Abyss Sequence
Chapter 347 - 4: Ten Thousand Horsepower
CHAPTER 347: CHAPTER 4: TEN THOUSAND HORSEPOWER
Finally, I’ve arrived at the Crescent Mountain Range!
Yan Luo halted his motorcycle on a cliff, gazing at the mountain landscape layered deep in the distance. He watched as the river flowed majestically through the ranges, listened to the thunderous roar of waterfalls cascading down, and his heart found peace.
If the Crimson Abyss were compared to a game, then the Crescent Mountain Range would be the game’s top-level map. It gathers more than half of the Abyss’s City-breaking Level Demons, where demons below the lethal level can’t even survive.
This is the hunting ground of Advanced Hunters!
And now, Yan Luo should be considered an Advanced Hunter.
After admiring the view with the ’Daylight Filter’ on his goggles, Yan Luo started the motorcycle and began moving through the Crescent Mountain Range.
Technically, this should be Yan Luo’s second visit to the Crescent Mountain Range; the last time he was here to escape pursuit by a City-breaking Level Demon, which doesn’t really count. This time, he was here to hunt City-breaking Level Demons.
Wearing his specialized exoskeleton, Yan Luo carried no backpack. His Space Box was placed in the motorcycle’s tail box, while the thermal melting axe was in the left side box.
Yan Luo planned to see what he could achieve without using weapons.
As Yan Luo roamed the Crescent Mountain Range, he quickly found his first target—the City-breaking Level Shadow Wolf.
Yan Luo felt a connection with such demons, encountering them wherever he went.
Twisting the throttle, Yan Luo drove his motorcycle closer deliberately.
Perched on another mountain, the Shadow Wolf sensed something and turned its head toward Yan Luo’s location. After a brief contemplation, the shadows of the surrounding trees began to stir, forming numerous smaller subordinate Shadow Wolves.
"Awooo!"
The main body of the Shadow Wolf howled skyward, and the subordinate Shadow Wolves surged like a landslide towards the base of the mountain.
Seeing the stimulated Shadow Wolves charging, Yan Luo stopped the motorcycle at the bottom of the mountain, took a deep breath, and clenched his right fist.
Sss—la!
An electric arc flashed over his body, and Yan Luo commanded his magnetic field to accelerate its rotation.
"Magnetic field rotation, ten thousand horsepower!"
Yan Luo shouted, launching a heavy punch forward.
As a mere ten thousand-horsepower nobody, Yan Luo hadn’t yet discovered his ’move,’ but he believed it would come in time.
The magnetic force coursed along Yan Luo’s arm, delivering an immense power capable of pulverizing a small building, striking down the surging wave of subordinate Shadow Wolves in a single hit!
The Shadow Wolf’s main body was stunned upon witnessing this.
But since the subordinate Shadow Wolves were inherently fragile, the main body didn’t overthink it and summoned another batch, twice as numerous as before.
Truly, a sea of subordinate Shadow Wolves howled and roared, turning their chaotic cries into a coordinated charge towards Yan Luo.
Not only had Yan Luo’s previous punch annihilated all the subordinate Shadow Wolves, but it had also obliterated all the trees on the slope.
Seeing a larger group of subordinate Shadow Wolves rushing downhill, Yan Luo’s eyes narrowed slightly with a touch of seriousness.
However, that was all.
With his feet planted in the soil, Yan Luo’s muscles contracted, and in an instant—
He expanded!
Boom—!
Yan Luo’s body resembled an ascending meteor, crashing through the oncoming wave of subordinate Shadow Wolves, heading straight for the Shadow Wolf’s main body.
"Give me——"
With his fist tightly clenched and drawn to his waist, as he approached the main body, Yan Luo let out a roar from his chest.
"——Die!"
The punch flew forth, slicing through the air. The Shadow Wolf’s main body watched helplessly as the fist rapidly enlarged before its eyes, unable to react.
Amidst Yan Luo’s roar, his right fist descended like a slam dunk, smashing the Shadow Wolf’s main body head into the ground, causing the massive head to burst.
Bright ’paint’ splattered suddenly, scattering with Yan Luo’s fist as the center, covering a ten-meter radius.
The subordinate Shadow Wolves not yet crushed by Yan Luo started melting like snowmen, seeping into the ground.
The Shadow Wolf’s main body quickly disintegrated too.
