CHAPTER 62: CH 62: STORMING OFF

A tense silence followed the trio as they sat at the table. No conversation flowed between them and it was all because of Ai and her chilly look.

Every time Cane or Heera tried to start a conversation, Ai made sure it ended quickly. Her eyes continued to look around her but she was not actually looking at anything at the moment.

It made even the audience irritated and they continued to spam Cane to do something.

[Shura: Can’t you tell that Ai is in a bad mood? What are you waiting for? Do something.]

[WinWinWin: She might appreciate sweets among other things.]

As if it was that easy to appease Ai. First of all, he did not even know what set her off like this.

Heera seemed to know but she was not intending to share with him which was also a problem for them.

So Cane sighed and decided to call out to Ai directly.

"Ai, is something the matter?"

He asked and Ai frowned as she looked at him.

"Problem? No, nothing is the problem. You do not have to worry about me. I am as fine as I can be."

Ai assured with a smile on her face. But that smile did not reach her eyes. Her stare was rather blank and her expression lifeless. She was, once again, causing Cane to feel bad.

Heera decided she had enough of this silence and she stood up and turned to face Cane.

"Cane, how about the two of us go and try out a dungeon? We need to check on our teamwork for the competition. Miss Ai, my chat tells me that you are partnering up with someone else? Maybe you should check your teamwork with them as well."

This was Heera’s subtle way of telling Ai to fuck off. Ai did not have to be a genius to know this. And it only made Ai much more stubborn and angry to hear these words.

"I think I am fine here. I am not going to leave Cane alone since he promised to help me out."

Ai told Heera firmly, establishing her place beside Cane. She was beginning to get on Heera’s nerves now.

Up until now, Heera had tolerated Ai and acted as a ’mistress’ to Cane who was both humble and understanding. But she was reaching her limit and decided that she was done trying to give Ai the benefit of the doubt.

If Ai did not want to cooperate, then Heera no longer had an obligation to be nice to her either.

"I see. Well, too bad that you are just an NPC, right? Cane, you are coming with me. You can pause your quest for some time, right? Now come—"

Heera grabbed Cane’s hand and dragged the shocked man behind her. Ai was left too stunned to move and only after Cane was gone did she bury her face in her hands and consider what a disaster that had just happened.

’Fuck—! Just what the hell did I do? How could I have allowed my feelings to be this influenced by someone else?’

Ai questioned and she suddenly felt afraid of her own self.

Since she had lost control this easily, she wondered just how easy it would be for her to abandon her mission and not want to head back.

’NO! I cannot allow that to happen. I will have to distance myself from Cane and start trying to find a way back home. I need to focus on reaching the central server and soon.’

Ai reminded herself as she finished as she got up. The server who had just gotten to her table looked awkward as all three customers left without even ordering.

Meanwhile, Heera continued to drag Cane away with an annoyed look on her face. But inside, she felt flustered and wondered what the heck she was doing.

’Oh my fucking god—! Just what am I doing here? Why the heck am I pulling Cane behind me like this? I need to stop and let go of him...’

She knew what she had to do. But just the thought of turning back and facing Cane was too much for her. She felt like she could not do that easily.

So she continued to drag Cane behind her, and even when she paused, she did not look behind because she felt too ashamed to.

[No#1Player: Looks like Heera is too embarrassed by her actions. She cannot even turn around. Someone, tell her that there is no need for her to be like that.]

[Heerafan: Leave her alone. She is still wondering whether it is too late to kill herself or not.]

[Shura: You are Heera fan, right? Why are you in this chat? Should you not be in Heera’s chat?]

[Heerafan: Who says that I am not?]

Cane’s chat was wild, but Heera’s chat was not much better. And unlike Cane, she had a sense of shame that made her unable to look at her chat.

She buried her face in her hand to hide how awkward she felt at the moment, but it was of no use. Her red face still peeked out from behind her fingers.

’This is so embarrassing for me. Ugh, what am I supposed to do about this...? Just why did I do that?’

Heera asked but she already knew the answer. The reason she had been like this was because she had not been able to control herself and ended up acting out of order.

"Heera, you...what were you trying to achieve?"

Cane asked as he finally felt his wrist being let go of. But Heera still did not turn around. All he could see from his perspective was her red ears.

Finally, after gathering herself together, Heera told him what she was thinking about.

"I...just got angry and panicked before grabbing you. I apologize if I made you uncomfortable with my actions."

Heera told Cane and he shook his head.

"No, that’s fine. I was not uncomfortable. If you are fine, then I am as well."
