Abyss Sequence
Chapter 41 - 10: Obstruction
CHAPTER 41: CHAPTER 10: OBSTRUCTION
The multi-legged tiger is chasing two parallel armored vehicles, feeling a strong malice behind it pursuing.
This feeling makes it quite upset, so it swings its tail like a steel whip, blindly striking at the enemy behind.
Yan Luo turns the handlebars, the motorcycle swerves immediately, causing the tiger’s tail to hit the ground, leaving a dent.
The next moment, one armored vehicle follows Yan Luo’s instructions and turns left.
The multi-legged tiger sees one armored vehicle moving away ahead but ignores it, continuing to chase the one in front.
"It’s not coming after us!"
The hunters inside the armored vehicle deviating from the original escape route are thrilled.
Everything is just as Yan Luo explained; the multi-legged tiger is ferocious and lazy by nature, once locking onto a target, it will relentlessly pursue it.
Although the two vehicles move side by side, in Yan Luo’s eyes, the tiger’s target is clear: the one on the right.
Thus, he gives orders for Vehicle One to turn left, away from Vehicle Two.
The purpose of this separation isn’t for them to escape alone; Yan Luo already mentioned his goal is to kill this deadly demon, not sacrifice some to let others get away.
[Vehicle One, turn back around, and slow down to try to stay parallel with the multi-legged tiger.]
The two armored vehicles and Yan Luo’s motorcycle have their sensory modules fully activated, and Yan Luo has connected to the Seventh Squad’s sensing system, borrowing their radar to observe the surroundings.
In Yan Luo’s view, this is not the ideal place to deal with the tiger.
All around is vast and flat, offering no restriction to the tiger’s capabilities.
This is a deadly demon, and unlike the silent hunting lizard, the tiger excels in both strength and muscular defense.
Even a direct hit from a rocket on its most vulnerable nose causes only pain, no severe damage.
Despite its shield deflecting some of the rocket’s damage, it highlights the tiger’s formidable defenses.
If the silent hunting lizard is a nimble, stealthy assassin, then the multi-legged tiger is a warrior strong in frontal combat.
Vehicle One follows Yan Luo’s instructions, slightly slowing down to keep pace with the tiger.
Yan Luo keeps pace closely on his motorcycle, ensuring the tiger feels a constant malice pursuing it.
Perhaps due to the intense mental and physical exertion, Yan Luo’s consumption of magic power speeds up, easing his discomfort somewhat, making his breathing much smoother.
With his hunting target ahead and a persistent malice behind, along with a fearless group trying to hunt it, the multi-legged tiger becomes bewildered, momentarily unsure whom to deal with.
At this moment, Yan Luo’s calm voice comes through the team channel, reaching Vehicle One’s driver.
[Vehicle One, be alert; the possibility of the tiger attacking you is not less than eighty percent. I need you to approach the tiger more closely and prepare a shock grenade so when it attacks, you can fire it.]
This is not a request, but a command.
If anyone else had given this order, Vehicle One’s driver might refuse, but this instruction comes from Yan Luo.
Yan Luo, with a mortal body, once defeated a deadly demon unscathed, and he accomplished this feat less than two weeks after becoming a hunter, with no prior experience facing deadly demons.
Because of this, Vehicle One’s driver, after a moment of pondering, resolves to turn the steering wheel right.
Another fearless one charges at me?
The multi-legged tiger doesn’t notice a window of the armored vehicle has opened; it only feels underestimated.
As Yan Luo anticipated, the tiger’s attention shifting constantly between the two armored vehicles gave up chasing Vehicle Two and dives toward Vehicle One.
The hunter, having loaded the shock grenade into the launcher, sees the tiger leaping at him, his heart tightens, instinctively pressing the trigger.
The shock grenade fires out, exploding before the tiger.
Interrupted mid-leap by the shock grenade, the tiger’s brain spasms, and its limbs go limp, causing it to fall, sliding five meters, creating shallow pits in the ground.
This scene ignites the hunters’ emotions instantly.
"That’s it! Kill it! Kill this beast!"
"Avenge the captain, vice-captain, and Uncle Li!"
"This beast must die!"
As expected, Yan Luo, relentlessly pursuing the tiger, directly crashes into the demon that slipped.
Prone to the ground, the tiger becomes a slope, Yan Luo lifts the motorcycle head, charges up, driving over the tiger’s back.
As the motorcycle leaps off the tiger, Yan Luo drops two landmines, then steers away.
"Roar!!"
The enraged tiger rises, and at this moment, Yan Luo commands the mines to detonate.
Two landmines detonate simultaneously, flames rise from the tiger’s back, and the explosion force pins it down once more.
"Keep... keep driving!"
Yan Luo, breathing heavily, coughs a couple of times, then nonchalantly orders the drivers to flee with him.
Two landmines can’t kill a deadly demon; even the silent hunting lizard could withstand the explosion, let alone the tiger.
In the rising blaze, the tiger gets up angrily.
A large part of its fur is gone, and the blast has wrecked the skin and muscle on its back, exposing its white spine.
But its spine remains unmarred!
Filled with rage, the tiger suddenly charges toward the two armored vehicles, now even faster than before.
"I saw your vehicle-mounted machine guns, how much ammunition is left? And let me know your engravings."
The remaining ammo relates to Yan Luo’s combat plan, this must be clarified, same with the engravings.
The hunters from the Seventh Squad report their engravings without hesitation.
Now among the surviving hunters in the squad are none from Sequence 4; everyone possesses a single engraving—
Two [Connection], two [Guide], one [Spirit Cat], one [Breeze], and three [Strength]; this is the squad’s makeup.
Yan Luo, after listening, frowns slightly.
The squad is weaker than he expected; per usual, a squad should have a Sequence 4 double-engraving hunter as captain, who now is nowhere seen—killed by the tiger?
At this moment, something shows up on his radar, appearing before Yan Luo’s eyes.
Seeing it, Yan Luo immediately gives orders: "Vehicle One, Vehicle Two, act with me, I found a good spot to deal with the tiger."
After speaking, Yan Luo turns the handlebars, heading to the ’good spot’ he just found.
The two armored vehicles closely follow.
The Bone-Eroding Plain isn’t entirely flat, it includes terrains such as hills and valleys.
Now what Yan Luo found is a forest.
When Yan Luo marks this location on the map, everyone in the Seventh Squad is startled.
Fight the tiger in the woods with vehicles?
The tiger, large but agile, moves deceptively well in the woods.
How about them?
Turning armored vehicles in the woods is tough, hitting tree roots or stones may lead to a rollover.
Given this, why did Yan Luo say this is a good place to deal with the tiger?
The hunters used the vehicle radio to ask Yan Luo about this.
"Explaining this is troublesome; if you don’t trust me, I’ll leave. My judgment must not be questioned!"
Yan Luo has no time to explain, anyway, explaining would confuse them and disrupt their actions.
The hunters of the Seventh Squad hear this, feeling somewhat displeased.
Li Xinyue glances back, sees the tiger getting closer, quickly informs the others.
Continuing this way leads only to death.
The hunters look at each other.
Li Xinyue takes a deep breath, speaks in the team channel: "If we follow your orders, can you guarantee to lead us out of the Abyss?"
Yan Luo responds coldly: "No, but there’s eighty percent chance I’ll guide you out."
Upon hearing this, Li Xinyue looks at her companions, resolves.
"I’ll act with him, how about you?"
What else can the hunters say?
Silently, the two armored vehicles follow Yan Luo, driving loudly into the woods.
