CHAPTER 57: CH 57: YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO STAY ALIVE
[KuraKura: Holy Shit-! Canari stocks are at an all-time low.]
[100%Completion: Lol-! She died again. Is she even a top player?]
[HaremKingXXX: She keeps coming after you. Are you sure she does not like you or anything?]
"I’d better hope Canari does not like me. This kind of attention is not only uncomfortable but also deadly."
Laughter rose in the chat that Cane ignored and he walked over to Ai. She was catching her breath and she gave Cane a nod when he approached her.
"Where did Canari go? I do not see her..."
"She’s dead. You injured her enough for me to finish it off. Unfortunately, there was no drop this time. Anyway, are you injured?"
Cane asked, and Ai quickly checked up on herself before she shook her head.
"I am fine. You do not have to worry about me. More importantly, do you think we are going to get attacked again?"
Ai asked, and Cane shook his head. He was certain that no one would dare to attack him and Ai again, and there was a simple reason for it—Ai was too high-level for people to attack her.
Not unless they wanted to die by her hand and risk losing their drop.
"It should be fine now. Your fight against Canari will warn others not to come after us...anyway, what do you want for breakfast?"
Cane asked as he led Ai back to the inn to complete the checkout and gather their things.
The owner kept looking at them with anxious looks but he did not come to ask them what happened. He looked too afraid of Ai and kept shifting in place, wondering whether to approach them or not.
And he was not the only one who was facing this dilemma. It allowed Cane and Ai some much-needed privacy.
Once breakfast was over, they decided to walk around the town and wait for Dani to show up. He had told Cane that he would message him once he was online.
Ai and Cane looked around the town until Cane got the message and excused himself to message Dani back. They decided where they wanted to meet in ten minutes before Cane came back online.
’Tsk, it’s getting so irritating. I need to quickly hit level 50 and start on the guild.’
Cane promised himself as he and Ai left the town and headed toward the dungeon not too far away. Dani was already waiting for them, his long white hair swaying in the wind.
As soon as he turned around to face them, a wide grin overtook his face.
"Cane, you finally made it here....who’s your friend? Are you going to introduce us?"
Dani walked over to Ai next and he got too close to Ai. Ai looked uncomfortable with him so Cane pulled Dani back.
"Alright, that’s enough. You need to give her some room to breathe here."
Cane reminded Dani and he pouted before he pulled back a little.
"Aww, that’s so boring. I think I liked you more when you were fun and not boring like this. Ai doesn’t mind me being too close to her, right?....Well, nevermind..."
Dani looked at Ai, hoping that she would back him up and tell him that it was alright. But Ai looked even more uncomfortable than before and Dani finally realized that it might have been too much for her.
"Stop fooling around now and tell me what help you need."
Cane asked and Dani quickly came back to his senses and gave Cane a smile.
"Ah yes, I forgot all about it. Let me tell you what we are doing here. We will be farming this dungeon. Ai, have you ever farmed a dungeon before? Don’t worry if you have not. I will show you how to do that..."
"Dani, Ai is level 120. She will out-farm us if anything. I don’t think we stand a chance here."
Cane told Dani and he looked at Ai once more. But this time, he looked far more serious.
"Oh really? You’re level 120? I...would have never known...not that it’s a problem. I think we can skip the small fries and head to the boss now."
Dani looked excited at the thought of reducing the grinding. Ai looked even more uncomfortable at his interest. There was just no winning here for either of them. Especially with Dani looking like he was going to do anything to get his way.
"Alright, let’s kill the boss a few more times and get you some levels. It works well for me as well since I need to hit level 50."
Cane told Dani and they entered the dungeon.
A few small monsters attacked them, causing them to fight back. The exp gained from that was small at best and the monsters were not as terrifying.
Their party was small but powerful enough to force their way through, even without the specific gimmick of the dungeon they were in.
Once they reached the boss room, Dani stopped and turned to look at Cane.
"Alright Cane, it’s time for you to shine. Go and show us how you handle the monsters."
Cane was, as ever, underleveled for the dungeon. He was the worst choice to send forward.
However, Dani had complete faith in him and his skills. He was sure that Cane would be just fine. And if not, then Cane would just revive himself.
So he pushed Cane forward, and directly into the boss’s den.
"Hey wait-! You cannot just force someone-"
Ai tried to stop him but it was too late. By the time anyone realized what was happening, Cane had already been pushed into the boss room and the arena had been triggered. The boss was looking directly at him, focusing on his taunt.
"Cane, hang in there. We will save you quickly."
Dani’s voice reached him as he locked eyes with the boss...seconds before the boss charged at him and opened its jaw to eat him alive.
"You were supposed to stay alive as bait~"
Dani’s loud voice reached Cane and he gritted his teeth.
