CHAPTER 69: CH 69: WHY DID YOU GET DRUNK?

"Man, it sure is tough getting some levels into me. And the championship is about to start any day as well. I suddenly feel so nervous about all of this."

Dani complained as he drank drink after drink. He had emptied two bottles by now, but he only looked tipsy. Meanwhile, Ai looked like she was ready to collapse any second and her eyes swirled due to the alcohol.

Cane felt...conflicted about what he should do now. Should he stop Dani, or help out Ai?

In the end, his desire to help out Ai won him over and he walked over to her before he pulled her in his arms and decided to head back inside.

"Cane...where are you going? Are you abandoning me? Tsk, you are choosing a woman over our friendship-?"

"Would you stop making a scene? You are drinking too much and you got Ai drink as well. First, sober up and then we can talk more."

Cane told Dani, causing the male to pout. His female avatar attracted more than a few stares at his actions and that was another can fo worms Cane refused to open. He was not getting involved with these people for no reason and risking himself for Dani’s sake.

"Fine, I get it. Your Ai is more precious to you compared to me and my safety....don’t give me that look. I was just joking around...anyway, hurry up and find a way to open your communication ingame. It’s gettin irritating contacting you outside like this."

Dani told him an Cane nodded.

"Don’t worry. I have found a way."

Cane told him as he took Ai back to their shared room and disposed her on the bed. Ai’s semi-unconsious body sank into thwe soft sheets before she barely opened her eyes and reached for Cane.

The male took a step back as to not get caught by Ai, but he was unable to escape her grasp as she warped her hand around his wrist and tugged him back.

Soft bed welcomed Cane, but what his senses immediately focused on was the pair of warm arms surrounding him. Ai felt warm, soft and just good to be near. Lying with her mad Cane feel like his stress for the day was meting away and he could think once more.

His eyes closed slowly and before he knew it, sleep claimed him. But he took one last look at Ai before he went to sleep.

Her innocent sleeping face looked back at Cane, making his breath hitch.

’Let’s go to sleep. I need to go to sleep. Do not get affected by an NPC.’

Cane needed to start dating in real life if he wanted to get away from these feelings. And he swore he would do that once he was done with the next quest. He would be able to take some time off and focus on himself.

Next morning, Ai woke up with Cane in front of her and she looked around with a confused face.

All she recalled was drinking with Dani and waiting for Cane to arrive. But he was late and Dani had started pressuring Ai more and more to drink. To appease him, Ai had drunk what she had been told, and then...what happened? She could not recall properly.

"Ugh, my head hurt. Is alcohol really that bad? It’s a dangerous product. I will need to inform our researchers that it can potentially make us lose our reason..."

Ai spoke softly and her eyes landed on Cane’s sleeping face. It looked innocent and she almost reach out to touch him before she pulled back. Just that second, someone knocked at the door to their room.

"Room service."

That timing was immaculate and Ai felt her heart leap in her throat as she walked toward the door to open it.

There was a beautiful gir on the other side dressed in a simple dress that...almost looked like a wedding dress. Her attire aws heavy and not suited to be a maid dress.

"I am sorry but we do not need house keeping."

Ai told the female, but she quickly noticed that there was a weird expression on the female maid’s face. There was anger, disappointment and a little resentment either. And she did not even try to hide these feelings either.

She just...continued to give Ai a stare before she tred to look behind her.

Ai had a bad feeling about this female and she immediately shielded the inside of her room with her body.

"I am sorry, but I do not think we need room service at this moment. My...partner is still sleeping and we would like some privacy."

Ai told the female and watched as the maid clenched her jaw hard. Her words sounded as if she was forcing them out of her mouth.

"Partner...? I see. In that case, I do apologize for barging in as I pleased. I shall take my leave now. But please, do call for me if you need something."

The female told Ai and her words made Ai shiver. There was just...too much malice in her words to make Ai feel comfortable. Her instincts told her to stay away from the crazy stuff.

’H-How scary. Was that an NPC? Or a Player?’

There was no answer to Ai’s question, so she decided to o back to sleep. But as she closed the door, a maid dressed appropriately made her way over to the room and knocked.

"Room Service."

The maid asked in a professional voice without any hint of anger or disappointment in her voice.

Ai opened the door once more and gave the maid a confused look.

"I already told you that I do not need room service...."

"Huh-? This is the first time our establishment has send someone for service of your room. Did...someone else come along and offer room service as well? If so, then please tell us. We might have aan intruder among us."

The female told Ai and Ai felt a shiver go down her spine at what just happened.
