A second chance with my billionaire husband
Chapter 64 - 061 Incestuous Offspring
CHAPTER 64: 061 INCESTUOUS OFFSPRING
Upon returning to the living room, away from those prying eyes, Yun Shu’s smile visibly faded. With a wave of her hand, she shook off the two of them, leaving Yun Ya and Yun Miao to crash onto the floor.
Turning around, her brows furrowed and her gaze coldly landed on Yun Ya.
That look in her eyes seemed to wish she could tear him to pieces alive.
Yun Ya slowly got up from the ground, first helping Yun Miao to his feet, ensuring he was alright, before turning to Yun Shu with a smile. His beautiful eyes were crystal clear like gemstones, the hint of ridicule in them fleeting like reflected light.
"Grandma, what’s wrong? You don’t look well, are you sick?" That concerned facade could truly fool the uninformed into thinking she worried for Yun Shu’s safety.
Yun Shu was so angry she was about to slap Yun Ya across the face.
Yun Ya remained expressionless, standing still, without even a flutter of her eyelashes.
Just as the blow was about to land on her skin, Yun Shu suddenly stopped her hand.
With a smile brimming with innocence, Yun Ya asked, "Grandma, why didn’t you keep going?"
Pointing at her delicate cheek, Yun Ya spoke with a touch of grievance, "This is truly disappointing. Even though Grandma’s words may have temporarily eased the reporters’ doubts, do you really think that flies don’t linger near unbroken eggs? To think your smooth tongue could persuade those gossip-hungry reporters to give up is just too naive, Grandma." Yun Ya shook her head, her gaze mocking as she looked at Yun Shu.
Yun Shu bit her teeth together, forcing herself to calm down.
"Ji Yun Ya, so this is your true face. Good, very good, certainly befitting as my granddaughter, Yun Shu...."
With a smile, Yun Ya replied, "Indeed, not only do I have Mu Qingci’s blood in my veins but yours as well, Grandma. If not like you, then whom do I resemble?"
At the mention of that name, Yun Shu’s pupils suddenly shrank, her face distorting slightly.
"Don’t you dare bring up that woman."
The name Mu Qingci was almost a nightmare in her life, a hatred so deep... Her chest heaved with suppressed rage, and she couldn’t help but dig her nails painfully into the palm of her hand. Even as the blood began to flow, those deep-rooted jealousies remained unresolved after many years.
Yun Ya was a bit shocked by Yun Shu’s frenzied reaction to the mention of Mu Qingci. It seemed the shadow cast by Mu Qingci was indeed very deep. Yun Ya smiled lightly, her eyes filled with nostalgia.
"My mother told me that grandmother was a very gentle and intelligent woman. She and grandfather were childhood sweethearts, devoted to one another. Sadly, she was destined for an early demise, passing away from illness when my mother was young. I heard grandfather held grandmother’s body for three days straight without eating or drinking in the room. After her death, he never remarried and stayed faithful to her his whole life. He even founded a Charity Foundation in her memory. Such a deeply loving man is truly rare in this world."
"Shut your mouth," Yun Shu roared, her neck crooked as if she was on the edge of explosion, yet she forcefully repressed it, her face twisting into something quite terrifying.
Her fingertips trembled, her gaze icy as she stared at Yun Ya: "That bitch Mu Qingci, I considered her a dear friend, yet she relentlessly seduced my man. Huaixi loved me the most—what was Mu Qingci but nothing."
Yun Ya scoffed coldly, thinking this woman must have delusions—and serious ones at that.
"But as far as I know, my grandfather and grandmother met as children in an orphanage. They were the real childhood sweethearts. At that time, Grandma, perhaps you were still playing in the mud in some remote town," Yun Ya said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
You were the one who intruded on my grandparents’ relationship, yet you have the audacity to shamelessly call my grandmother shameless. Such thick skin is truly unmatched.
Yun Ya had not experienced the chaotic and complex past between her grandparents and Yun Shu, hence she was uninformed, but she had sneaked peeks at her grandfather’s diaries. The one thing she was certain of was that the only woman her grandfather had ever loved his whole life was her grandmother, Mu Qingci.
As for Yun Shu, her grandfather never even spared her a glance. It was Yun Shu who schemed to have him, not caring that he was her best friend’s boyfriend, even resorting to drugging him with the most despicable tactics. Despite all that, the grandfather remained unmoved, and Yun Shen was the product of that single incident.
From love turned to hate, Yun Shu harbored her resentments for years, using her own son to take revenge against Ji Huaixi and the only daughter left behind by Mu Qingci.
The illegitimate child would end up with his most beloved daughter...
This was incest!
Ji Huaixi died of rage; Ji Lanyi disappeared; Yun Shen naturally inherited all of the Ji Family’s properties—Yun Shu’s revenge was successful.
But what about me and Miaomiao, as products of an incestuous union, subjected to what seemed like divine retribution?
More precisely, according to biological principles, we received the same genes from our common ancestors and passed them on to our children. If this gene followed an autosomal recessive pattern of inheritance, our children could become afflicted if they were homozygous for the mutation, increasing the risk of certain autosomal recessive genetic diseases.
So, both Miaomiao and I were ill—Miaomiao with a congenital disability, and me, with mental illness, perhaps with other undiagnosed ailments lurking within my body for the time being.
From the very beginning, Miaomiao and I were destined to be children abandoned by the heavens, and now, Ji Lanyi abandoned us too. Our biological father and grandmother saw us as thorns in their sides, nuisances to be disposed of.
But how does that matter? Even if everyone abandoned Miaomiao and me, we still have each other. As long as Miaomiao is by my side, I can face anything thrown my way—be it gods or Buddhas.
If I’m fated to be abandoned, then what is it to defy the odds? In this cold and dark world, if I am heartless, how could I possibly be in pain?
