CHAPTER 28: NEW MISSION

RADKIEL

Asher stood in front of me as I drank my tea.

"Now, I have a new mission for you." I said to him.

"What is it?" He asked and dropped his bag on the floor.

I sighed and took a sip from my cup of tea. "There’s a planet filled with Phoenix’s in Fragment 632."

"What about them?"

"I want you to eliminate every single one of them."

"Why is that?" Asher asked me again. I could sense his curiosity had peaked.

"They’re becoming a problem on the level of the demons. Their leader Solaris, is as strong as if not stronger than Xoraxys." I explained to Asher.

I saw him raise his eyebrows in surprise and then he smiled.

"Alright. Anything else I need to know?" He asked.

"They are usually in their true forms." Gabriel spoke up from behind me. "They are usually in the form of a bird, but the moment any mortal sets foot on their planet they immediately take that form."

"How do they know if someone sets foot on their planet?" Asher asked Gabriel.

"Simple. A phoenix is a being that has heightened sensory abilities." Gabriel stated.

"Ok. So they’ll know I’m there off the bat, won’t they eliminate me immediately?" Asher asked.

"They might. I don’t know." I said to Asher.

"I don’t care. Just give me something to eat, I’m hungry." Asher replied.

"Go hunt for yourself, there’s beef now." Gabriel said and then walked away to sit under a tree.

"Yes, I created some the other day." I replied.

ASHERBLACKWOOD

I walked deeper into the garden. I had lived here for 3 months although time doesn’t flow here in any way and I had come to love this place with all my heart.

I saw a cow grazing a few meters away from me.

I formed a pistol with my hand and my index finger pointed at the cow.

"Bullet." Shots of Essence moving at light speed, hitting the cow in the head multiple times.

The animal fell down to the floor dead. I created a blade made out of Essence from thin air and used it to cut up the meat.

I couldn’t finish an entire cow but I needed to eat now and make the decision on where to keep the leftovers later.

I conjured up flames and roasted it till it was at the texture I needed.

I ate to my fill and a huge mass of beef was still left on the ground. I sighed and wondered what to do with it.

Then I remembered something from my training. Gabriel had trained me on how to create my very own pocket dimension.

But since I didn’t master it, it was filled with endless darkness to the core.

I opened the portal to the dimension and then dropped the entire hunk of beef inside of it, hoping it wouldn’t get spoiled.

I walked back to where Gabriel and Radkiel sat talking about something.

"I’m ready." I said to Radkiel who smiled at my determination.

"Now remember," Gabriel started. "You haven’t fought someone on the level of Solaris before. You never fought Xoraxys back then as well."

"But I did have you to contend with for three whole months." I replied.

"That was just training, if I was serious you would have been dead at just a thought." Gabriel frowned, his voice certain as always.

"Make sure to keep a cool head when you get there and make sure you finish the job. The Phoenix’s are immortal creatures as far as their ashes are still in existence." Radkiel added.

"That is common knowledge to any and everyone who knows what a Phoenix is capable of." I replied to him.

"So to kill them you would have to use the move you used against the djinns." Radkiel explained.

"You mean Oblivion?" I asked.

"Yes, oblivion. It’s currently your most powerful ability and is able to erase things on a conceptual level." Radkiel replied.

"Can’t I use the other abilities that Essence provides?" I asked Radkiel.

"According to what Gabriel told me, you haven’t trained to the point where you’ll be able to use those other abilities." Radkiel explained.

"Fine. Send me where I need to go." I said to him and he opened a portal beneath my feet and he smiled.

I screamed at him. "Oh fu-." I fell down the portal and landed in a place brimming with energy.

I could feel the Essence permeating through the air and it was pure elation.

I looked around and saw that I was close to a giant body of water. I dipped my hand inside it and when it came out, it was white.

It was the sea. I looked around and saw humans talking to each other in clusters.

I walked towards them and then they turned to me in hostility. I was shocked but then I remembered Radkiel’s words.

They could sense that I was different. So they were of the Phoenix race.

The three of them attacked me. Their bodies lighting up in flames, they attacked with pure speed and precision far more superior to any human warrior.

I weaved and dodged without using Essence. They were fast, but slow compared to the likes of me.

I punched one of them through the chest which caused him to bleed out and die.

"Why? Why did you kill him?" One of the other two left alive asked and I could see both their energies rising.

It seemed like it was merging together. It shocked me, Radkiel never mentioned anything of this sort.

The sea behind us grew hotter and I could see fishes floating on top of the water dead.

"Absolute 0." The entire area froze up, even the flames were extinguished. At least that was what I thought.

The flames ignited once again and the merged Phoenix was standing, towering above me.

"A Phoenix’s flame can never be put out by anything in this world, not even death."
