A second chance with my billionaire husband
Chapter 49 - 046 As you wish
CHAPTER 49: 046 AS YOU WISH
Bai Ran rifled through her bag and pulled out a pregnancy test, her fingers trembling as she tore open the package.
Outside the door, Gu Chunrong continued to knock anxiously.
Five minutes later.
Bai Ran sat on the toilet in a daze, staring at the two blazing red lines on the pregnancy test, feeling as if she had been struck by lightning.
How could she possibly be pregnant?
Recently, she had felt unwell and sneakily went to the hospital for a checkup, just in case. She used a friend’s identity, but the lab results showed no significant issues. She was relieved, but on the other hand, something didn’t feel right, so, as if possessed, she ran to the drugstore to buy a pregnancy test, which she had hidden in her bag ever since.
The examination results indicated she wasn’t pregnant, but only a week had passed, and she had always been careful with protection. Logically, it was impossible for her to be pregnant.
Pregnancy tests can be wrong, Bai Ran decided to have another check at the hospital; it was too early to draw conclusions.
Although she comforted herself with these thoughts, deep down she had silently accepted the result.
The door to the bathroom suddenly opened from the inside. Gu Chunrong saw Bai Ran walk out with a pale face, a fragile beauty emanating from her. She was stunned for a moment, then quickly stepped forward to support her.
"Ranran, are you feeling unwell? Let your sister-in-law take you to the hospital for a checkup," she suggested.
Bai Ran shuddered subconsciously but replied calmly, "I’m fine. My stomach’s been a bit upset these past few days, but I’ve already taken some medicine. Don’t worry about me, sister-in-law."
"How can I not worry? You are still so young; you can’t afford to neglect a stomach ailment," Gu Chunrong’s gentle voice was very endearing.
A trace of mockery flickered in Bai Ran’s downcast eyes.
This sister-in-law always put on a perfect facade, but the calculating shrewdness that occasionally dashed across her eyes didn’t escape Bai Ran’s notice.
"If you’re feeling unwell, you should go to the hospital early for a checkup, otherwise, being so young, you might develop a chronic condition, and in the end, you’ll be the one to suffer," Bai Lun said sternly.
Bai Ran felt so choked up that she could barely breathe, her nails subconsciously digging into her palm. She lowered her eyelashes and replied quietly, "Big brother, I’m okay."
Taking the opportunity to change the subject, Bai Lun said, "I read the paper; you did well. Ranran, if you can successfully marry Yun Shen, you will have saved our Bai Family."
Bai Ran took a deep breath, looking at Bai Lun’s stern and merciless countenance and Gu Chunrong’s expectant, calculating gaze, a wave of desolation suddenly rose in her heart.
Her gaze lowered to her abdomen, where a deep and icy luster flickered in her eyes, like a meteor, fleeting.
When she looked up again, she was still that charming and sensual Miss Bai, flamboyant and born with a distinctive allure.
"Big brother, as you wish."
——
The café at four o’clock in the afternoon.
Lazy sunlight penetrated through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting golden glows that made one feel intoxicated.
In a corner, Zhuang Xiyue glanced at the little boy sitting upright beside her, shaking her head in resignation and, for the umpteenth time, admonished, "You must be good to Yun Ya later. If you dare to bully her again, I’ll never take you out again. Do you hear me?" Zhuang Xiyue’s tone was quite stern.
Past events played vividly before her eyes; this kid was a little devil. Without a reminder, he would surely pick on Yun Ya.
The little boy, dressed in a black suit with a bow tie around his neck and hair combed back sleekly, had a fair and delicate face with rosy lips and white teeth but wore a rather cold expression, his brows slightly furrowed, seeming extremely impatient.
"Have you said enough?"
Zhuang Xiyue glared at him, "What tone is that? I’m your mom."
"Huh..." Yan Song uttered coldly, "I just wanted to say, if you’re thirsty, let me pour you a glass of water." He pushed the juice on the table in front of her as he spoke.
Zhuang Xiyue thought to herself: This little bastard.
Two hours earlier.
Zhuang Xiyue had just hung up the phone when she turned around to see Yan Song standing right behind her, giving her a good scare.
"You nearly scared me to death, kid."
"You need to work on your courage." Yan Song dropped this comment and left with his toy.
Remembering her appointment with Yun Ya, Zhuang Xiyue decided not to argue with him and went upstairs to find Yan Ke, "Gege, do you want mom to take you to see Sister Yun Ya?"
Yan Ke danced with joy, "Yes, yes, Gege loves Sister Yun Ya the most."
Yan Song snorted through his nose.
After changing Yan Ke’s clothes, he suddenly needed to go urgently and scurried into the bathroom on his short legs. Zhuang Xiyue went back to her room to change.
Yan Song’s eyes darted around and he slipped into the bathroom.
Just when she was about to leave, Yan Ke suddenly burst into tears, refusing to go. Zhuang Xiyue was so worried, thinking the child was feeling unwell, but he ended up crying himself to sleep. How could they go out like this?
By then, a refreshed Yan Song was leaning against the doorframe, speaking reluctantly, "I’m bored with nothing to do, I might as well go out with you."
Zhuang Xiyue thought to herself, since Gege was asleep, why not take Yan Song along? He probably wouldn’t dare to openly mistreat Yun Ya in front of her.
And so, Yan Song went to the banquet with Zhuang Xiyue.
In his sleep, Yan Ke smacked his lips adorably, blowing bubbles as he mumbled, "Brother... my Transformer..."
——
At four o’clock sharp, Yun Ya arrived as planned.
The young girl was dressed in a yellow T-shirt and dark blue jean overalls, her hair tied up in buns. Her slender frame was beginning to show the grace of a young lady. Walking in the sunshine of late spring and early summer, her skin was so fair it was almost translucent, her demeanor regal and elegant as if she were a princess stepping out of a castle, making everything around her mere background.
Her eyes were like two spots of ink, her smile tender, her posture generous and dignified.
It was hard to imagine such an aura on a girl of merely five years old, as if it were ingrained in her very bones, and even a single strand of her hair seemed filled with an untouchable, noble sanctity.
For a moment, Yan Song was spellbound.
In the years that followed, he revisited this image countless times. Though he would never admit it, at the age of seven, he had already developed feelings for the five-year-old Yun Ya.
Unfortunately, at that time he did not understand these romantic sentiments. That indescribable flutter of his heart he interpreted as a shameful secret, tucked away, fermented, sealed up, with time as a raft and the years as a vessel, this little boat named love sailed farther and farther in the sea of his heart.
His heart’s lake rippled and rippled again.
At this time, he didn’t know that one day he would love her so deeply, surpassing dignity and life, etched into every crevice of his bones and existence.
On his tombstone, there would be an inscription.
To love you with all my life.
