CHAPTER 531: SLIME EGGS

"[So even the slime eggs are used like that. I am impressed by how one can just use some things like that and change it to something new. I only know that those slime eggs are used for certain foods eaten by humans, but I didn’t know it could be an effective ingredient for melting mythril!]" the Goddess of Taming exclaimed with amazement after learning the new knowledge related to the Slime Eggs.

"[Of course, you wouldn’t. This should be part of the specialty of the [God of Inventions] since anything under our management, he always has something to use for and turn them into something that would become part of the world’s human inventions. You only manage the taming process and the other stuff related to taming, animals, and monster ranching so how could you know the expansive use of Slime Eggs?]" The God of Farming clearly seems smirking behind those words. Of course, Elaina can’t see that since she is only seeing it on a floating window dialogue box.

"[Ugh, sometimes, you can be a jerk, you know that? But I won’t deny that. His work is truly marvelous indeed. Now the slimes are not just there to produce slime eggs for consumption. There is more to it than that.]"

The gods continue to discuss the matter while Elaina is only reading their banter while riding the elevator. Now that the slime eggs are needed, Elaina is returning to the farm and asks Yona about the slime eggs and if she still has a lot of them. She does not need all of it, but she needed a lot of it, so having more is better and considering that the threat of the Maw of Stones is still lingering and potentially destructive, Elaina wanted to end this problem as soon as possible. If only the monster hadn’t eaten Mythril, then perhaps dealing with it with her sword would still be possible, but now? Out of the question. Her sword would break first before she could even deal a scratch against it.

DING!

Once the elevator doors opened, Elaina felt a small shake underground. According to the miners in the past, it is a sign that the Maw of Stones has started moving again. It is a worrying sign since that would also mean it is also starting its feeding frenzy once more.

"Time to get this matter handled as soon as possible."

She quickly left the mines. She will have to destroy that monster once and for all, before it can cause bigger damage than it should have.

Upon Elaina’s arrival, she was welcomed by Yona, struggling to catch a few slimes jumping around the farm. She even saw the children, including the Fey siblings, helping catch the runaway slimes as well.

"Why not use magic, Yona? It seems you have trouble handling the slimes," Elaina suggested as she caught one slime that leaped directly into her arms.

Yona smiled as she received the slime Elaina caught. "I can’t do that. Considering that slimes are very vulnerable to magic, one wrong move with magic spells could potentially kill them in the process. I don’t want to kill them accidentally, considering they are not hostile slimes in the first place. I do appreciate the suggestion, though."

"Is that why they are highly resistant to physical attacks and can only be killed if their core is destroyed using swords and weapons?" Elaina asked, curious, considering she can also easily deal with slimes using her sword just fine.

"They are indeed highly resistant to physical attacks, but that doesn’t mean they are immune to them. Still, thanks to that resistance they have to physical attacks, it seems that they traded their resistance to it, which leaves them so vulnerable to magic spells that one single touch of a magic spell can potentially burst the slime’s core without problems."

Elaina glance around. She have seen the pets of Yona before, and they were indeed numerous...but not THAT

numerous compared to what she was seeing now.

"Did the slimes increase in numbers?" Elaina asked, a bit worried.

"Yes and unfortunately, it is my fault. I have been so focused on my research on the bees and their honey that I completely forgot the slime hutch and did not visit it for a few days. Since slimes quickly reproduce, it is only a matter of time before the slimes increase in number. I neglected it a bit after I told you that they produced more slime eggs than I can handle, and here I am, handling the aftermath. If not for the kids helping out, I would still be chasing with them all until now."

"Say, Yona. Are there still lots of slime eggs you currently have available at the moment?" Elaina inquired.

"Ah, thanks for asking. I do have them. In fact, A LOT of them."

She opens the slime hutch door, and Elaina’s eyes go wide as she sees the overflowing slime hutch with slime eggs. It was so full that the majority of the eggs seemed to have reached the slime hutch ceiling despite the size of the slime hutch.

"Is this the reason why the slimes have been jumping around the farm just now? Because most of them are pushed out by the slime eggs?"

"Yeah. In just a few days of neglect, this was what happened when I turned my eyes away. I am entirely to blame here on this problem," Yona is remorseful about the situation.

However, Elaina smiled, seeing the number of slime eggs ready for disposal. She was expecting only a dozen or so at first, but seeing the numbers, there is no need for Elaina to hold back on it. The slime eggs might be a lot, but that is exactly what is Elaina currently wants to get.

"Yona, if you have no use of these slime eggs, would you allow me to do the honors of dispatching them and using them for my own?"

Yona’s face lit up when she heard that. "A-are you sure? This is a lot of slime eggs, you know?"

"As a matter of fact, I do need a lot of them, Miss Yona. So, yes, I will need a lot of them for my own use. Do you mind if I get to have them?"

"Oh yes. You can have them. In fact, take them all. I don’t mind what you will use them for, as long as this clutter is removed."

Elaina sighed in relief. Now, the slime eggs are secured. That also means it is time to move to the next part of the plan for the removal of the Maw of Stones.
