Abyss Sequence

CHAPTER 346: CHAPTER 3: IMPORTANT NEWS
"Ahem! We no longer have the concept of tribes now."
Sasa explained to Julia, "In the thousands of years since we severed our ties with the Abyss, humanity has experienced many things, and societal systems have changed several times. In this era, humans have completely abandoned the concept of tribes, replacing it with ’domains’ and ’cities.’
Julia looked a bit confused, "Is there any difference?"
Sasa was just about to explain to Julia but suddenly hesitated.
Indeed, there doesn’t seem to be much difference.
Though we no longer use ’tribe’ as a term, essentially, there’s no real difference.
The so-called ’domains’ and ’cities’ are merely larger tribes in essence.
After a moment of silence, Sasa continued, "Let’s not talk about tribes. We no longer have the concept of ’concubines,’ so you can’t become Yan Luo’s concubine."
As she said this, Sasa felt somewhat guilty herself.
She was Yan Luo’s lover, bearing some resemblance to a concubine conceptually.
But Yan Luo isn’t someone who would easily sleep with others; there needs to be a foundation of feelings at least before he would.
Upon hearing this, Julia became exceedingly disappointed, her ears drooping as she softly murmured, "Then, what should I do..."
She genuinely wanted to obtain the Saint’s blood. To that end, she even mustered the courage to speak of becoming Yan Luo’s concubine, only to find out there was no longer any ’concubine’ concept among humans due to their significant changes.
If it were for humans, obtaining the Saint’s blood wouldn’t be difficult: first, be a Hunter and actively participate in abyssal hunts, then one could obtain Yan Luo’s blood.
But Julia was an Elf, and Sasa wasn’t sure if Yan Luo would hold any prejudice against Julia.
After thinking for a bit, Sasa asked Julia, "Why do you want to get the Saint’s blood?"
Julia bit her lip and softly said, "Because... I want to become stronger and explore other worlds!"
Julia then raised her head, gesturing with her hands in the air, "Alfheim is vast, accommodating billions of Elves, but beyond this world lies another, just like Midgard. Yet, we remain trapped in this one world, living the same life day after day, year after year. I don’t expect other Elves to think like me; many prefer our current lives. I only wish we had more choices.
"However, doing so requires strength, and an Elf’s strength grows with much time. Fifty years, a hundred years... One might stick to their ideas initially, but the longer it takes, the more I’m afraid I’d become like today’s Saints, entirely losing my drive to progress."
This is the greatest flaw of Elves.
They are born favored by Magic Power, with innate Casting Ability and longevity, but young Elves full of curiosity and ambition cannot attain great power. As they live longer, they become more accustomed to the repetitive life.
What Elves were like over eight thousand years ago is what they remain today. Their past changes originated from otherworldly influences; without them, Elves might not change in any substantial way for eons.
There are many young Elves like Julia, but none have acquired significant strength while young, and so, they are worn down by time.
No Elf can consistently maintain ambition because their lifespans are just too long—inevitably, time’s slow flow erodes all desire for the unknown and curiosity.
Elves are a race destined not to step out of their crib independently, living in such a dispiriting, yet constantly self-soothing environment, no wonder young Elves would gradually lose all ambition.
Sasa couldn’t help but sigh, feeling a lot of sympathy for Julia regarding this.
However, Julia is an Elf, and Yan Luo is human.
To Yan Luo, Julia leaving Gass City would be of no use, but staying there, Julia couldn’t obtain the Saint’s blood either.
This is a deadlock!
Sasa could see that Julia harbored feelings for Gass City and the Elf Race, making her betray her kind and becoming a hidden asset in Alfheim for humans seem impossible; thus, Sasa had no idea how Julia could obtain the Saint’s blood.
"How did the Elves who received the Saint’s blood manage it back then?" Sasa asked Julia.
Julia frowned in frustration, sighing, "Humans desired Elven bloodline; children born of humans and Elves have innate Casting Ability and grow with human bloodline speed. They often become the backbone of a tribe as they mature. Elves who got the Saint’s blood either became a Saint’s concubine or were followers or relatives of one."
However, now humans no longer have a ’concubine’ concept; do they still desire Elven bloodlines?
So children born of humans and Elves actually possess advantages from both races?
—No, is there really no reproductive barrier between humans and Elves?!
This was what most shocked Sasa.
Clearly, humans and Elves live in two different worlds, yet there’s no reproductive barrier between them, and their children can inherit both advantages.
"Then... what about the children of Elves and Saints?" Sasa inadvertently asked.
Julia looked at Sasa with a strange expression, saying, "They become a ’Samurai’ with Casting Ability and, like Saints, can strengthen themselves by absorbing Magic Power, but they can’t conduct blood-gifting, so they’re a weaker version of Saints."
So a Saint’s child is essentially a weakened version, a Saint incapable of blood-gifting?
Sasa was stunned, quickly realizing this might be the capability of ’Saint’s Marrow.’
Absorbing Saint’s blood, a being with low Magic Power adaptability can become a ’Samurai,’ but they might be unable to strengthen themselves by absorbing Magic Power, relying only on training to grow stronger.
If Saint’s Marrow is used, then one can, like a Saint, absorb Magic Power to empower oneself, just unable to perform blood-gifting.
The ancient Blue Star Civilization perhaps didn’t know the effects of Saint’s Marrow because, in those times, no Saint would allow others to extract their marrow like Yan Luo.
Even the Watcher Sect’s leader might not have known their marrow had such effects.
So the effect of Saint’s Marrow is to allow a being with low Magic Power adaptability to become a weakened version of a Saint!
If a Saint has children, they can surpass the limitation of Magic Power adaptability, becoming a ’Samurai’ while possessing it.
In the supernatural world, indeed, power (strength) can be propagated through bloodlines!
Upon hearing Julia’s answer, Sasa had some crazy ideas, even considering having a child with Yan Luo to verify if the facts align with Julia’s account.
But she quickly discarded this terrible thought.
Birthing a new life on a whim is an awful notion indeed.
Sasa felt she was trending towards becoming a mad scientist, so she raised her hand to tap her head, regaining her clarity.
Julia looked at Sasa, puzzled, not understanding why she tapped her own head—did she have a headache?
"I can present your request to Yan Luo, but whether he accepts it is not up to me." Sasa prefaced.
She admired Julia’s ideals; unfortunately, they were of different races, and Sasa wasn’t sure if Yan Luo was willing to grant Julia his blood.
But merely having such a promise already made Julia quite excited.
"Thank you!" Julia cheerfully bowed, expressing her gratitude to Sasa.
Sasa waved her hand, "There’s no need for such formality."
Then, Sasa remembered something and asked, "By the way, didn’t you mention before that your Elves had no means to cross worlds? If you grow stronger, how do you plan to travel to other worlds?"
"The Great Monarch can do it!" Julia frowned, "But they never want to do it and keep telling us the outside is too dangerous, and we should not leave Alfheim."
Can a Sequence One strength user really traverse worlds?
Sasa felt she had gathered an important piece of information.
