CHAPTER 38: CHAPTER 38: BRIMMING WITH TRUST

EDITOR: ATLAS STUDIOS

Without Jing Jihan presiding, the boardroom was a mess with a dozen directors and Jing Yuanbin pointing fingers at each other.

A group of normally well-dressed individuals sitting there shifting blame, arguing for a full two hours.

Indeed, Jing Jihan wasn’t there, but Mr. Jing was still sitting in the main seat, and this group of uncles, nephews, and close relatives related to the Jing Family, along with those self-proclaimed senior directors, were arguing fiercely, as if they were fighting over inheritance.

The scene was boiling and noisy, Mr. Jing listened to these people argue until he got a headache, and directly slammed his cane on the ground, cursing, "Anyone who dares utter another word of nonsense will be kicked out of the group building! I’m not dead yet!"

Only then did the boardroom fall silent.

Mr. Jing propped himself up with his cane and stood up, demanding Jing Yuanbin to organize the financial statements of companies responsible for venture capital under the names of those old directors, like He Feng Finance and Hehui Securities, and give them to him by six in the evening.

The crowd saw that although Mr. Jing was old and had been retired for a long time, his majesty and decisiveness remained, and they dared not defy him.

The meeting concluded amidst Mr. Jing’s cold and displeased scolding, and the senior executives shuffled out from the door, each leaving in defeat.

After leaving the boardroom, Lu Zhao turned on his earphones, connecting them to the communication device: "Mr. Jing."

He knew Jing Jihan had listened to the entire situation of the company’s regular meeting.

Jing Jihan said calmly, "The mess left by the old board over at He Feng is a historical issue. In the past two years, the group hasn’t approved them any project files, their funding gap is too large, so aside from having Jing Yuanbin take advantage of this chaos to divert attention, they have no other choice. I have my measures for this situation, remind Mr. Jing not to be overly worried."

Just as he finished speaking, the sound of Shi Su arriving with Mianmian came from outside the door, and he hung up the phone.

-

Shi Su had been watching scripts at home all morning, but having gotten up too early, she felt sleepy even before noon.

Trying to keep her eyes open to continue watching for a while longer, she eventually fell asleep on the living room coffee table without knowing when.

"Mommy~" Shi Mianmian came out of the children’s room, holding a small doll in one hand and a toy pizza in the other. It was the weekend, and she had played in her room for a long time, using the toy kitchen to make a variety of "feasts" for her doll, and only ran out once she felt hungry.

"Mommy?" Shi Mianmian walked to the edge of the coffee table, tilted her little head to look at Shi Su, and seeing that mommy was asleep, she first looked down bewildered at the toy pizza in her hand, then turned and ran towards the main bedroom direction to knock on the door.

"Uncle, Ji Han Uncle~" Mianmian knocked on the door while softly calling.

Jing Jihan opened the door and looked down at the little one whose height barely reached his thigh.

Shi Mianmian beckoned him with her finger, indicating that she wanted him to squat down.

Jing Jihan watched her for a moment, not understanding, and saw her beckon twice more, seeming a bit anxious. He hesitated for half a second and slowly bent down: "What is it?"

Seeing him squat down, Shi Mianmian hurriedly stretched out her chubby little arms and hugged his neck, leaning to his ear with her rosy little lips whispering, "My mommy is asleep, but I’m hungry, uncle, what will we eat?"

The little one had a sweet milky scent, still holding a doll, unable to hug him tightly, she put a little more effort into her arms around his neck as if afraid he would stand up, her small body almost leaning on him, eyes blinking with full trust.

Jing Jihan didn’t push her away, just slightly turned his gaze to look at Shi Mianmian, who no matter how clingy did not annoy him in the least, then glanced towards the sofa.

Because the back of the sofa blocked the view, he couldn’t see what Shi Su was doing, but since the little one was holding onto his neck and wouldn’t let go, he simply lifted her with one hand and stood up.

It was only then that he saw Shi Su asleep on the coffee table in front of the sofa.

"Wow! Uncle, you can pick me up, is your injury healed..." Shi Mianmian’s voice raised several decibels in excitement.

Jing Jihan raised a finger to lightly press on her little lips, mouthing to her: "Shh."
