Chapter 110: Chapter 71 I Love You_2 Chapter 110: Chapter 71 I Love You_2 Yun Yuwan’s crisp voice rang out, “So you’re the unlucky guy who was set up for a blind date with me, why didn’t you say anything when you knew my name was Yun Yuwan before?”

“The timing wasn’t right before. I think today is very appropriate, with the right time, place, and people,” Jiang Yingyu’s gaze returned, his fingertips gently caressing the remote control in his hand.

She asked curiously, “Why did you avoid the family gatherings before?”

“Because I’m a non-maritalist,” Jiang Yingyu answered her truthfully.

Yun Yuwan giggled, “I’m different. I believe that if we’re to be together, marriage is necessary. How else can you prove absolute loyalty and sincerity without marriage?”

Jiang Yingyu’s speech became even more unhurried without realizing it; if it wasn’t for the cover of night, Yun Yuwan would have seen his ears turn red.

“I used to think marriage was constricting, especially arranged marriages, trying to cultivate feelings for someone you don’t like, living like that isn’t as good as being single.”

Yun Yuwan asked out of curiosity, “And now?”

He spoke softly, “Now, it depends on the situation.”

If her heart was set on marriage, it would be to the man who gave her Maple…

She smiled, raised her hand into a fist, motioning for him to bump fists, “I hope you find someone you like, who has the right family background, and you don’t have to go through an arranged marriage.”

He bumped fists with her; his hand was much larger than hers, and his fist was larger too, like a big bun colliding with a small bun, gently tapping the back of her fingers:

“I hope so.”

Drones flew across the vast night sky and over the rose field, the clouds floated by serenely. Though black in color, they felt as light and carefree as wisps of smoke.

After viewing the flower field, Jiang Yingyu drove her all the way to the villa in Lujiazui.

As she got out of the car, Jiang Yingyu suddenly called out to her, “Yuwan.”

Yun Yuwan turned around in confusion, “What’s wrong?”

He watched her stand under the streetlight, with an unspoken reluctance in his heart, but could only say softly:

“Good night.”

Yet Yun Yuwan didn’t leave and instead walked around to the driver’s side; he hurriedly rolled down the window.

Yun Yuwan leaned on his car window like a stray cat she happened upon, her other hand boldly reaching in to ruffle his hair, “You too, ‘good night’ in English. I had a lot of fun with you today.”

Her illness destined her to have no sense of boundaries, but his heart skipped a beat. Her hand was small, but as it reached in to mess up his hair, he compliantly let her.

Yun Yuwan withdrew her hand, “I’m off.”

Striding towards the residential area, he kept the car lights on for her, illuminating the already not-so-dark path.

He didn’t drive away until her figure disappeared from view. After a good while, with a slight depression and happiness intertwined in his heart, she hadn’t come back out, he finally drove off, making sure he didn’t need to pick up her runaway self again.

Yun Yuwan reached the villa but hesitated to leave, not wanting to go inside.

Actually, she should’ve booked a room at a hotel and spent the night, then returning by day.

But after hesitating, she chose to enter.

At this time, he should be asleep.

The door wasn’t locked; it opened with a twist.

Yun Yuwan closed the door and heard a low voice:

“Where have you been?”

Yun Yuwan jumped slightly and saw Wen Yangzhi sitting among the shadows of the lamp and the screen, with a cigarette ashtray in front of him full of stubs.

Wen Yangzhi watched her quietly, his handsome and sharp features even more three-dimensional in the shadow, yet also more intimidating.

Yun Yuwan tried to feign calm, but the words were hard to utter once they reached her lips, as if something was stuck in her throat, making it difficult for her to speak those pretentiously calm words.

She could only speak haltingly.

“I didn’t know you and Zhou Xing…

She forced composure, “Actually, I also think I have meddled a bit. I didn’t know earlier that you intended to choose Zhou Xing, nor was I aware of your plans to form a marriage alliance with him; I’ve caused you trouble.”

She revealed a somewhat ingratiating smile, bone-chillingly hollow from within, leaving no doubt that she was about to suggest a separation:

“Brother, you might not know, but the truth is I don’t have to be with you, I just thought, you also quite liked me, no wonder you said I have been the priority during this time.”

Her voice was so gentle, as if nothing had happened, even calmer than usual: “Actually, I don’t like being coercive, so if there is nothing else, I’ll return to the old house first, and I’ll be off to Belgium tomorrow.”

She removed the ring from her finger and placed it on the coffee table: “Let’s leave it at that, don’t speak to me, otherwise I might lose my temper for no reason, I don’t want you to think I am being unreasonable and hysterical again.”

She was almost unable to hold back, turning her back, about to step away, since her tear ducts were on the verge of bursting.

“Yun Yuwan.” He called after her.

She managed to turn back with composure, her laugh seemingly gentle and calm as tears streamed down her face, she choked up but hoped the dim light would hide her tears: “What is it?”

Wen Yangzhi’s gaze was still like a storm-tossed sea that never broke into his eyes, utterly composed:

“I love you.”

Yun Yuwan was momentarily stunned, standing there without moving: “What do you mean?”

His voice was hoarse and deep from staying up all night and smoking, but was always quietly intense: “When I say I love you, it means I love you, giving you the Maple Leaf Ring was not what I intended.”

He pulled open a drawer, took out a ring box, set it on the table, and pushed it toward her with his finger:

“Because the ring I intend to give you is right here.”

Her gaze fell on the brown velvet jewelry box, but at that moment, she didn’t want to look anymore, lacking any curiosity to see what was inside.

She just forced a cheerful smile: “Oh, I understand. I’ll be going now.”

His gaze was unwavering, devoid of any smile:

“When I said ‘this time,’ it’s because I have not had much time for romance, and you are well aware that I am very busy every day, so after starting a relationship with you, I intended to spend more time with you to gradually harmonize.”

Yun Yuwan simply smiled warmly and softly at him, yet he clearly saw her tears gathering the scant light and falling down brightly.

If it weren’t for the sight of the tears falling, one might genuinely think she was smiling.

Those who aren’t loved are adept at pretending peace.
