By then, most of the people around the Second Elder had fallen, and Fo Lanying said to him, “Grandpa, the situation is against us now; we should retreat.”

The Second Elder’s face darkened, “What use were you to go to the Enlightenment Tablet if you can’t do this? Hurry up and capture Bai Ruozhu!”

Fo Lanying’s expression changed suddenly, and she raised her dagger, but unexpectedly the dagger in her hand changed direction, stabbing fiercely toward the Second Elder’s chest.

“You’re crazy!” The Second Elder grabbed his chest and caught Fo Lanying’s hand. The dagger hadn’t gone in too deep and missed his heart.

Glaring angrily at Fo Lanying, he said, “I raised you, and this is how you repay me, you ungrateful wretch!”

Fo Lanying burst into maniacal laughter, withdrew the dagger, and stepped back two strides, “This strike is to repay you for my mother. If it weren’t for you, how would she have been pushed into a corner?”

She laughed even more miserably, “And for all these years, you tricked me into the Enlightenment Tablet, continuously goading me, brainwashing me. I’ve been lucky to make it out, but look what I’ve become? Your evil techniques only gave me temporary glory, allowing you to show off and deceive those who wish to enter the Enlightenment Tablet but don’t meet the requirements. But don’t you know that after using your evil techniques, I can only live for another ten years at most?”

Fo Lanying laughed again, tears streaming from her eyes, “Ten years from now, I won’t even be thirty, and my life will be over, all to fulfill your ambitions and plans. Who is truly ruthless here?”

Everyone stopped, looking at Fo Lanying’s distorted expression, unable to describe their feelings.

His expression suddenly turned strange, and then both of his hands sent out a massive inner strength toward the crowd. Jianqi flew in to shield Bai Ruozhu and spat out blood afterward.

Bai Ruozhu quickly fed Jianqi a pill for his internal injuries and then focused intensely on the Second Elder, a sense of dread rising within her as if something ominous was about to happen.

“You shall all die!” the Second Elder shouted with manic laughter, suddenly releasing two streams of black fog from his palms. Everyone’s eyes widened because they were all too familiar with this black fog, having witnessed clan members dying in it just days ago, barely escaping themselves. How could they forget?

The Tenth Elder angrily said, “No wonder you have so many evil techniques; you’ve become a monster’s slave!”

“Enough talk. If you obey me, you’ll prosper. Oppose me, and perish. Today, you’ll all die here!” the Second Elder declared.

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly rushed forward, raising her hand to block the black fog emitted by the Second Elder. The Second Elder laughed more crazily, “Bai Ruozhu, you’re doomed!”

Fortunately, everyone had seen Bai Ruozhu’s ability to block the black fog before, so there was no panic. Bai Ruozhu reached out to transfer the black fog into the Curse Tree in her Space, although she had no idea how much more black fog the Curse Tree could absorb.
