A second chance with my billionaire husband
Chapter 56 - 053 Who is more ruthless than whom
CHAPTER 56: 053 WHO IS MORE RUTHLESS THAN WHOM
On the Friday morning breakfast table, Yun Shu finished her meal elegantly, wiped her mouth, and then looked towards Yun Ya.
"The Qingming Festival is approaching. The family ancestral rituals are about to start back at the old home. Grandma has something that keeps her from getting away, so I need you to go back to our hometown with your dad on my behalf. Pay your respects at the graves of our ancestors, bow your heads, apologize to our forefathers, and also take the chance to show them how the Yun Family has raised two such exceptional children."
Yun Ya’s gaze slightly narrowed as she lowered her head impassively.
She couldn’t hold back any longer, could she?
What an excuse she’s managed to conjure—doesn’t she feel embarrassed? Having two children go back to our hometown to worship our ancestors, I bet even our ancestors would be angry enough to jump out of their coffins.
"But me and Miaomiao...."
"Don’t worry, I’ll have Yun Sha accompany you two back." Yun Shu directly cut off Yun Ya’s words.
Yun Ya obediently bowed her head, "I’ll listen to Grandma."
Yun Shu smiled tolerantly, "That’s a good, obedient child."
A hint of sarcasm crossed the depths of Yun Ya’s downcast eyes.
If she were obedient, she wouldn’t expect to live a normal life.
But what exactly does she want to do?
"There’s no time like the present; you should set off this morning."
Yun Ya only had time to send a text message to Uncle Qin before Yun Sha came in, and quickly hid her phone inside Yun Miao’s hat.
Having decently packed for the two of them, Yun Sha smiled at Yun Ya, "Miss Yun Ya, shall we go?"
"I don’t know where Grandma’s old home is? It’s my first time going there. I wonder if it’s cold?" Yun Ya casually asked.
Thinking little of the young girl’s intelligence, Yun Sha chuckled, "The lady’s old home is a place where even a drip turns into ice. Everything is draped in silver. Miss Yun Ya, who has never seen heavy snow, will surely fall in love with the place."
"Really? I love snow very much and finally, I can fulfill my wish," the young girl said naively and sweetly.
Yun Sha looked at Yun Ya with a touch of pity. Such a good girl, what a shame...
"Goodbye, Grandma." Out of the descending car window, Yun Ya waved with a sweet smile.
Yun Shu’s face was affectionate and gentle as she responded, "Have a safe trip."
Her eyes, under the sunlight, took on an almost transparent hue, indifferent and icy.
Of course, it meant, ’never see you again.’
As the car started and left, Yun Shu indifferently turned around, her lips curled into a light smile, seemingly in a very good mood.
The same turn, the same silhouette, it was a scene so similar to one from her previous life.
Yun Ya held Yun Miao’s hand tightly, forcing herself to calm down. Under Yun Sha’s watchful gaze, she didn’t reveal the slightest flaw.
She knew very well, this departure could be one with no chance of return.
If Yun Shu were to act with a bit more cruelty, she and Miaomiao might just silently disappear from this world, with no one the wiser.
That was her modus operandi, all this talk of blood relations and morals and goodness, she’s nothing but a madwoman.
Not only did she carry Mu Qingci’s blood in her veins, but also her own, and so many times, she was more like Yun Shu, inheriting the same obsession and madness.
So let us see... who can be more ruthless.
—
As the car turned onto the highway, Yun Ya noted the road signs, silently memorizing the route. Then when Yun Sha wasn’t looking, she quietly sent out the text message.
With Yun Ya by his side, Yun Miao was always very quiet, and it didn’t take long before he fell asleep leaning on her. Watching the tranquil sleeping face of Yun Miao, Yun Ya felt suffused with strength.
Two hours later, the car stopped at a service station. Yun Ya woke Yun Miao and, with her still groggy brother, stepped out of the car.
"Does Miss Yun Ya need to go to the restroom?" Yun Sha, who followed them down, asked.
Yun Ya nodded.
"I’ll take you there."
Yun Miao, being a boy, obviously couldn’t enter the ladies’ restroom, so Yun Sha asked the driver to take Yun Miao to the men’s restroom while she followed Yun Ya into the ladies’.
Ladies’ restrooms had individual stalls separated by partitions. Yun Ya closed the door, cutting off Yun Sha’s line of sight.
"Granny Yun Sha, I need to poo-poo, do you have any paper?" Yun Ya’s childlike voice suddenly came from inside.
Yun Sha checked her pockets, but she didn’t bring any.
"Miss Yun Ya, you wait here for me. I will go get some paper. Please, don’t go anywhere," she said.
Listening to the footsteps growing distant, Yun Ya stood up, cracked the door open slightly, and quickly scanned the surroundings.
Nearing noon, the service station wasn’t crowded, and the restroom was totally empty, so silent you could hear your echo.
Yun Ya made sure there was no one else in the other stalls, then assessed the likelihood of someone coming from the vehicles she saw, ensuring there were no issues before proceeding. She washed the inside and outside of her hands with the hand sanitizer and casually picked up the upright dustpan next to the washstand.
It was the kind of dustpan commonly used by cleaning staff, made of metal with a long handle for the convenience of older workers, so they wouldn’t have to bend over to sweep trash. It was handy but with prolonged use, the metal edges would wear and become loose, exposing sharp edges that were very sharp.
Yun Ya held it and tested its balance, grasping the bottom and aiming the handle at the air in front before giving it a hard swing.
Footsteps approached gradually, and Yun Ya silently counted the seconds in her mind.
In the moment a figure appeared, Yun Ya stepped out from behind the door without a sound and swung the dustpan’s handle hard at the person’s head.
