CHAPTER 532: CREATING ACID

Elaina personally hauled the slime eggs to the dimensional storage bag. Despite looking slimy and sticky, they are honestly more solid than she thought. They are also not wet, which is a wonder considering they do look like they are made of water and seem to be ready to stick to the clothes. The slime residue is oddly missing despite coming from the slime. And despite being called an egg, it lacks the hard shell most eggs have. It is like the eggs of a frog, minus the slimy part.

Strangely enough, despite being big in size, they are not heavy and more like they are filled with air. They are so light that one can carry multiple of them in one go and still not feel any encumbrance or any additional weight. Elaina even thought it was a bit abnormal at first but Yona assures her that it is normal.

After hauling every single slime eggs inside the Slime Hutch, the place returned to its spacious state once more. The slimes happily started to move around the slime hutch again as Yona fills the water basin inside with water that came from her magic spells.

"Thanks for taking care of the eggs, Miss Elaina. Don’t worry about them hatching. Once they are held and moved around, they would stop hatching in the process. It is a brittle part of their reproduction but considering that they reproduce fast, it is probably designed like that so that they can still be controlled and be easily dealt with if they started getting too much."

"That’s good to know. Still, I think you shouldn’t forget about the slimes in the slime hutch to avoid the problems that occurred today. Even a visit once a day, no matter what time, checking up on their situation might be a good prompt to control their birth."

"Yeah, that would be far the best. And if you plan to get more slime eggs, Miss Elaina, feel free to gather them on your own and do something about it. At the moment, I don’t think I have much use for them and since I don’t want them to get clogged up on my house without any chances of being used, its best you use it yourself, ship it, cook it, whatever you do about it."

Elaina smiled. "Thanks. If that is the case, if you can’t visit the slime hutch, I will be helping out on them and monitor the slime eggs. We can then control the additional slimes in the process like that."

With the slime eggs at hand, Elaina ventures out to the mines once more, rushing to reach the mines and carry the slime eggs so that they can begin the operation as soon as possible. After all, time does not flow properly on the mines which also means, the longer time she spends in the surface, the more time the Maw of Stones will get in the process and becomes a dangerous variable that might end up becoming out of their control.

...

...

...

The moment she arrived at the mines, the dwarves are already working on the acid. They did have their own supply of slime eggs but considering that they only use it for their own mythril forging stuff, it’s not a lot of acid in the end and it would be a bit lacking for everyone in the process.

The Village Chief saw Elaina is approaching and quickly approach her with expectation in his eyes.

"Have you brought your share?" he asked, waiting for the new surge of items they will need.

"Yes. I hope this is enough. If it isn’t enough, I might need tomorrow or a few more days to fetch more slime eggs."

Elaina then starts to take the slime eggs out of the bag one by one. The dwarves started to haul and helped out on the processing of the slime eggs as the village chief accepts each eggs one by one and inspecting them.

And as they continue to put the slime eggs processed, the acid that was converted from the slime eggs starts to increase inside the container, and yet Elaina continues to provide the dwarves with more slime eggs. Of course, the dwarves did not complain and continue to receive the slime eggs which are then processed further by the other dwarves.

Of course, it soon reached to the point that Elaina has finally run out of the slime eggs she brought with her.

"Looks like that was everything," Elaina said after delivering the final slime egg.

"Hmmm..." the Village Chief glanced at the big cauldron containing the acid and asked the person assigned to stir it. "How’s the amount inside the cauldron?"

"Elder, the acid is close to overflowing already. I think we have plenty enough to say the least to use against the Maw of Stones soon enough."

Not convinced, he climbed over the ladder of the platform they used to stand while stirring the solution and looked over at the grey bubbling liquid, boiling on the cauldron. One wrong move and anyone who falls into the cauldron would melt alive. Just seeing it is enough for the village chief to grin.

"Mobilize all able-bodied dwarves and get their gear going. All of the specialized equipment we made to use the acid we made is going to be used as soon as possible!"

The dwarves started moving around as fast as they could, rushing over to obey the order. Elaina was amazed to see how the dwarves seemed to be so united in their preparation and acted like a military force, ready to assault the enemy any time.

The Village Chief stands next to Elaina with a nod of satisfaction as he looks at everyone rushing all over to finish their job.

"Thanks to you, our plan is underway now. Once the dwarves are ready, we can begin the deployment and deal with the Maw of Stones as soon as possible."

"What can I contribute?" Elaina asked. She is getting itchy to fight, too.

"Nope. You can just sit back and relax for now. You shall act as a backup to the plan in case the plan doesn’t work as expected. Treat yourself as a safety net for dealing with a problem that would be hard enough to deal with."

Although Elaina felt a bit disappointed, Elaina did not make a big deal over it and nodded as the dwarves were getting ready for the battle against the ravenous monster. She might not be able to participate in battle, but her contribution alone is something that should not be underestimated. After all, the slime eggs she brought with her are the ones that managed to almost fill the cauldron to the fullest. Without her contribution, the plan will never come to fruition.
