A New Life in Fairy Tail
Chapter 44 44: Ur Joins the Guild
"In that case, I can use my teleportation magic to take you all there. It'll be faster."
"Alright. We'll be in your debt, then." Ur nodded in agreement.
Noah then thought of another issue. "You're not part of a guild right now, which means you can't take on official requests. Would you like to join our guild? Join Fairy Tail?"
"The same guild that you and Gildarts are in?"
"That's right. If you want to join, Gramps won't refuse."
"Lord Makarov... I've heard of him for a long time but have never had the chance to meet him."
"Then let's go to the guild together. You can meet him and handle the registration at the same time."
Ur didn't object, so the entire group set out, walking towards Fairy Tail.
On the way, Noah and Ur walked ahead. Noah took the opportunity to ask some questions about Ice-Make magic, which Ur answered with great patience. Behind them, the others had split into two groups. Simon, Gray, and Lyon were in one group, talking about magic and training, and recounting the scene of Noah's battle with Deliora. Gray was animatedly acting out what happened, Simon was listening with constant gasps of awe, and Lyon would add details, especially describing Noah's powerful spells, unable to hide his own longing for strength.
Erza, Kagura, and Ultear were in the other group. Erza and Kagura were asking about Ultear's health and how she was feeling now. They were also very curious about her relationship with her mother, and what it felt like to have a mom. Kagura and her brother Simon had lost their mother long ago, and Erza had never even met her own. Having never spent time with their mothers, they were naturally curious.
Ultear happily told them how much her mother cared for her. She recalled the time when her mother had taken her everywhere looking for a cure. Even though she had been delirious with fever back then, she could never forget the feeling of being carried on her mother's back. She talked about how she had almost misunderstood and thought her mother had abandoned her, and how it was all the fault of the Magic Development Bureau for giving them false information. In the end, it was Noah who had brought her face-to-face with her mother, clearing up the misunderstanding. Otherwise, she didn't know what would have happened.
After hearing her story, Erza and Kagura were happy for Ultear. They also told her about their own experiences, and how Noah had helped their village fend off the dark magic cult, saving everyone. Since Noah had helped all of them out of their respective predicaments, they naturally felt a close bond with each other. They excitedly talked about hearing the sounds of battle from a distance, and Ultear shared what she had seen of Noah's fight with Deliora.
As they chatted, they arrived at the entrance to Fairy Tail. The moment the doors opened, the usual noisy chaos greeted them.
A sharp-eyed guild member saw Noah and the others enter and shouted a greeting. "Noah, you're back! How did it go? I heard you did something big!"
"Erza and Kagura are here too! The two little ladies are as cute as ever!"
"Who's that beautiful lady in the back? Introduce us, Noah!" Macao and Wakaba spotted Ur at a glance, their eyes lighting up.
"And who's this little lady? So cute!" A guild member saw Ultear and heart-shapes appeared in his eyes. He tried to rush forward but was promptly thrown outside by Noah.
"Who are these two brats in the back? Don't block our view of the pretty girls."
"Hey! The difference in treatment is too much!" Gray and Lyon were very unhappy with how they were being treated.
Noah tossed aside several more guild members who tried to rush forward, leading Ur and her group to the counter, where Makarov was sitting and drinking.
Noah snatched Makarov's mug away. "Gramps, didn't I tell you not to drink? You're too old; drinking is bad for your health!"
"Just a little, just a little bit," Makarov said, trying to get his mug back. But Noah had already put it away. Makarov could only smack his lips and give up. He looked at Ur and the others behind Noah. "And who might these people be? What brings you here?"
"This is Ur, this is her daughter, Ultear, and these two are her disciples. Ultear, like Laxus, was born with too much magic power for her body to handle, and she's currently undergoing treatment at my house. Ur is running low on funds and would like to join the guild to take on requests and earn some money."
Noah gave a rough summary of their situation. Makarov thought for a moment, then said to Ur, "Ur, is it? I've heard of you. Many people have said you have the potential to become one of the Ten Wizard Saints."
Ur quickly replied with great humility, "You're too kind, Lord Makarov. Now that I have met you, I know I still have a long way to go."
Makarov, taking into account the recent events, agreed to her request. "Fairy Tail welcomes you."
"Thank you, Lord Makarov!"
"No need to be so formal. Just call me Master."
"Then thank you, Master!"
Seeing that Makarov had approved, Noah turned to the other three children. "Do you three want to join the guild as well? You'll be able to see and meet many more people and things."
Ultear hugged her mother's waist. "I'll go wherever Mama goes."
"If Ur is joining, I'm joining too. Besides, Noah is here," Gray said, looking at Ur and Noah.
"Same for me. If Ur is joining, so am I. I want to become stronger," Lyon said. After witnessing Noah's battle, he no longer claimed that Ur was the strongest, but it was clear he still wanted to surpass her.
Makarov approved the three children's request to join. After they had chosen their preferred colors and locations, he took out the stamp and applied the guild's emblem to them.
The moment the guild mark was placed on her, Ur immediately noticed the difference. She looked at Makarov in surprise. "Master, this is...?"
"This is a magic unique to our guild. It was Noah's idea, and he was the one who completed it," Makarov explained with a proud look on his face.
Noah quickly shook his head. "No, no, no, I only proposed the idea. The main thing was the help of that person. My idea could only be realized because of her. The credit should really go to her."
"Without your idea, this magic would never have been created. And that person is also very pleased with you."
Ur looked confused. "Who is 'that person'?"
"She's a member of our guild, but very few people know about her, and for now, she doesn't want more people to know," Makarov replied.
Not wanting to argue about who deserved more credit for the magic mark, Noah turned to Ur. "Ur, this magic will be very helpful for Ultear."
Ur quickly turned to look at her daughter and indeed saw that Ultear's complexion was even better than before.
