A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 483: Trap Seeds and Companion Seeds
CHAPTER 483: TRAP SEEDS AND COMPANION SEEDS
Now that Elaina is going to be searching for the Plague Bringer with her ex-husband, she has decided to return home to prepare. Alfred said that he has a bit of an idea of where a Calamity Summoner might be hiding if it were in its infancy. And since it won’t become a Calamity Summoner just yet until it unleashes a few plagues on its own before getting accustomed to its power, the Plague Bringer will become docile for a while until the next cast of new plagues, which may become a lethal plague. Of course, Elaina prays that doesn’t happen, or if the Plague Bringer does cast the next plague, it won’t be a dangerous one, and they can still buy enough time to find it before it unleashes another one.
Upon arriving at the farm, before Elaina could even begin her preparations, the God of Farming talked to her.
"[Ah, good timing, you have yet to go to deal with the Plague Bringer or whatever monster that was just yet.]" The God of Farming seems to be relieved after seeing Elaina still starting her prep.
"Something wrong?" Elaina asked.
"[No, in fact, there is something I have to tell you. After the last discussion, I decided that it is time for me to take advantage of my abilities as the God of Farming to compile something that can be useful.]"
"You made something? Is it another crop that I need to plant? Or a fruit tree?"
"[Neither. These things are more like utility items I have added to the Catalogue and are ready to purchase. They are also one-time use only, so if you want to use them again, you will need another one. Go check it out if you want to understand what I meant.]"
Elaina nodded and headed to the Catalogue. When she opened the book, a new section appeared labeled with "Utility". Opening that page where the utility section is, the new items added by the God of Farming are present on the pages of the book, ready to select and purchase.
There, two categories present: Trap Seeds and Companion Seeds.
"Trap and Companion seeds?
"[Trap Seeds are already self-explanatory by themselves. It is a seed that is used by throwing, which triggers the trap inside the seed. It varies from seed to seed, and she is seeing lots of varieties there. They cost 1000 FP per seed, and although a bit tad expensive, you can’t deny that these seeds are good items that can be substituted for an actual trap itself that one should manually set up. What’s neat about them is that the moment you throw and deploy them, they will automatically be deployed, so if you throw a trap at an enemy moving, the seed will stick and deploy the trap with the person or target that has the seed clinging to. Be careful, they won’t be used on innocent individuals. Buying a few wouldn’t hurt your FP wallet, yes?]"
"You are really trying to make a profit, huh?" Elaina chuckled.
"[I need some compensation for my hard work as well. The FP is as good as the regular prayers I received from believers. And considering you are the only one who uses FP from all of my believers, I doubt I will receive FP from others. Besides, you are also getting benefits from using that FP. It’s better to spend that FP instead of letting it rot in your wallet, yes?]"
Elaina can only smile while shaking her head. For some reason, Elaina can see the Harvest Goddess in him. Like Master, like Disciple.
"Alright then, but what about these companion seeds?"
"[As for the Companion Seeds, they are deployable mini pets that expire in a certain duration. They are mini soldiers that follow your orders based on their abilities. For example, if you use the Sword Seed, upon deployment, a plant that has a metal fruit shaped like a sword appears and will fight enemies that you command to attack. Despite being plants, they are lethal things that will definitely become dangerous if multiple of them are deployed at once.]"
"But the prices...they are much expensive than the Trap Seed! This is basically a rip-off!" Elaina quickly protested, seeing the prices of each seed as 10,000 FP per seed.
"[Hey, I made sure the prices are fair and not a rip-off! And besides, even though they are temporary, they are very good plant companions that will protect you if needed. Multiple of them, and you can defeat any enemies that will try to swarm you in hordes. If you needed healing? You can just deploy the Healing Pod Seed. If you are under attack by an unknown assailant, then deploy the Shield Seed. They are all legit, Elaina.]" the God of Farming tried to convince Elaina.
"Can I at least haggle on the prices? Say, around 7,000 FP?"
"[10,000 FP. No more, no less. No haggle. It’s your choice to buy it anyway. You won’t buy it? Doesn’t matter to me; it’s your loss.]"
Elaina decided to give up haggling. Like what the God of Farming said, he won’t be losing anything if she didn’t buy it, but for her, if what the God of Farming stated is how it actually works, then the seeds themselves are a really good emergency or even regular follower to use.
"Do these things die? How long are their durations?" Elaina asked seriously this time. Despite the expensive price, she does have the FP to spend, and she can use more items to use in this task she is about to face.
"[They do die if they suffer lethal attacks like regular beings. The only thing is that they won’t just tank any attack damage except for the Shield Seed, which has a purpose to tank an attack. They will also remain functional for at least 30 minutes. Plenty of time if you ask me.]"
30 minutes is plenty of time, and Elaina knows it. Although she is skeptical, there is a chance that this is something she might need. It won’t hurt to have a few.
Like usual, the packages are left behind on the front door. Elaina always tries to catch who drops the packages, but she can’t since the one delivering the packages is so fast for some unknown reason.
Opening each package, the small boxes contain each seed. Their packaging is simple and they are labeled with what kind of seed they are.
"I just needed to throw them to the ground if I needed to use them, right?" Elaina asked again.
"[Yes. Even if you throw it on a floor, wooden floor, mud, or any solid area, as long as they are being stepped on, it will activate. They won’t work if it is a table or something. Make sure to remember that!]"
With these seeds, Elaina is going to hunt the Plague Bringer soon. And perhaps these seeds will be necessary to deal with it before it becomes the Calamity Summoner.
