80s Marriage Swap: My Should-Be-Dead Husband Lives On
Chapter 76: Then Be Good
CHAPTER 76: CHAPTER 76: THEN BE GOOD
"You keep sleeping, I’ll go make breakfast." Jiang Jingming got out of bed, seeing Sang Yu with a blank expression, his eyes carried a hint of amusement.
After the man left, Sang Yu suddenly covered her head with the blanket.
What on earth was that man saying, such bold words!
Downstairs, she could already hear the man busy in the kitchen.
Sang Yu slowly got out of bed reluctantly.
By the time she tidied up and went downstairs, the man had already made breakfast.
"Aren’t you going to work?"
He didn’t go to work yesterday to accompany her, does he not need to go today either?
Jiang Jingming: "I’ll go later."
"What about the door?" Sang Yu mustered the courage to ask.
That door needs to be fixed quickly; if today’s events happen again, things might really get out of hand.
Jiang Jingming’s eyes flickered slightly, and he said, "I’ll fix it when I have time, I’ve been busy these days."
Fixing it wasn’t going to happen; once you’ve got the prey in your mouth, there’s no reason to let it go.
"Okay then." Sang Yu poked at the porridge in her bowl with her chopsticks.
"Remember not to touch cold water while at home, wait for me to come back, alright?" Jiang Jingming reminded her worriedly.
"Actually, I’m not that serious anymore," Sang Yu mumbled.
"Even so, no." Jiang Jingming said sternly.
Sang Yu: "Okay, I got it."
Jiang Jingming: "I’ll bring dinner back from outside. Just wait at home for me."
"I know. Do you know what you remind me of right now?"
Sang Yu had obviously forgotten about the awkward scene this morning.
"Of what?" The man looked up, seriously at Sang Yu.
Sang Yu laughed: "You’re quite like a fussy old mother."
Nagging all the time.
Jiang Jingming chuckled softly, got up, walked around behind Sang Yu, and wrapped her entirely in his embrace.
Sang Yu watched him warily: "What are you doing?"
Jiang Jingming lowered his head and whispered in her ear: "Then just behave, darling."
After speaking, he lifted her chin and placed a kiss on her soft lips.
Sang Yu’s face instantly turned bright red.
Jiang Jingming was pleased watching this scene and chuckled lightly, "Morning interest."
What interest? What had she done? He was collecting interest.
She wanted to ask, but the man had already gone upstairs.
Sang Yu poked at the porridge in her bowl, thinking, how is this man so adept at flirting—did he really never date anyone before?
Next time, she must flirt back!
When the man came downstairs, he was already dressed in his police uniform.
"I’m off to work, remember to behave, don’t touch cold water, I’ve already boiled hot water, and don’t drink cold water at home either." Sang Yu: "Got it, got it."
It was only after hearing her response that Jiang Jingming left the house.
Sang Yu looked at the hot water he had boiled for her and the red sugar water ready to be mixed, feeling sweet inside.
...
"Xiao Yu, are you home?" Auntie’s voice came from outside.
Sang Yu put down the sketch she was working on and placed it in the drawer.
She then stood up to open the door: "Auntie, what brings you here?"
"Sang Yu, is that you?"
Xu Ru’an, behind the auntie, looked at Sang Yu in surprise.
Sang Yu was also surprised to see Xu Ru’an.
"An’an, you know Xiao Yu?"
The auntie’s eyes darted between the two.
"I do." Xu Ru’an said happily.
The three of them sat in the living room, and Xu Ru’an told the auntie how she and Sang Yu met.
"My mom has always been telling me to come over and get to know Xiao Yu. I thought her name was somewhat similar to yours, but I wasn’t sure. Now I finally know, I didn’t expect Brother Jingming’s wife to be you."
Xu Ru’an was genuinely surprised and delighted.
Sang Yu didn’t expect that An’an, mentioned by Auntie, was actually Xu Ru’an.
"I was surprised too."
"So you knew each other all along, that’s wonderful." Auntie said.
"I never asked where you lived, otherwise I would’ve known sooner." Xu Ru’an said.
"It’s just fate." Sang Yu smiled.
Xu Ru’an: "Yeah, we really do have fate."
Auntie felt relieved and said, "Now that you’ve met, I don’t have to introduce you. You can keep in touch and hang out since you’re around the same age."
Xu Ru’an: "Mom, don’t worry. I had even invited Sang Yu to my show before."
"That’s great then." Auntie smiled.
Xu Ru’an suddenly remembered something: "Oh no."
"What’s wrong?" Auntie and Sang Yu looked at Xu Ru’an at the same time.
Xu Ru’an glanced at Sang Yu, feeling slightly guilty, but since Auntie was there and she feared getting scolded, she decided not to mention it yet.
"Nothing, I just suddenly thought of something from school."
"You scared me!" Auntie chided lightly.
"Hehe." Xu Ru’an scratched her head.
Sang Yu rather admired the way the mother and daughter got along, their strong relationship.
"Sang Yu, I heard that you showed my mom how to make fried dumplings?" Xu Ru’an asked.
Sang Yu: "Not really taught."
"Then it’s settled. Your dumplings are really delicious; have you thought about selling them?" These fried dumplings could sell on their own.
If you sold them, you’d definitely make money.
Lately, many people have started their own businesses.
Xu Ru’an had been paying attention to this, often seeing food stands and vendors on the street, thanks to some new policies.
So this way, ordinary folks have found a way to make a living too.
"Forget it, I’m not really suited for this," Sang Yu said,
She didn’t like being in the spotlight, nor did she have the patience to make so many.
She enjoyed cooking, but that didn’t mean she wanted to cook constantly.
Even at home, she mostly just cooked lunch and dinner.
Sometimes just dinner.
If she ran a business, she’d have to cook daily, all the time, which was too much for her.
Drawing was better anyway, and that’s what she truly wanted to do.
Xu Ru’an: "No worries, I was just suggesting. If you’re not interested, that’s fine."
The three of them chatted for quite some time before Auntie left with Xu Ru’an, having intended to just stop by and introduce themselves today.
But it turned out to be unexpectedly delightful.
Xu Ru’an: "Can I come over often to hang out with you in the future?"
Sang Yu smiled gently: "Of course."
She would love that; besides drawing, she had nothing else to do at home.
She enjoyed spending time with Xu Ru’an, whose ideas seemed endless.
She liked being around such imaginative people.
"That’s wonderful, I’ll come to see you next time." Xu Ru’an said happily.
Auntie was pleased to see the two of them get along.
"Great."
