CHAPTER 253: CHAPTER 250: YOU LIVE ON THE 32ND FLOOR?!
Yi City’s hand, which was raised earlier, froze.
He couldn’t stop the fire back then, so how could he push her into the fire pit now?
Before Jing Jihan carried Shi Su out of the crowd, he swiftly sidestepped away from Yi City’s frozen hand.
Jun and Chujiu hurried over: "Shi Su?"
Jing Jihan glanced indifferently at Shi Su’s two useless managers and assistants, and coldly said, "Stay behind to handle the aftermath, I’ll take her to the hospital."
Shi Su at this moment could barely hear the conversations around her, she just frowned and unconsciously grabbed Jing Jihan’s collar, murmuring in a faint voice: "I’m... fine... let me down..."
The small woman in his arms lightly struggled, Jing Jihan held her tighter, and as he walked out of the banquet hall, he said in a deep voice, "Be good, don’t cause trouble."
Shi Su didn’t want to go to the hospital, but she was truly exhausted, and couldn’t even muster the strength to open her eyes. Her head rested on his shoulder, only feeling him carrying her steadily outward, enveloped in his familiar scent, until she was placed in the car, and his jacket covered her.
Dazed, the feeling of being surrounded by warmth was both familiar and alarming. She feared becoming lost in it, but her body wouldn’t allow her to think much more. She just felt his hand stroke her forehead, checking her temperature, before hearing the car engine start...
It wasn’t the first time Jing Jihan personally took her to the hospital.
But this time Shi Su didn’t even have the strength to resist, until after receiving an antipyretic injection and being kept under observation in the hospital for a few hours, and then being taken away, Shi Su remained asleep, falling into a deeper sleep after the injection, entirely unaware of where she was taken.
-
When Shi Su woke up again, it was almost dawn, outside it was dawn, but as the curtains were drawn, she didn’t know exactly what time it was.
Darkness enveloped her, the bedroom lights weren’t on, but she could clearly sense that this was an unfamiliar room.
She carefully shifted, still acutely aware of the soreness caused by the fever-induced coma, guessing she might have caught the flu, as she hadn’t felt well a few days prior, with her low immunity and constantly being around Mianmian, it wasn’t strange for them to get colds together.
But where was this place?
It didn’t seem like a hotel.
She raised her hand and groped around, instinctively reaching for the headboard, eventually touching something, a sensor light switch perhaps, and the dim wall light suddenly illuminated.
The light was gentle and not glaring. Under it, she lowered her head and saw her clothes had been changed to her home loungewear, but this was clearly not her Kaixing Mansion bedroom.
Shortly after the light turned on, the bedroom door suddenly opened.
A tall and handsome man entered, holding a glass with half a cup of warm water, in the other hand were antipyretic and anti-inflammatory pills.
Upon seeing Jing Jihan, Shi Su instinctively raised her hand to cover the neckline of her nightgown. The room was quiet, and outside was also very quiet, indicating there was no third person, knowing who changed her clothing, she was unhesitating.
"The antipyretic injection has expired after six hours, the flu is causing recurring fever, take the medicine first."
Jing Jihan approached, offering the water glass to her, simultaneously bringing the medicine to her lips.
Shi Su looked up at him, recalling the events at the Yao Platform Traces celebration banquet before she fell into a coma.
After turning on the light, she had half-sat up. Now exhausted, she leaned back against the headboard, not opening her mouth to take the medicine, but surveyed the surroundings warily, asking: "What is this place?"
Her voice was hoarse, like she had swallowed dozens of pounds of sand.
Seeing her woke up again in that steadfast demeanor that kept others at a distance, Jing Jihan didn’t say much, bringing the medicine directly to her lips: "Take the medicine first."
Shi Su didn’t want to make a joke with her own body, she couldn’t escape anyway, so she cast an annoyed glance at him, opened her mouth and took the medicine. Jing Jihan handed her the water, she took a few sips and then shook her head, meaning she couldn’t drink anymore.
Jing Jihan put the water aside, raised his hand for her temperature check again: "Take another temperature reading after thirty minutes."
"Where is this?" Shi Su seemed not to hear, only looked at him: "Is this where you usually stay?"
"Yes."
"Then I..." She looked strangely down at her nightgown: "Why is my nightgown here?"
Was this man capable of magic, able to fetch things from a distance?
"While you were asleep, I went downstairs to grab one."
"Downstairs?"
Shi Su initially didn’t respond, until she suddenly recalled several coincidences and remembered accidentally going up to the 32nd floor once...
Her expression froze: "You live on the 32nd floor."
Not a question, it was a statement.
Jing Jihan sat at the bedside, looked at her, calmly replied: "Now is not the time to discuss this."
Shi Su: "?"
Then discuss what?
Discuss him living above her and never telling her?
Or discuss how she’s never realized after being neighbors with him for so long?
Or discuss how he publicly proposed to a minor actress for excitement?
Shi Su really doesn’t want to talk to him, especially since today marks their first meeting since returning from Z City.
The last time they met was at that hotel in eastern Z City...
Recalling the impulsive actions she did that night, her face couldn’t turn red due to the fever, but her eyes clearly avoided his gaze.
In the dim bedroom with only one wall light lit, under its yellow light his handsome face gleamed, his eyes showing no avoidance as he quietly and attentively gazed at her.
"In the future, if there are any misunderstandings, make sure to clarify. You can have emotions, but I don’t want misunderstandings to exist."
Jing Jihan said calmly.
"My parents have settled in London for many years. They have only two sons, and my mother actually likes girls, but she couldn’t give birth again due to health reasons. When they decided to stay in the United Kingdom over a decade ago, they adopted a young girl from an orphanage. That girl is now named Jing Sixue, last name Jing, my nominal sister, she lives with my parents year-round."
"Months ago, when I returned to London to handle overseas business, I took some time to visit my parents, coincidentally this nominal sister was having her birthday, they asked me to stay for a meal, and it was indeed dinner time, I had no reason to decline. I’m not close to this sister but don’t reject her for my parents’ sake. That photo was taken by her when, I have no impression, I will pay attention to avoid such situations happening again."
