A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners
Chapter 108 108: Waiting
Even though it was a bit messy from their brief intimate moment, Rebecca easily tidied herself up, leaving no trace behind.
Oliver made sure of this with his power as he, too, didn't want any evidence left behind.
The sofa was still clean since none of Rebecca's fluids had dripped onto it.
"Let's continue this tonight, and I'll return the favor," Rebecca said with a faint smile.
Oliver chose not to respond, worried that it would only heat up the atmosphere again.
The two of them left the private room, descended the stairs, and immediately found Miya, with her curly red-brown hair, next to Ivy's table. Miya was with her assistant and Rebecca's assistant, surrounded by people asking for autographs.
Miya signed a few autographs and pleaded with them to stop bothering her as she had private matters to attend to.
Fortunately, most of the patrons at this restaurant were elites who knew how to behave. After Miya's plea, they stopped bothering her, though they continued to stare.
Her high popularity meant she would always be the main attraction. Rebecca might be beautiful with a noble aura, but she was still outshone by Miya when it came to attracting attention.
Ultimately, no one knew Rebecca, while Miya had a voice and a body of work that had entertained people.
Because Miya recognized Rebecca, she quickly noticed her as she descended the stairs with Oliver. Her initially calm expression turned to one of surprise when she saw her friend's son, not expecting the friend mentioned by Rebecca's assistant to be him.
But Oliver chose to pretend not to know her. He felt a bit uncomfortable with the woman's presence because she was too experienced and could practically read his mind too easily.
"Lady Everly, my apologies for making you wait. Let's go upstairs and talk about business," Rebecca said to Miya.
The latter nodded with a smile but was still looking at Oliver as she was about to follow Rebecca. On the other hand, Oliver continued to pretend not to know her, sitting back down at Ivy's table and drinking his coffee to change the taste in his mouth.
Rebecca, of course, noticed that Miya was repeatedly looking at Oliver. While on the stairs, she couldn't help but ask, "Lady Everly, do you know Oliver?"
Rebecca was quite certain about this, which was why she brought it up.
"Of course, he's my best friend's son... I just can't believe he's pretending not to know me here," Miya answered with a chuckle.
"Ohh..." Rebecca didn't expect that Oliver, whom she had initially considered a country bumpkin and whose background in her eyes was indeed that, would have family that knew someone like Miya.
"Your relationship with him seems unusual," Miya said, glancing strangely at Rebecca.
"Bringing him to a private meeting so his girlfriend has to wait alone, this doesn't look like a business discussion. In any movie, this kind of thing is always about an affair trying to snatch a moment to get intimate."
Rebecca's eyes widened. "..."
"I guess it's not important to you what we do," Rebecca replied.
"No, I wasn't thinking about you, I was thinking about my best friend's son. Of course, I have to admit he has a strong allure. He's handsome and a talented Cultivator, it's not strange for him to attract many beautiful women. I just didn't expect that even you, the most arrogant Miss of the Rothschild Family, would be captivated by him."
Rebecca rolled her eyes, seeming to have difficulty saying anything.
In the end, she said, "I'm still a normal woman. This might happen when the flow of fate wants it to be this way."
In a short time, the two of them arrived at the private room with their respective assistants. Of course, Rebecca and Miya stopped talking about Oliver.
Rebecca asked Miya about the possibility of her singing at Edward's birthday party, asking about her fee, and what they needed to prepare. It was a long discussion because inviting Miya wasn't as simple as just being able to pay.
Oliver and Ivy had already left. Ivy didn't seem to have any suspicion at all about him and Rebecca, thinking it was purely a request for help from Rebecca. This was ultimately logical. Due to Oliver's power, it was natural for many people who knew him to want to ask for his help. Ivy even viewed this as a good thing because it meant Oliver could earn money from various people.
At this moment, it was still a long time before afternoon, but Oliver decided to go to the lake on the outskirts of the city right now. He would wait and fish since it had been a while since he had gone fishing.
Inside his Observation Ring, there were already various fishing tools, so he didn't have to buy them again. With his motorcycle, it didn't take him long to arrive at the destination.
There was a large lake with a big mountain range behind it. One of the mountains was also the location of Edward's residence that they had once visited by helicopter.
Even though it wasn't midday yet, the lake was already crowded with fishermen. It might be a weekday, but of course, there were some people who didn't work. Many of them also used boats to get to the lake.
Oliver thought that if he were coming from his house, he could bring his yacht to this lake since it was also connected to the city's river. Of course, that would be a hassle, and he didn't know how to ride it yet. And here, it wasn't like there were no yachts for rent, even if they were smaller.
However, he didn't plan to rent a yacht because he didn't know if Dom would be fishing at the lakeshore or in the middle of the lake.
On the lakeshore, many tents for shelter had been prepared by the government. He chose one of the empty tents, and then several people who were street vendors came over, offering food.
Since he would be waiting for a long time, he ordered all kinds of food.
"Can you fish?" Oliver asked Ivy, who seemed to just want to follow him wherever he went.
Ivy shook her head and replied, "I've never fished."
"Don't worry, I'll teach you," Oliver replied casually.
He handed a fishing rod to Ivy and helped her bait the hook.
"Watch how I cast it," Oliver said again before casting his bait into the lake. In his opinion, Ivy would understand in a short time given her intelligence, plus her physique was not that of an ordinary person, so she shouldn't have any difficulty practicing it.
Ivy copied his movement as she cast the bait, and as a result, she managed to cast it farther because she used more force.
"Now we just have to wait," Oliver said. He sat down and ate the snacks he had bought while drinking coffee, then lit a cigarette that he had bought in Southeast Asia, feeling everything was more perfect if he also smoked.
Ivy might have just seen him smoke for the first time, but from her gaze, she seemed to think that he looked cool. Of course, Oliver wouldn't offer this to her.
In this lake, the number of fish was higher, but only small fish weighing 500 grams to 1 KG. For Ivy, who was fishing for the first time, the sensation was too amazing, so she, who was initially relaxed, began to get serious. She even collected the fish she caught, planning to cook them here later at midday.
At midday, she really started to cook the fish. Her skills in this area were not bad. Even by the lakeshore, Oliver could have a good lunch that made some of the other fishermen envious. Unfortunately, they weren't fishing with their wives. They even had to sneak out just to go fishing.
Oliver didn't plan to share food with anyone. He would be stingy if it came from his woman. He ate leisurely, enjoying every bite, ignoring the glances that wanted to ask for some. The lake seemed to be his private garden because he was enjoying it the most.
After lunch, he leisurely smoked again while lying down, stopping fishing while Ivy continued to fish. The woman seemed to be starting to get addicted to the sensation.
When everything becomes fun, time, of course, feels faster. Without realizing it, it was now 3 PM, and Ivy stopped fishing.
"Honey!" She approached Oliver and then glanced in a certain direction.
Oliver followed her gaze only to find a black MPV car.
"That's Dom's car, he's here," Ivy said.
Oliver, who was initially lying down, immediately sat up, spreading his Void Sense into the car, finding the cold-faced middle-aged man who had helped the awakened students. He was dressed casually, only wearing shorts and a thin-looking white T-shirt so that his muscular body stood out.
As a strong Awakener who had a Storage Ring, he naturally carried his fishing equipment inside his Storage Ring. He got out of his car quickly, looking impatient to get to the lake.
Apparently, he only went to the lakeshore, to a quiet corner, and started fishing there, sitting alone while smoking a thick cigar. With so many people on the lakeshore, he didn't notice the presence of Ivy, whom he knew well. If he had seen her, he probably would have approached her.
