CHAPTER 32: 029 HEALED BY YOU

Yun Ya tried to stop Miaomiao, but it was already too late.

Miaomiao reacted a bit slowly, first stunned, then frowning deeply. He used the back of his hand to rub the spot she had just kissed, rubbing hard, furiously, until his fair and translucent cheek turned bright red in an instant.

He turned his head and looked at Yun Ya with a wronged expression, his clear eyes instantly misting over with a layer of water, causing Yun Ya’s heart to twist in pain.

Shen Luokui blinked her foxy eyes, "Little brother, don’t you like me?"

Yun Ya sighed inwardly, ignoring Shen Luokui, and took Miaomiao’s hand away, gently rubbing the reddened cheek. He looked straight into Miaomiao’s eyes to make sure he could read his lips clearly.

"It’s okay, she was joking with you. She said you’re cute and that she likes you."

Miaomiao pouted slightly, showing his displeasure, and held onto Yun Ya’s hand tightly.

Miaomiao doesn’t like being touched by others, except for her and Ji Die, who had taken care of him since he was young.

Yun Ya smiled slightly, pinching the piece of skin, "I’ve touched it; do you still dislike it now?"

Miaomiao shook his head and gave Yun Ya a sweet smile.

Shen Luokui pouted unhappily, "So it turns out you do dislike me..."

Yun Ya pursed his lips and turned to look at Shen Luokui, "He’s my brother, he’s a bit shy with strangers, it’s not that he dislikes you, he’s just not used to being in contact with people."

Shen Luokui’s eyes twinkled, and then she leaned in, giggling, "So it’s your brother, huh. You two are about the same height, at first glance I thought he was the younger brother."

Yun Ya just smiled and said nothing.

She turned to the other two little boys, smiling, "Hello, my name is Ji Yunya, and this is my brother Ji Yunmiao."

Mai Zheng looked arrogantly away, turning his head to the side as if too disdainful to reply.

Yue Yi’an gave a shy smile, his two small tiger teeth showing, looking very white and cute.

"I’m Yue Yi’an, nice to meet you Yun Ya, nice to meet you Yun Miao."

The children seemed to have made their acquaintance.

The director explained the rules, and all the children, being clever, almost immediately understood them and couldn’t wait to try.

Yun Ya then gave Miaomiao the opportunity to play.

The competition was a puzzle race; whoever completed it first would get the map to the best house, and the child who found it first would be the winner.

The director didn’t have much hope for Miaomiao, because he seemed rather indifferent and didn’t speak, obediently following Yun Ya and easy to overlook.

The race began with the announcement from the director; the other three started scrabbling for the puzzle pieces, with Mai Zheng moving the fastest. He glanced at the others with a self-satisfied look, his hands steady and unruffled.

"Ji Yunmiao finished first, taking ten seconds," the director abruptly announced the result, causing the other three to freeze.

Yun Ya and Miaomiao received the map sent by the director’s team and used the walkie-talkie to contact Ming Han. As soon as the connection went through, Ming Han’s exaggerated screams came from the other side.

Yun Ya’s soft and sweet voice came through the communication device, its serene power instantly calming the nearly agitated Ming Han.

"From now on, follow my commands; I will be your eyes."

Ming Han, tormented by darkness to the verge of madness, was inexplicably healed by these words.

"I am your eyes, so go ahead and step boldly..."

"Starting from now, walk five steps forward, then turn right..."

Ming Han’s initial hesitation had turned into resolute steps by the end; as soon as Yun Ya’s voice faded, he had already taken a step, rounding the corner, climbing the stairs, and finding the room, all in one go.

Following the director’s cue, Ming Han removed his blindfold and looked around the luxuriously furnished room, feeling a great sense of achievement.

Then came Mai Zheng and Mai Jiehui in second, Gao He and Yue Yi’an third, with Shen Xudong and Shen Luokui last; Shen Xudong also created several humorous moments along the way, becoming the biggest source of laughter in the show.

After everyone had found their rooms, it was time for a grand gathering, a chance for the four families to get to know each other.

In the villa’s living room, candles burned high on the long rectangular dining table, romantic and luxurious.

An array of exquisite dishes spread before them, whetting the appetite at first glance.

After the families had met, they took their seats, with Mai Jiehui being the highest profile among them, naturally attracting more camera attention, followed by Ming Han, Yun Ya, and Yun Miao.

Ming Han was handsome and striking, always the center of attention, and the twins Yun Ya and Yun Miao were sweet and well-behaved, the three together looking as beautiful as a painting.

The adults exchanged pleasantries, with Gao He and Shen Xudong treating Mai Jiehui as the Boss, their words laced with subtle flattery; though Ming Han was arrogant, he respected Mai Jiehui, thus their interaction was very harmonious.

Mai Zheng, Yue Yi’an, and Shen Luokui played together, with the children quickly becoming friends and soon seeming inseparable. Yun Ya and Yun Miao sat quietly by Ming Han, appearing somewhat out of place.

Shen Luokui ran over to Yun Ya and stuffed a teddy bear into her hands: "This is my favorite doll, and now I’m lending it to you to play with."

Yun Ya smiled sweetly at her: "Thank you."

Shen Luokui glanced at Yun Miao, hesitated for a moment, then leaned close to Yun Ya’s ear and whispered, "Is your brother unable to speak?"

Yun Ya’s pupils suddenly constricted, then she slowly broke into a smile and looked sideways at Shen Luokui: "He was born deaf and mute."

"Oh..." Shen Luokui covered her mouth in disbelief, taking a few more glances at Yun Miao, remorse and guilt in her eyes: "I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked."

Yun Ya smiled: "It’s nothing, I was prepared for this when I brought him to participate in the show."

They were inevitably putting Yun Miao in front of the national audience, but what of it? Miaomiao didn’t care, nor did she. Nothing was more important than living.

Ming Han hadn’t meant to eavesdrop, but the two hadn’t lowered their voices, and he heard every word.

So the little boy was deaf and mute.

His first reaction wasn’t to blame the production team for tricking him into dealing with such an "outsider," but rather a sense of pity. The child was too well-behaved, quietly sticking by Yun Ya’s side without crying or fussing, so quiet he almost seemed nonexistent.

He turned to look at Yun Miao, who was exceptionally delicate and lovely, with eyes as clear as spring water—this child, who had been sentenced to a death penalty by fate from birth.

He understood that during the puzzle earlier, Yun Miao had completed it in ten seconds, while Mai Zheng, who came in second, took forty-five seconds, astonishing everyone.

When heaven closes a door, it opens a window for him.

His gaze fell on Yun Ya, who was talking to Shen Luokui. Her demeanor was calm, her actions not at all like those of a five-year-old child.

A mischievous smile played upon his lips.

It seemed this recording session would be quite interesting.
