A second chance with my billionaire husband
Chapter 85 - 082 Return a hundredfold
CHAPTER 85: 082 RETURN A HUNDREDFOLD
"All I want is for Miaomiao to be safe; otherwise, I’m capable of killing, you know that very well, don’t you?" Yun Ya said, glancing at Kang Jinxian.
Kang Jinxian had never seen such a terrifying look; hidden in the dim corner, those pitch-black pupils were like a fathomless dark pool, firmly capturing all her attention.
She was like someone who had been put under a spell, unable to move or speak, and the murderous aura and oppression emanating from those dreadful eyes made her forget how to react.
She was four years senior to Yun Ya and much taller; if she fought back, she really wouldn’t need to fear him, but she was too scared, her fear made her forget all instinctive reactions.
Soon, Yun Shu’s voice, suppressed with anger, came through the phone, Yun Ya even heard the sound of gritted teeth, "Your Miaomiao is perfectly safe, just a fool; I wouldn’t dirty my hands."
Yun Ya relaxed inside, but his expression remained unchanged. The small knife pressed against Kang Jinxian’s neck even moved two inches closer, causing her to start sobbing with fear.
"You better remember what you’ve said, if I find any injury on Miaomiao when I return, I will repay it tenfold, a hundredfold, on your precious daughter."
He hung up the phone without listening to Yun Shu’s panic-stricken, rough breathing any longer.
When he looked up again, his face was smeared with a gentle smile. Raising his hand, he adjusted the hair that had fallen by Kang Jinxian’s temples. She shrank back instinctively, it was better when he didn’t smile, because that smile was truly terrifying.
"Aunt Ah Xian, Yun Ya was just joking with you right now, scared you, didn’t I?" The girl’s eyes, clear and honest, sparkled with a sincere and bright light, which was so comforting to look at.
However, Kang Jinxian’s skin crawled with goosebumps, and her scalp tingled.
Yun Ya’s gaze landed on Kang Jinxian’s neck, where a thin red mark on her fair and delicate skin was alarming.
Yun Ya casually put the knife into his bag, then raised his hand to straighten Kang Jinxian’s collar, perfectly concealing the mark.
Blood dripped down her arm. Yun Ya took a handkerchief out of his bag and wrapped up the wound on her arm simply. The girl hung her head, and from Kang Jinxian’s angle, she could see the girl’s fair and delicate nose bridge, and those incredibly thick eyelashes.
Her expression was very serious, with a kind of sanctified beauty.
Kang Jinxian suddenly felt a sharp pain at the wound site.
After tying a beautiful butterfly knot, Yun Ya pulled down his sleeve to cover the wound, then he reached out to take Kang Jinxian’s hand.
"Aunt Ah Xian, let’s go, so we won’t keep Aunt Bai waiting," he said.
His expression was calm as if the threats and murderous intent from earlier had never existed. It wasn’t until they stepped out of the restroom and breathed fresh air that Kang Jinxian felt fully alive again, as if everything was just a dream. But the sting on her arm reminded her it was all real.
She glanced at the girl walking beside her, pursed her lips, and suppressed the fear in her heart, walking quietly beside her.
"Aunt Bai," Yun Ya said as he sat down in his own spot.
Bai Ran, looking disoriented, glanced at the two and asked, "Why did you take so long?"
Full of anxiety, she did not notice the strange atmosphere between the two, nor Kang Jinxian’s particularly pale face.
"Ran into an annoying little mouse, it held us up a bit. I apologize for making Aunt Bai wait," Yun Ya said with a polite smile.
Bai Ran was too distracted to ponder how a high-end café could have bugs like mice and called the waiter over to prepare to check out and leave.
Bai Ran seemed distracted all the way home and, once there, she didn’t even bother with Yun Shu, who sat on the living room couch with a gloomy face. She rushed upstairs, looking worn out.
Yun Ya and Kang Jinxian then entered the living room.
The moment she saw Yun Shu, Kang Jinxian ran to her, burying herself in her embrace and began sobbing quietly. She eventually burst into loud crying as if she had been wronged greatly, her fragile appearance easily arousing one’s pity.
Yun Ya glanced indifferently, then started up the stairs.
"Stop," Yun Shu suddenly spoke.
Yun Ya halted, but did not turn around, "Grandma, is there something you need?"
Yun Shu gently patted Kang Jinxian’s back while speaking with a voice as cold as ice.
"Ji Yunya, you’ve become bolder, thinking you can protect yourself by relying on that laughable public opinion?"
A dark look crossed Kang Jinxian’s eyes as she buried her face in Yun Shu’s lap.
"If others don’t offend me, I won’t offend them, but if someone offends me...."
The girl stood with her back straight as an arrow, young as she was, her spirit was already exceptional.
The firm voice followed, seemingly feeble and lacking strength, yet it resonated like a large bell, heavily weighing on one’s heart, almost leaving one breathless.
"I shall repay a hundredfold."
As Yun Ya watched Yaya’s figure disappear at the stairwell, a glint of icy killing intent flashed in Yun Shu’s eyes.
"Aunt Yun, I thought I would never see you again. At that moment, I was really scared...." Kang Jinxian said timidly, cuddling into Yun Shu’s arms, her hands tightly wrapped around her waist, her face still streaked with un-dried tears. The dependence made Yun Shu’s heart instantly soft.
"Ah Xian, be good, no one will be able to threaten you ever again, that little bitch, I will never let her off...."
The grinding of teeth could be heard in her voice, sounding like heavenly music to Kang Jinxian’s ears.
Suppressing the smile in her eyes, Kang Jinxian nestled into Yun Shu like a cat.
——
Ji Yunya’s fingers trembled as she opened the door; the bedroom was as clean and tidy as when she left.
A strand of hair she had placed atop the door fell to the ground, proving that someone indeed had been in.
The bed was empty, the play area was empty, and so was in front of the bookshelf.
She swept her gaze across the whole room, Miaomiao, where are you?
"Under the bridge in front of the door, a duck swam by, come quickly and count, two four six seven eight...."
The nursery rhyme suddenly rang out, and in the eerie stillness of the room, it sounded particularly clear.
Yun Ya was startled and quickly ran toward the balcony.
Yun Miao was squatting on the balcony playing with a toy phone, pressing the buttons triggered different nursery rhymes. His interest piqued, he pressed the buttons one by one, and although he couldn’t hear the singing, he laughed joyfully. His smile under the sunlight was pure and bright, illuminating Ji Yunya’s dark and cold world.
As if sensing something, Yun Miao looked up and saw Yun Ya. Suddenly he smiled, shook the toy in his hand as if to say,
Yaya, this is really fun, come and play with me.
His world was forever simple and beautiful, carefree, without worries, hatred, or pain.
She curved her lips into a smile, walked over, and squatted beside him, lifting her hand to touch his head.
——Miaomiao, did anyone come in just now?
Miaomiao furrowed his brow as if thinking really hard, then smiled and nodded.
——What did she say to Miaomiao?
Miaomiao’s smile grew wider, radiant as the blazing sun outside the window. Yun Ya felt a sting in her eyes and hastily lowered them to hide the sourness.
But she didn’t want to miss anything Miaomiao might say, so she lifted her gaze to his lips.
——She said I’m very smart and that she’ll give me lots of toys. Yaya, does she really like me?
Such an innocent expression made Yun Ya unsure of what to say for a moment.
After a while, she nodded.
——Yes, any boy as clever and well-behaved as Miaomiao would be liked by everyone who meets him.
Yun Miao beamed with joy.
Out of Yun Miao’s sight, Yun Ya’s eyes conveyed a heavy seriousness.
