CHAPTER 63: CH 63: DO SOMEHTING ABOUT IT

Cane felt awkward as he stood in front of Heera and Heera looked back at him with an awkward expression as well.

They both wondered what to do next when Cane made a suggestion.

"Should we work on our teamwork? There are a few training exercises not too far away which will help us. We should go there."

Heera looked a little more comfortable after that offer and she nodded her head.

"Yeah, let’s go. We need to be in sync for the championship."

Both Heera and Cane quickly adapted to the new routine they were establishing and by the time they were done, they had gotten a lot better at cooperating.

Still, it was far from enough and both Heera and Cane were low-leveled enough to not have any chance of beating the competition. Their participation was for the sake of exposure to even more public. (and because Genesis asked Heera to bring Cane with her)

They decided to head back to the inn once the sun started to go down and Cane hesitated to enter his room.

He was not sure how to face Ai after what happened. But then he recalled that it had not even been his fault he was dragged away in the first place.

"Please, shut up. I do not have a harem and I do not have ’that kind’ of relationship with Ai...."

The door opened seconds before Cane knocked on it and he entered and Ai stood in front of him, her eyes looking around the hallway for someone else.

"I came back here alone. Heera decided to return home because she had some stuff to do."

He told Ai and Ai’s face stiffened just a little bit before she looked at Cane with a somewhat cold expression.

"I was not looking for her. I just wanted to make sure you were not being followed by some suspicious guy."

She told Cane before she opened the door wider for him to get in. Cane quickly entered the room and threw his body on the bed. He felt exhausted by the hectic day that he had.

"Don’t worry. I kept my stealth up. There are no high-level individuals in this town to be able to look past that. We should be safe as long as we do not run into Canari....yawn"

Cane assured before he felt his eyes closing and sleep claimed him.

He made sure to push his system to wake him up in the real world just before his eyes closed.

"Sleep well."

Those were the last words he heard before he fell asleep in the game...and jolted awake in real life.

His body felt sore, almost as if he had run a huge mile and done a lot of exercise. Even moving felt hard for him currently.

But he kept himself standing straight and headed toward the bathroom.

After splashing his face with some water, Cane felt much better and much more awake. He felt like he could finally start moving around.

The first thing he needed to do was get some food into himself. It had been some time since he got anything good to eat.

Strangely enough, he was not as hungry as he was supposed to be. He was only able to get one sandwich in before he started to feel full.

Cane decided to box that issue for now and go to sleep. As soon as his head hit the bed, he was knocked out.

’Tomorrow, he will do that weapon trade with Joseph and start his own guild. Until then, he should take a small break and sleep.’

"Boss, we have a message from Heera. Cane has accepted her invitation to the central server. That weird NPC with him has also selected to become Dani’s partner."

Reeze sighed as she heard the first piece of good news in the whole week. So far, she had yet to relax but she finally felt like she had a chance to.

"Finally-! At least one of you knows how to do things right. Keep an eye on the situation and we can start investigating the energy sources in the game."

She told her subordinates and they quickly got to work. No one wanted to be on her bad side.

Just as she started to relax, her secretary gave her another piece of information.

"Boss, we had observed that Joseph is in contact with Cane as well. Apparently, they agreed to exchange a +20 weapon in return for something undisclosed. There are also talks that these two might form an alliance."

Reeze’s calm mood vanished in an instant, and instead, she felt a headache threatening to overcome her.

"Ugh, why can’t things ever be easy for me? Fucking hell-! Ugh, fine-! I get it. Keep an eye on them and contact Joseph for a partnership as well. We will snatch him away before Cane can."

She told her people, only for the others around her to frown.

They wanted to tell her that she was being delusional. There was no need for her to be so cautious around Cane, who was just a player. But talking to their boss was like trying to talk to a time bomb.

The secretary knew better than to speak as well, so he kept quiet and decided not to say anything either.

Once out of the room, he finally let his real feelings show.

"That stupid boss of mine-! Ugh-! I should really quit and become a streamer as well. The pay might not be as good, but at least I will have free time and will to do it..."

But in the end, he bowed his head to money and went back to work. That was all he knew how to do anyway and this was what he was best at as well.
