A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 494: The New Hire
CHAPTER 494: THE NEW HIRE
Upon returning home, Elaina began her tireless work of converting the produce she got into seeds. Of course, she didn’t turn everything into seeds and left a bit of the produce for selling, as it is impractical to convert everything and leave nothing for shipment.
With only a few farms capable of shipping anything related to crops, it is also her duty to keep the market stable while the others continue to recover their finances. She did suffer some damage, but considering that she has some harvests from the Dungeon Farm, it isn’t much of a problem for her, and she has already collected the regular income of a regular harvest not too long ago since all of the plants she grows on the field matures and grows faster than the ordinary ones, hence, she managed to harvest the old ones and sell them before planting new ones.
While she is busy, her children have just returned from the mines and are carrying a sack of loot they got from killing monsters. This time, they bring along Layla with them, and it seems she, too, wants to get stronger. Elaina is not against that, but she wanted them to take it safe and make sure that nothing happens to any of them, especially for Layla, who is not well-suited for combat at all.
"We are back. Eh? Mom, what are you doing, and what’s with the crates of vegetables here?" Adelaide asked as everyone spotted Elaina in the middle of converting the vegetables into packets of seeds.
"Turning them into seeds. We will be having a new venture of business of selling seeds by converting regular produce into seeds. With most farmers having little to no capital for buying seeds, I am planning to launch a plan to ensure that our kingdom does not suffer from produce drought due to those effecte left behind by the Calamity Summoner."
"Then, can we help? This does look like it will take some time if you do it all alone. The packets of seeds here are all over the place," Layla offered.
"I appreciate the offer, Layla. But aren’t you guys tired? You lot just came back from the mines. I doubt you lot are not doing much."
"Nah, we backliners are not tired. It seems the two boys wanted to become stronger that they did most of the work and left us with little to no work. I do want to have at least something to do there but with the boys just hugging everything, then what can we even do?" Adelaide sighed.
Elaina made a light glance at the two boys and surely enough, compared to the two energetic girls, the boys were just tired to the point that they look like they are about to collapse anytime from where they are standing.
"I know I told you boys you can go wild in the mines and fight all you want, but I never said you two can go all out then come back dead tired to the point of exhaustion and collapse. Go wild, but with moderation. If you guys think it is time to stop, stop and return. Go you two to your rooms and rest."
The two nodded silently, too exhausted to even say anything at that point.
"I will also call Mier for help, Mom. Considering that she can’t even come with us in the mines since her Mother is not even allowing her to join in a dangerous expedition, it’s kind of sad to just leave out Mier," Layla suggested.
"True. She is rarely hanging out with everyone now that even Layla is joining the mining expedition. Perhaps I can ask her Mom to allow her daughter to join once in a while."
And so, with three new additional helpers, Elaina easily converted each produce into seeds, getting enough crates worth of seeds. She isn’t worried they won’t sell as she is confident about it. And even if it won’t sell, that only means more seeds for her to use and plant for her farm. Not a bad deal to be honest.

The next day, Elaina returned to the office and waited for the new hire that Rakkunzansa is currently saying he recruited. Since he works early, he said the new recruit would come around noon.
Since Elaina is not busy at that time, she decided to work around the business and help out her employees and get their job easier to do for the day while waiting for the new recruit to come.
However, 2 hours have passed and someone entered the lobby and Rakkunzansa quickly rushed to Elaina.
"Boss, it seems the one I scouted decided to come early instead of waiting till noon. I sent her to your office and should be waiting for you."
Elaina was not surprised by the early arrival of the new recruit. She is rather pleased that she came much earlier than expected means she is also interested in the job that she was offered with.
Leaving all the remaining work to Mei who she was currently helping with, Elaina proceeded to her office where she smelled a sweet scent of flowers on the way. It is quite fragrant that she almost thought it was perfume. However, unlike the sometimes musky scent of perfumes, the one she is smelling is natural and quite different in the nose.
But is there another race that is capable or giving this flower fragrance naturally?
Opening the door to her office, Elaina saw a woman with green hair sitting on the chair, facing her table which means Elaina can only see the back of her head. However, aside from her green hair, she is also seeing leaves and flowers on her hair, not as accessories, but things that are growing in her hair.
Upon hearing the door open, the person sitting on the chair faced on Elaina who just entered the room. Upon seeing the face of the new recruit, now Elaina has an idea on how this person is quite capable and knowledgeable regarding plant biology and anything related to agricultural process. Perhaps, this person is also considered the magical version of botanists.
"I wasn’t expecting the new recruit was a dryad," Elaina said as she approaches her table a
"Are you disappointed at my race?" the woman asked. The flowers on her head seems to wilt with her question.
"Not at all. Just surprised that’s all. I thought that Rakkunzansa would bring a different Civilized Monster but instead, it was a dryad. I didn’t expect a dryad would be present here in the kingdom."
"Dryads are not that many and our numbers are considered to be really low compared to other races, making us to be a rare race. But since we are not going to be talking with things related to our race right now, does that mean we are going to begin the interview?" The dryad asked.
"Indeed, but first, what should I call you? You are Miss..."
"Octavia. It was the name bestowed upon me."
"I see. Miss Octavia, let me get straight to the point, are you a hardworker?"
"Not really a hardworker to the point that it would lead me to my exhaustion, but I do get pretty passionste if it comes to my hobbies."
"Hobbies?" Elaina tilted her head.
"Yes. Namely, agricultute, plant breeding snd other things related to plants. If you have a question regarding that topic, I can guarantee you that my expertise is not just impeccable, but I am also good to the works involving."
Elaina have read about dryads before and seeing one before her, it seems that Rakkunzansa’s new recruit is a good pick.
