A Crazy Love Proposal
Chapter 48 - 48 40 Little Vinegar Spirit
Chapter 48: Chapter 40 Little Vinegar Spirit Chapter 48: Chapter 40 Little Vinegar Spirit How was she supposed to be happy, when the person she had waited for half a year now had a girlfriend?
Perhaps he still carried another’s scent, from hugs or holding hands or from kisses, before putting her second and meeting her.
Maybe his girlfriend coaxed him to stay longer with her, and he lingered.
Thereby making her wait an extra hour, without considering her feelings.
However, Yun Yuwan just wanted to burst into tears for a moment but forcibly held back.
Wen Yangzhi rose and walked over to her, also looking up at the snow drifting outside the window, his silhouette as tall and straight as a pine.
She finally mustered the courage, treading on thin ice, to ask for confirmation of the answer that could shatter her heart.
“What were you just doing that took you so long to come?” She had to repeat that question several times in her mind before she finally spoke it, “Does your girlfriend live far away?”
She covered her jealousy and heartache with a trace of anger.
Wen Yangzhi appeared slightly surprised, “Girlfriend?”
Snowflakes outside the window fluttered like mud.
Inside, the lamp was still lit, the slightly yellow light casting a warm glow on people, and she pretended to be angry about his lateness:
“Yes, making me wait for you for so long, couldn’t you drop that sister off earlier? You’re not punctual at all.”
Wen Yangzhi remained unruffled, responding with a question:
“What sister are you talking about?”
Now she truly felt a little stifled with anger, “Your girlfriend.”
Wen Yangzhi was calm and composed, his cool, deep black eyes gazing at her, “Brother doesn’t have a girlfriend.”
It took just one sentence from him for the feeling of pressure on her tear ducts to suddenly dissipate, and a smile almost leaked out at the corners of her lips.
But afraid that he would sense her ulterior motives, she kept a straight face and pressed on:
“If you don’t have a girlfriend, then why are you late?”
Wen Yangzhi didn’t reply immediately, but with good-natured curiosity, he asked:
“Where did you hear that I have a girlfriend?”
“Auntie and uncle said you were sending your girlfriend home.” Yun Yuwan, undaunted, answered firmly.
Wen Yangzhi finally understood where the misunderstanding arose from, and with a light laugh he said, “That was Jiang Family’s brother’s girlfriend. He had an argument with her, and I separately took them home.”
She paused, wanting to turn her tears into laughter, yet feigned fury in her complaint:
“How could Jiang Family’s brother do that, making me wait so long just to see you. I’ve been waiting for over an hour.”
Yet, through her complaints, she managed to express thoughts she didn’t dare say aloud.
His voice grew even gentler, almost like a murmuring brook, “Brother is at fault, I won’t be late to meet you because of others anymore.”
His eyes were like a tender forest sea, and she nearly drowned in them.
It turned out he had gone to play peacemaker.
Yet she couldn’t help but verify the matter further, to ensure his emotional state more deeply:
“You say you don’t have a girlfriend, but what about the ring on your hand?”
A silver ring adorned his ring finger.
Wen Yangzhi leaned in slightly, his eyes locked onto hers, “Too many people want to know Brother, and Brother doesn’t want to be disturbed.”
“Many people are chasing you?”
Her tone still querying, unaware of the strength of her possessive desire or by what right she asked.
Rather than getting angry at her somewhat authoritative tone, he remained as mild-mannered as ever and said, “Not many, just that Brother is not interested in dating for now.”
She couldn’t help but awkwardly reveal a smile, and Wen Yangzhi also lifted the corners of his lips:
“Little jealous one.”
Perhaps his original intent was only that she and his friends were all vying for his time.
But at that moment, she felt as if their affection for each other was mutual.
Yun Yuwan felt an indescribable possessiveness inside her, confined only to the name of sibling:
“I thought it was because of a girlfriend that you were late. I’m your sister; no one should be closer to you than me.”
Wen Yangzhi naturally placed his hand on the top of her head, “You and I are closest.”
Perhaps he thought it was just a child’s wish to be favored above others.
But such biased and privileged words tempted her, and she couldn’t help feeling overjoyed.
Wen Yangzhi gently reminded her in a soft voice, “Didn’t you say you wanted to make a wish? What’s the wish?”
Pretending to have forgotten, her fur smoothed down, “I almost forgot about the wish I wanted to make.”
Wen Yangzhi wasn’t irritated but just chuckled as he watched her.
Yun Yuwan faced the window, clasped her hands together, and closed her eyes.
In front of her heart’s desires, she silently made a wish related to them.
Wishing to forever be with Hong Sheng, and not to be parted.
She loved Hong Sheng so much and hoped that he, too, liked her a little, even just a tiny bit would do.
Upon opening her eyes, she instinctively looked at him, always wanting to steal another glance.
Wen Yangzhi, with his hands in his pockets, was admiring the sudden heavy snowfall outside the window, an image of elegance.
