A Serpent's Tale
Chapter 352: Cult of Fate
CHAPTER 352: CULT OF FATE
I let those words sink in, but it would appear that it didn’t have much effect on anyone except for the Emberin’s, Krytaraa and a couple of people down at the bottom of the room. Every one of which squinted their eyes at this.
*Cough*
Everyone turned to the person who suddenly coughed to see what was most likely one of the Nobles that Trayzara brought.
And with the attention now on them, she nervously spoke up.
"U-Uhm, no disrespect, but wh-what exactly is this cult. Also, who exactly are you?"
Krytaraa took a deep breath and got up from her seat and introduced me.
"This is Traytora Arizaraa, direct descendant of our Goddess. You would do well to not offend her." She warned with a slight viciousness in her tone, which was directed at everyone, not just the Noble that asked.
There was a slight murmur from those here, most not daring to believe it, with the rest either begrudgingly accepting it, or just accepting it as truth without resistance.
Either way, there was some discontent but nobody was brave enough to speak up against the Empyric Coil, so I simply answered the initial question.
"This Cult of Fate is the one behind the worlds unrest since eras ago."
"Hang on, you said eras? As in before the Lumerian or even the Virellian era?" Someone blurted out. And this woman, sorry I meant futa, seemed to be a member of the church.
"They’ve been plotting since before even the Faelorian era." I exclaimed, which caused many gasps of disbelief to sound out from nearly everyone in the room, including the two below me.
"They’ve been here for how long?" I heard the trembling in Trayzara’s voice, from the fear and the disbelief as well as possibly the sheer absurdity of it all.
The room suddenly erupted into a barrage of wild claims and accusations against what I said. Not directed at me personally, but they just seemed to refuse to accept what I said.
Which makes sense. After all, history tells us that before that ere, the races that inhabit the world didn’t exist before the Faelorian era. And even then, everyone was just wild beasts back then. Or so history tells us.
I personally know this to be a complete lie since the Illuminati has supposedly existed since before the creation of the world as we know it. But that’s all I know.
"SILENCE!" Krytaraa exploded suddenly in a furious manner. "If she says they’ve been here since before the Faelorian era, then they have! If you don’t believe her, then you don’t deserve to be here!"
’Wow... I mean, I appreciate her saying that, but I think that’s a bit much.’
Still, it got everyone to quiet down at least before she turned and bowed, telling me to continue.
"As for what exactly they’ve been plotting... It’s to overthrow the Gods and replace them, as well as change the way society works as a whole in their own image."
Another wave of accusations, this time at the sheer blasphemy and audacity that they had to dare and even conceive to plot this.
This time though, Krytaraa didn’t pipe up to shut them up and just let them blow their steam out. Which they soon did, toning their shouting down to the level of a civil argument.
One of the Sect members nearer the bottom then asked, "But how exactly and why did they do all this?"
Everyone then turned to me and I answered in a very serious and grim tone, the air in the room shifting to a darker hue, "By eliminating any and all traces of the Gods presence in the mortal plane and infiltration any and all organisations, changing things from within."
When I said that last thing, I looked towards the crowd of Nobles that Trayzara brought here. To which they all avoided my gaze and looked down with shameful expressions.
I then looked towards the lower ranked members of the Sect with even more scrutiny in my gaze, causing them to shiver and their bodies to tense up.
"As such, I will be making sure that each and every one of you is not secretly a member of this Cult. And before you ask how, this is how." I activated my [Divine Eyes] and [Divine Aura] at the same time, causing the room to take on a heavy golden glow to it. "You will not be able to lie in front of me."
The temperature dropped slightly as everyone shuddered at the terrifyingly cold Aura I released.
And to show that nobody could escape this, I started with the Futaris, demanding that she go to the centre of the room, showing that even she was not free from my commands.
"Are you a member of the Cult of Fate?"
"No, I am not."
I nodded and told her to return to her seat. Then, I did the same with the Empyric Coil. Then all five of the Emberin Ladies one at a time, slowly working my way down to the bottom of this stand for the Sect members.
So far, no one had lied, all denying that they were part of the Cult and telling the truth. But when I got the row at the very bottom, there was a woman dressed in pure white robes and a veil, who when I asked if they were a part of the Cult, they confidently said no.
And they were lying.
Immediately the Divine pressure in the room doubled as I stared intensely at this woman and declared, "You lie."
She trembled under the pressure and tried to deny it, "I-I am not, I assure you that I am being truthful! I’m not part of that heinous Cult!"
"LIES! You think you can lie in front of me? You think you can deceive me!?!" I yelled in immense rage as the power of my Aura slowly increased unconsciously. "TELL EVERYONE THE TRUTH!"
Also unconsciously, I was beginning to summon my [Soul Manifestation], which only added to the terror I was inflicting.
A seemingly infinitely coiling ancient serpent, easily thicker than my entire torso by at least two times, started to float from behind me, fangs bared and ready to pounce.
I stared down at this white clothed woman who looked up at me, body shaking, with trepidation in her eyes.
She stammered, her mouth agape and unable to comprehend what she was seeing, and in an attempt to try and get out of this, she suddenly flung her head into the ground, bashing her skull in and killing her instantly.
Unfortunately for her, that wasn’t going to let her escape through merely dying.
Before anyone could even blink, my [Soul Manifestation] shot forth and coiled up around the Naga’s soul, ensnaring it and keeping it trapped in place, unable to even move.
"AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!" The screams echoed from her soul, causing everyone in the room to flinch.
"You thought you could escape with death? You were wrong."
"Wh-What just... Huh?" One of the three Emberin’s that I had yet to interact with spoke up first.
"Isn’t it obvious?" A Noble woman sneered. "Clearly she was part of the cult, tried lying and killed herself in an attempt to escape, which obviously failed."
Huh, she’s pretty observant. She did get everything correct though.
"But how are we supposed to know if she’s telling the truth or not? We’re just supposed to take her word for it?" A different noble squawked with suspicion.
Which was a bad idea since the Sect members all then started to angrily rave about how it was heresy or some shit that they dared to question me.
I didn’t feel like I had any patience right now, too caught up and to be honest, a little obsessed with snuffing out this Cult.
It may not have been obvious, nor did I express it, but this Cult has always been there to ruin my life in some way shape or form. I don’t know how, but I can just feel with all my being, with all my power, that damn near everything bad that’s happened to me can be traced back to them.
And so, I shut them up, "QUIET!"
