A second chance with my billionaire husband
Chapter 43: Outrageous
CHAPTER 43: OUTRAGEOUS
The night was deep, yet the Yun Family hall was brightly lit.
The guests had long since left, leaving several figures either sitting or standing in the living room.
Yun Shu sat on the sofa, her previously graceful and gentle smile now gone, coldly looking at the two people standing before her.
Kang Jinse stood beside her, pale, glancing from time to time at the woman, with a sudden flash of hatred in her eyes.
The two people standing in front of Yun Shu were none other than Yun Shen and Bai Ran.
Yun Shen’s face was icy cold, his body tense, suppressing his anger, much like the calm before the storm.
Bai Ran’s skirt was wrinkled, her hair slightly disheveled, with an air of nonchalance.
"Isn’t the joy between men and women a very common thing? What’s there to be shocked about? Besides, I didn’t ask President Yun to take responsibility. If anyone is at a disadvantage, it should be me, right? What’s with those cold faces, who are you showing your grievances to?"
Bai Ran tossed her hair flirtatiously, charming and seductive.
Yun Shu’s heart ached with anger. This woman had disrupted her party and still dared to argue? Not to mention the negative impact she had caused on her Shenshen—all too aware of the unsavory rumors that would spread the next day.
How could such a woman be worthy of becoming her daughter-in-law?
"Miss Bai, I need a reasonable explanation for tonight’s incident."
Bai Ran raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly, "With so many people having witnessed it, what more explanation does Lady Yun want? Or do you think I haven’t been humiliated enough? Obviously, I am the one at a loss here. Don’t fucking act like I raped your son."
Such coarse language... Yun Shu frowned in disgust.
Kang Jinse pointed at her and shrieked, "It must have been you who seduced Brother Shen, you woman, so scheming...".
Bai Ran’s gaze mockingly circled around her abdomen, causing Kang Jinse to subconsciously cover her stomach.
Bai Ran sneered, "This kind of thing requires mutual consent, or do you think my physique could have forced him?"
Her words left Kang Jinse white-faced. She turned her head towards Yun Shen, who had been silent all along, seeking an explanation, hoping he would confess it was a moment of confusion and passion. She was willing to forgive him.
Yun Shen stood there silently as if he were transforming into a tree, his entire being radiating a keep away aura.
Bai Ran slung her bag over her shoulder, glanced at Yun Shen, and stuffed a piece of paper into his hand while breathing a whisper like orchids in his ear.
"President Yun, I didn’t expect you to seem so aloof, yet be so passionate in bed, like a blazing fire, nearly burning me up. Here’s my number. If you miss me, just call. I’m always ready to serve."
After her words fell, loaded with implication, she shot a glance at Kang Jinse and Yun Shu, saw their ashen faces, and with a playful laugh, clicked away in her high heels.
Yun Shu swept the teacup off the table onto the floor with a "whoosh," exclaiming, "This is preposterous."
She seldom lost her temper, but Yun Shen was her vulnerable point, and anyone who dared to provoke that would severely disrupt the tranquility she always maintained.
She turned to Yun Shen, "Go to the PR department immediately and suppress this incident, you must not let yourself be entangled with that kind of woman."
"I have my own plans for this situation," Yun Shen said, his gaze dark, showing neither anger nor calm.
"You’ve had a hard day, get some good rest." With those words, Yun Shen picked up the car keys from the table and left the house without looking back.
"Brother Shen..." Kang Jinse chased after him, but there was no sign of Yun Shen.
——
Having witnessed quite a drama, Yun Ya was delighted.
Bai Ran surely had some tricks up her sleeve, the way she infuriated Yun Shu. She was the first to make Yun Shu admit defeat, and Yun Ya had to admit he was a bit impressed.
One Kang Jinse, one Bai Ran, these two women are enough to give you a headache.
Yun Shen, don’t be too grateful to me.
That night, Yun Ya slept very soundly.
Early the next morning, Ji Die rushed in, panic-stricken, "Little miss, something terrible has happened, your husband-to-be has gone public."
Ji Die handed a newspaper over to Yun Ya, and in bold red letters at the top of the entertainment section read: Kang Jinse cheated on? Yun Shen finds new love.
The editor was quite amusing, using humorous and witty language without missing the chance to tease and mock, subtly satirizing Yun Shen for cheating on a socialite, with Kang Jinse being cast aside.
Yun Ya glanced at the paper and then returned it to Ji Die, "This newspaper has quite the nerve, I reckon it’ll soon be bought out by Yun Shen."
"Little miss, aren’t you sad?" Ji Die asked tentatively and cautiously observed Yun Ya’s expression.
"Why should I be sad?" Yun Ya said with a chuckle, glancing at Ji Die.
"Your husband-to-be, he..." Ji Die was taken aback, the young miss was smart, but after all, she was just a five-year-old child. Could she really understand the complex emotions between men and women?
"It’s nothing."
Yun Ya looked at Ji Die, now wiser, knowing what to ask and what not to.
"I’m going to meet Uncle Qin today, along with my not-yet-met brother, Qin Du. Aunt Die, please get me that sky-blue dress," Yun Ya said with a hooked lip, in a very pleasant mood.
——
Qin Du was abandoned at the doorstep of an orphanage the moment he was born. He had been adopted several times, but just after a few days, he would be returned, resulting in his sensitive and withdrawn personality.
He was taken home by Qin Zhuan from the orphanage at the age of five. Among a group of children, Qin Zhuan singled him out because the other children, eager to escape the orphanage, crowded around him and ingratiatingly called him uncle, their eyes filled with hope which Qin Zhuan found quite discomforting.
Only one little boy was different. He stood far away under a Chinese parasol tree with the detached gaze of an outsider, numb and cold, looking on. That moment, Qin Zhuan was attracted by the calm in the boy’s eyes that belied his age. He pointed to the lonely-looking boy and told the head of the orphanage, "I want him."
Qin Du was a very well-behaved child. Perhaps his experiences of being returned made him exceedingly cautious and eager to please, to the point where Qin Zhuan felt hopeless to find fault and thought he should give him more time.
Three years passed, and he and Qin Du had come to rely on each other, with Qin Du having let down his guard, he would laugh and play, argue and fuss with him like any father and son would do.
If Ji Lanyi had taught him about love and giving, then Qin Du taught him about carrying burdens and responsibilities.
Qin Du, just eight years old, already possessed the demeanor of a young lad, tall and lean, dressed in a blue casual outfit, with a handsome and delicate face, and a warm, bright smile that warmed Yun Ya’s world like the sun.
