CHAPTER 670: THE QUEEN SUMMONS, SHALL WE MAKE NEW CLOTHES FOR MISS DRAGON?

A Hospital in Another World?

One consequence of the Lucia incident was that the Spring Temple ceased to send people under the guise of learning, opting instead for shortcuts.

Garrett guessed that perhaps the temple in Nevis had reported the matter to the main temple, and they felt they couldn’t afford to lose face?

Another consequence was that in the capital city, there would now be a hospital where surgeries could be performed.

Of course, the hospital was not his property; it was established in the name of the Queen, known as the Royal Maternity Hospital. However, Garrett didn’t care about that—

As long as there was a place to perform surgeries, allowing him to maintain his skills and accumulate data, he was happy. As for the establishment of this hospital, whether it was because the Queen didn’t trust his competence enough to want to see his success rate in the capital firsthand, who cares~~~

Thus, one and a half months after receiving an invitation from the Queen, Garrett finally departed from Nevis by boat, heading south for a long journey to the capital.

The reason for traveling by boat, instead of crazily riding on Lord Appa’s back like the last time he went home, was that this time, they brought a large group:

The God of Nature’s church group, with Joanna, a fifth-tier priest, as a surgical assistant;

A representative from the Spring Temple, Sally, a thirteenth-level priestess, both a healing and surgical assistant;

Cirella, the head nurse, along with a roaming nurse and an instrumental nurse;

Bernard, a follower and bodyguard, as well as the head of hospital security;

Two midwives selected from the Oak Grove Clinic as the most skilled...

And of course, Lord Appa. The adorable Appa, the loyal Appa, the majestic Appa, with an innate ability to cleanse the streets—bringing him along on a long journey was a must!

With Lord Appa aboard, the spacious ship sailed out from the port of Nevis, through the lengthy fjords, heading southward. Waves tumbled and seagulls danced in the air; the moist and warm breeze of spring hit everyone’s faces, making all feel refreshed and delighted.

The Kingdom of Kent consisted of two large islands, east and west, along with a series of smaller islands in between, through which the ship navigated. This route was not the shortest but it traveled deep within the heartland of the kingdom, staying as far away as possible from the warships of the Radiant Church.

Winding southward for a thousand miles, they re-entered the fjords, landing at Bliss Port on the eastern island. From there, they continued eastward, traveling another hundred and fifty miles on land until reaching the capital, awaiting the Queen’s summons.

“It’s so slow…”

Cirella swayed back and forth on Lord Appa’s back. The journey was unbearably slow, by ship and by carriage, dragging on for nearly half a month. Moreover, with no patients to see or experiments to conduct, it was especially boring!

Had she known they would travel like this, she would have let others take the ship while she and Garrett flew directly, or sped along on Lord Appa, timing their arrival to coincide!

“Well, walking along and enjoying the scenery of different places isn’t so bad, right?”

Garrett comforted her with a smile. The customs and manners of the southern part of the Kingdom of Kent, especially near the capital, differed from those near Nevis and near Hartland City.

The fields were flat and stretched out as far as the eye could see, each plot of land small and square, each cultivated by people. In contrast, near Nevis City, workshops abounded, and near Hartland City, vast tracts of land were used for grazing;

The houses were clusters of dense wooden cottages surrounding various castles. Other than the castles, almost no tall buildings were visible;

And near the capital, the fields were already a verdant green this season. Cirella distinctly remembered that when they had set off, Nevis was still covered in frost and snow.

“Hmm... alright, consider it a sightseeing trip then…”

Miss Silver Dragon was somewhat placated:

“I hope there’s something fun in the capital, especially the royal palace. Don’t disappoint me…”

They settled in the lodgings provided for visiting magicians near the capital—Sally went off with her students to visit the main temple in the capital—waiting for the Queen’s summons. The news was sent in on the first day, and by the next day, they had received a response:

The Queen would meet with Mage Nordmark and his party in three days, at her current retreat in the Royal Villa. Mainly Mage Nordmark, Sally, Priest Joanna, and Miss Cirella.

Others might not be summoned personally by the Queen, but it was best to accompany them, just in case the Queen whimsically decided

to call them over to ask a few questions…

“…So how far is the villa from here?”

Garrett muttered as he prepared. For an audience with the Queen, at the very least, one had to dress properly and look presentable. And surely, they couldn’t just walk there on two legs?

Two or three people squeezing onto Lord Appa’s back, the thought alone was quite impolite…

“Ah, you needn’t worry about these matters.” The head of the Royal Mage Corps, Archmage Simond, promptly sent someone on behalf of the Mage Corps and the Council. The visitor was Archmage Simond’s butler, who had served their family for generations and was very skilled in etiquette:

“You are the delegate sent by the Council, the Royal Mage Corps will arrange everything for you. A carriage will pick you up the day before the audience; you can just ride there.”

“What about the clothes?”

“According to common etiquette, magicians meet the Queen dressed in their mage robes, which is considered formal attire everywhere. The lady may dress more elegantly; the Mage Corps has ready-made clothes, as well as tailors and jewelry available for lending…”

The butler, with a kind and respectful smile, directed the servants to unload several large boxes from the carriage. Two boxes of ready-made clothes, one box of various silks, one box of accessories, and a small box of various jewels:

This Miss Cirella, though not a caster herself, had been particularly respected by the Council—more so than Mage Nordmark…

Hmm, surely a beautiful lady cannot resist the allure of new clothes and jewels!

He instructed two maids to sort the ready-made clothes and display them before Cirella. The tailor Mr. Crowley, who had long collaborated with the Mage Tower, directed his assistants to pull out silks from the boxes, draping them over their arms in a fan-like display. The guest room immediately lit up with a soft radiance.

And Mr. Crowley himself, adjusting the mage badge on his chest, opened a book of designs. All the latest fashions of the year were available for Cirella to pick at will.

What? There’s not enough time to make them?

Mr. Crowley declared, "I myself am a Transmutation mage. Although I’m stuck at the threshold between level two and three due to my limited talent, making a fine gown overnight is a piece of cake for me."

Cirella happily followed the tailor’s guidance, flipping through the book of designs page by page. Low-cut dresses, backless gowns, long skirts, short skirts, high updos, wavy curls…

"Why are these dresses all so tight!" She pouted unhappily:

"And these jewels are of such poor quality! I’ll provide the gems; you make them for me!"
