CHAPTER 481: PLAGUE BRINGER

Due to the attack of the Black Locusts on the kingdom, Darcero Kingdom’s farms suffered devastating damage that would knock most farmers off their curb due to how the locusts ate everything that they had invested in. Almost 80 percent of the crops that are supposed to be harvested by the farmers have been lost due to the incident.

The only farms that managed to remain unharmed are those that are far from the incident and have been protected fast enough by the magicians. However, 80 percent is a massive loss, and many of the farmers will suffer a lot from that setback. Unlike Elaina, who can easily purchase seeds without using real money thanks to her daily Farm Points, that is generated by the almanac, the other farmers are not as fortunate as her and have used up their money to buy seedlings, seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides that would drive away the common pests of their crops. With the attack of those insects, that money is gone forever.

Even though Elaina doesn’t need to worry too much about losing profit since she didn’t use any in the first place, she still felt bad looking at the wasted crop field that got fully ravaged by the insects. The Greater Ogres and the Feys managed to harvest a few crops before they are also ravaged by the black locusts in the process but it was only a little bit and not so ideal to be sold as it is. As a result, Elaina decided to give the harvested crops to the Greater Ogres and the Feys as reward for saving those crops in the middle of the swarm. It is right for them to at least get rewarded under those times.

Thankfully, the swarm didn’t attack the trees on the farm. The Apple tree remained unharmed at the very least. The tree that the bees are staying are also unharmed, perhaps since the bees would defend their home, the swarm deliberately ignored it.

Yona is currently leading her slimes around the farm to clean up all of the dead insects that was killed earlier. Since the insecticide does not work to the slimes, they are free to devour those stacks of insect piles without problem. Yona’s efforts to continue working with the slimes seems to be doing well. Sooner or later, they will produce slime products that can be sold in the future. Of course, that will be on hold for now until then.

"[Looks like the farm’s vegetables are ruined now, Elaina. What about the medicinal herbs?]" the Goddess of Medicine asked.

"Thankfully, those insects ignored the medicinal herbs I planted. If they have also decided to ravage through these herbs, I would definitely annihilate them twice. It seems they don’t have any interests to these kind of grass compared to crops."

"[Which is a good thing. I overheard what you and the other two have talked earlier and just by hearing that, I think there is a chance a plague lord has appeared on Darcero Kingdom]"

"Plague bringer?" Elaina frowned. This is the first time she have heard of that term before.

"[Never heard of that term before? Pretty understandable. They are a rare kind of monster that spaws all of a sudden. It was rampant back in time when the Gods were still walking with the humans in the past.]"

"Does a monster like that really appear in the past? How come I am only just hearing it right now?" Elaina tried to rack her head to try and recall whether she have heard of the name or even met a monster like that before but it seems that her mind does not register a plague bringer at all.

"[They are pretty common back then but I heard they are pretty much uncommon now. They appear from time to time but they are not fully known as Plague Bringer. Perhaps they are more commonly known by everyone as Calamity Summoner.]"

Upon hearing the word, Elaina soon understood why she didn’t hear that term at all. It was because they are coined differently by the people as Calamity Summoner. A unique monster akin to a natural disaster due to how they cause disasters that would destroy an area as a result of them summoning varioud unforunate events that would sometimes be disasters and stuff with the most common thing they summon is plagues. Now Elaina has an idea why it was called Plague Bringer.

"[Although Calamity Summoners summon various calamities, they start out small before becoming strong and that is the form that they take in as. A Plague Bringer, a young Calamity Summoner, trying out its power for the first time. You can say it was a newborn. Once it practically mastered its power, it will slowly transform into the Calamity Summoner everyone in your world knows ans you know they are bad news if it happens.]"

"True. Calamity Summoners are said to devastate a kingdom to ruin due to disasters and plagues it brings that before the people can recover, they will experience a new type of plague or disaster that will further devastate their situation which will lead to deaths."

"[Exactly. And that is why I think the one that brought out the Black Locust plague to attack the place is summoned by the Plague Bringer that just started out. They tend to start using plagues that are devastating yet not too hard to deal with to master their grasp of their abilities. Considering that they managed to bring out an extinct insect back from existence by summoning it as a plague, I bet it will start using another plague soon which is much more dangerous than the plague you experienced. Something like an epidemic of rats or the widespread of a deadly disease being spread by mosquitoes. Anyways, just be careful. The next few weeks will be safe for now but if the Plague Bringer is not found, they will not stop with this one and will start to summon another plague soon once the people begins to recover from the losses.]" The Goddess of Medicine warned.

"Thanks for the warning me. If what you said is true, I think I needed to relay this matter to Grandma and Grandpa. If it is them, perhaps they had an idea where they can find one and deal with it before it gets seriously dangerous."

Now that Elaina knows what a Plague Bringer is, the only people who she can tell who can find and exterminate it is none other than the two former heroes and her grandparents who happened to have slayed a Calamity Summoner back in their heyday. If its them, they will surely find the enemy before it is too late.
