CHAPTER 437: CHAPTER 246: NOT SO WONDERFUL VACATION
As soon as Qin Luo got home, she switched on her eating mode.
Considering that Qin Luo had already eaten two plane meals, which counted as a proper meal, Qin Huai thought it was fine for his sister to have some snacks and tidbits, so he didn’t cook instant noodles for her.
As for why there were instant noodles at Qin Huai’s house...
They were bought by Ouyang before, featuring all flavors like Pickled Cabbage, Braised Beef, Tomato Egg, Pepper Beef, Tonkotsu Ramen, Chicken Broth, Sour Soup Beef, Shin Ramyun, Spicy Chicken Noodles, and many more, with brands and types more complete than those sold at many neighborhood convenience stores.
Ouyang loves eating instant noodles while playing on his phone late at night.
Qin Huai went to the kitchen to cook glutinous rice balls for Qin Luo.
The glutinous rice balls were given to Qin Huai by Zheng Da and Zheng Siyuan, with mixed fruit fillings of peanuts, melon seeds, almonds, and walnuts.
Initially, when Zheng Siyuan was packing glutinous rice balls for Gong Baozhu, he packed an extra bag for Qin Huai, asking him to cook them for Qin Luo. Seeing this, Zheng Da thought peanuts and melon seeds shouldn’t lose either, so he immediately packed a bag for Qin Huai, clearing out the fridge in the process.
Qin Huai accepted them without thinking, and on the way home, he realized that the father and son duo probably did it on purpose, simply wanting to clear out the fridge.
Zheng Da really didn’t have that many eager and loyal customers willing to come over and taste his glutinous rice balls every day. He and Zheng Siyuan practiced making them at home, which had to be consumed internally, to the extent that both Zheng Siqin and Zheng Siyuan’s mom had developed a sort of glutinous rice ball PTSD.
Now that there was finally someone willing to come over and consume the glutinous rice balls, this father and son duo didn’t hold back, clearing all their stock.
Gong Baozhu was quite happy, thinking Zheng Siyuan and Zheng Da were really nice. She mentioned liking glutinous rice balls, so they packed two big bags for her, the kind that are super large.
The pot was cooking glutinous rice balls, and the oven was heating up fresh meat mooncakes. Qin Huai kept an eye on the fire control for the glutinous rice balls while poking his head out from the kitchen to remind Qin Luo not to overindulge.
Even if Qin Luo had a cast iron stomach, overeating could still lead to acute gastroenteritis, and it wasn’t like such incidents hadn’t happened before.
Qin Luo was already happily watching TV on the sofa.
On the coffee table were a plate of flaky pastries, a fruit platter, a plate of spicy snacks, an opened bag of cheese sticks, three packs of chips in different flavors, a bag of onion rings, a bag of rice cakes, a bag of butter popcorn, two chocolate bars, a pack of beef jerky, a pack of dried pork, and a pile of various small biscuits.
Qin Luo was enjoying the spicy snacks equally. Left hand spicy snack, right hand flaky pastry. An orange from the fruit platter had been peeled, not with a knife but by her teeth, showcasing Qin Luo’s prowess.
Half a bag of cheese sticks was already gone, the packs of chips and onion rings were all open, one chocolate bar was whole, and only half of the other one remained.
To those who knew, they’d say Qin Luo had eaten two meals on the airplane. To those who didn’t, they’d think she hadn’t eaten in two days.
Qin Luo happily opened a bottle of sugar-free Coke.
"It’s so late, eat less snacks. Don’t open the rest. Use clips to seal the puffed foods for later, there’re glutinous rice balls and fresh meat mooncakes to eat too." Qin Huai shouted.
Qin Luo didn’t know what glutinous rice balls were and jumped up from the sofa, running to the kitchen door asking, "Brother, what are glutinous rice balls? Are they tasty? Sweet or savory? Do they have meat?"
"The plus version of tangyuan." Qin Huai replied concisely, "I boiled two for you, mixed fruit filling, sweet."
"No meat, huh." Qin Luo was a bit disappointed.
"I’ll make you meat-filled ones tomorrow. Go check how much longer the oven will take, I only heated one fresh meat mooncake for you."
Qin Luo happily went to check the oven.
Two minutes later, Qin Huai brought glutinous rice balls to Qin Luo, who was sitting at the dining table biting into a fresh meat mooncake.
Looking at the size, the glutinous rice balls were definitely the plus version of tangyuan, which piqued Qin Luo’s curiosity. She put down the half-eaten fresh meat mooncake and took a spoon to scoop a bite.
Qin Huai didn’t cool this batch of glutinous rice balls according to the 3-minute-and-50-seconds rule, only leaving it for over a minute. Clearly, the 3:50 rule didn’t apply to Qin Luo, who happily chew, chew, chewed instead of doing a tap-dance jump.
Qin Luo really loved glutinous rice products; she always said they have a peculiar aroma.
Even though Qin Huai just mentioned the glutinous rice balls were mixed fruit filling, Qin Luo believed that since her brother made two, they must be different flavors.
The first one Qin Luo bit into was peanut and melon seed, and as she took a bite, she placed it back in the bowl, allowing the filling to ooze out and turn the soup into a fruit medley soup, then took up a second ball for a bite.
Chomp chomp chomp.
"Brother, this is delicious!" Qin Luo exclaimed in surprise, "This is especially delicious, it’s almond!"
"Can I eat this in the morning? I want to eat six, no, eight balls in the morning!"
For a moment, Qin Huai was somewhat relieved that Qin Luo wasn’t saying this sitting outside of Huang’s Kitchen.
If Zheng Siyuan heard that, he’d probably crown Qin Luo as the person who appreciates mixed fruit fillings the most in the world, supplying her with unlimited flaky pastries and fresh meat mooncakes.
Qin Huai watched Qin Luo finish the glutinous rice balls and flaky pastries, seeing her store away the snacks, reminding her to sleep early, and warning her not to play around with the smart home devices, especially not to fiddle with the lights, or else she might end up stumbling around in the middle of the night and eventually head back to her room to sleep.
Seeing Qin Huai enter the room, the little person in Qin Luo’s heart cheered: This is great, parents aren’t home, brother is going to bed early too, so no one is here to monitor how late I play on my phone tonight!
Then Qin Luo took her unfinished Coke into her room to play on her phone.
At one thirty in the morning, Ouyang sent Qin Luo a message.
