab stream?]

[Shura: Idiot, stop asking for collab. I am more interested to know what this ’new quest’ is about.]

Cane looked at the comments before he decided that it was time to reveal the new quest he was a part of.

"Welcome everyone, to my special stream. Today, I will show you a new quest that you might have never seen before."

Cane looked at the steadily rising numbers on his screen with a satisfied smile. Donations were starting to come in as well, as more and more people showed up.

[100%completion: A new quest? I doubt it.]

Just like that, a few people started to question Cane. But he welcomed their interest, knowing fully well that he was about to exceed expectations.

"If you have any doubt, just see me play the quest. Now, let’s go and meet the journalist."

Cane walked toward the journalist’s house, and many people asked where he currently was. He did not bother answering them because the others in his chat did it for him.

As soon as he stood in front of the journalist’s house, the door opened and the excited NPC stepped out.

"Finally, you are here. Well, it is a little earlier compared to the time we agreed to meet on. But it’s still good that you are punctual. Now hurry up and come with me. What are you waiting for?"

The journalist hurried Cane along, and Cane looked at the bulky man in the back. That man was likely the hired help and another NPC as well.

[Shura: So, does anyone know what quest this is? All I know of this NPC is that people die when they visit him.]

[LazyWrite: Hey, how did you trigger this quest? If you tell me, then I will gift you 100 dollars.]

[Bugcontrol: You should give it up. Cane is a streamer, and he likely won’t tell people like us his secret.]

The comments passed too quickly as Cane reached the edge of the city where a motorboat waited for their party.

The journalist NPC finally stopped dragging Cane along before he skipped over to the boat and only looked back when he saw that Cane was not following him.

"Hurry up and come here. Since you said that we might need someone for underwater combat, I took it upon myself to hire a boat for us to leave...do you have a problem with my decision?"

The journalist NPC asked, and Cane could not help but let his surprise show on his face. He slowly blinked as he calmed down.

’Huh-! The NPC took initiative on his own to do something? Has this ever happened before? It must be some new feature.’

With how quickly technology advanced, it was not too far of a stretch to come to this conclusion.

Even Cane’s chat seemed surprised.

[Bugcontrol: NPCs making decisions on their own? Must be a story feature or something.]

[WinWinWin: Obviously. This must be a story decision.]

Cane would have thought the same, but his intuition told him that things were somewhat different in this quest.

Still, since this decision was not affecting his gameplay, he did not care to think about it anymore.

Instead, he walked over to the boat and entered it.

"Do you know how to row the boat? Because I have no idea how to do that."

Cane asked the other two, and the journalist grinned big.

"Don’t worry about it. I hired the perfect person to help us out. All you need to do is to make sure you lead us the right way."

The journalist assured Cane before he also entered the boat. The hired help entered last, and Cane opened his map to show them the way. The only reason he even knew the way was because of his role as an operator.

Even he had to admit that this quest was too much for a normal person to undertake. But since he had the means to do it, he was not going to complain.

The hired help took them around, and he was quite fast at rowing the boat. Cane also had a feeling this was an NPC he had met during the beta test. But because he had met so many, he could not properly remember this NPC.

"Hey, are you there yet? Where do we need to go?"

The journalist was too excited and gave Cane no time to think back on his previous knowledge. So Cane decided to focus on his quest instead.

"Take right from there until you see the huge rock...yeah, that one. Make sure you take a right...no, this is not right. That’s left. Turn the other way around."

Cane was even more sure that he knew this NPC because he could recall that he had the worst sense of direction.

’Was there something else I needed to recall? I am sure there was...eh, I will recall it if I play more.’