Yan Luo didn’t look at his spoils. Instead, he stood up straight, sensing the condition within his body.
"...Twenty horsepower?"
Remember, Yan Luo now carried the ’Frenzy’ brand, which allowed him to strengthen himself through slaughter.
Indeed, the Shadow Wolf was still too weak.
Yan Luo shook his head involuntarily.
On his way to the Crescent Mountain Range, Yan Luo had also slain other demons, but alas, he hadn’t hunted a City-breaking Level Demon. Thus, he wanted to test his skills on a City-breaking Level Shadow Wolf.
Hunting dangerous-level demons couldn’t increase Yan Luo’s magnetic field strength by even one horsepower, and even hunting deadly-level demons led to only minuscule growth.
Significant growth would start appearing only when hunting lethal-level demons, approximately six to fifteen units of magnetic field strength.
Even at the peak, hunting lethal-level demons could only yield fifteen horsepower of magnetic field strength, while a City-breaking Level Shadow Wolf provided merely twenty.
In comparison, hunting lethal-level demons was more efficient. Just two average-strength lethal-level demons could be equivalent to one City-breaking Level Shadow Wolf.
Not only are they easier to deal with, but typical lethal-level demons can also be found everywhere.
Yan Luo decided not to bother hunting Shadow Wolves next time.
It wasn’t worth it for the little strength gain, not to mention the pitifully meager drop materials.
Yan Luo furrowed his brow, picking up a few wolf teeth from the pit in front of him, turning back to his motorcycle, casually tossing them into the Space Box, not even intending to assess their value.
If a mouthful of wolf teeth had dropped, it might have had some collectible value, but having only a few was useless, selling them could even be embarrassing.
The Shadow Wolf, firmly occupying the multi-level waste ecological niche, should best be ignored next time.
The motorcycle roared to life once more, carrying Yan Luo away from this place.
Not long after, some other Hunters passed by, marveling at the bare slope: "Which Elemental Master unleashed such a big move again?"
Only an Elemental Master with wide-ranging damage ability could create such a bald slope. This Hunter didn’t think of Yan Luo at all.
After all, Yan Luo was no longer who he used to be, and no one knew how powerful he had become.
Shortly after leaving the mountain, Yan Luo was crossing a river valley, driving the motorcycle along the riverbank, when suddenly splashes appeared on the river. Yan Luo glanced sideways as the river exploded, and a crocodile burst out from beneath the water, its gaping maw descending upon Yan Luo.
Yan Luo adjusted the handlebars, causing the motorcycle to drift 127 degrees on the riverbank, gathering his strength to punch the crocodile’s throat.
In the next second, the crocodile’s head exploded.
The magnetic field force pouring in from its throat tore its biting muscles, broke its joints, and then burst within its body, rocketing up to its head.
This was a deadly-level demon, seemingly quite strong, rewarding Yan Luo with thirteen units of magnetic field force.
With just another thousand such deadly-level demons slain, Yan Luo would enhance his magnetic field force by ten thousand units, officially stepping into the ’calamity’ category.
Actually, it wouldn’t require him to kill that many demons.
Apart from hunting demons, Yan Luo could also enhance himself through consuming demons.
Currently, Yan Luo directed most of the digested magic power to strengthen the magnetic field force, with a minor portion automatically enhancing his muscle body, which Yan Luo couldn’t control.
With this dual approach, Yan Luo only needed to kill five hundred deadly-level demons to increase his magnetic field force by ten thousand units.
Could he achieve this goal during this Abyss Hunt?
Absolutely! Absolutely!
Because City-breaking Level Demons could provide far more magnetic field power than deadly-level demons. Apart from ignoring the likes of the embarrassing Shadow Wolves, other City-breaking Level Demons should each enhance his magnetic field by at least thirty units.
The more he kills, the more he fights, the stronger he becomes!
Someday, he might even find a method to cultivate magnetic field power, eliminating the need to consume demons or engage in slaughter to strengthen it.
Thinking of this, Yan Luo couldn’t help but smile, looking into the distance.
He heard a long cry from the sky, presumably the roar of a Soundwave Sub-dragon. Its distinctive cry easily identifiable, Yan Luo recalled the specific sound its roar made, enabling him to tell it apart by sound alone.
"North..." Yan Luo chuckled to himself, twisting the throttle, heading towards the direction of the sound.
