Abyssal Sovereign: The Demon's Dominion
Chapter 273 - 272: Master, I will die for you
Across the multiverse...
At its edge lay a terrifying galaxy.
As the nearest to the ever-expanding multiverse, it was a place no one wanted to stay. Why? Because here space could randomly collapse, realities could shatter, and you might be erased from existence at any second. Yet this very place was the headquarters of the Wild Shade Group.
That's why people didn't know where they were or what they were doing — they wouldn't even dare to come close if they knew.
On this supposedly deserted galaxy lived a flock of thriving creatures.
They were all members of the Wild Shade Group.
It wasn't right to call them human: bodies were mixed up, limbs missing, strange appendages grafted on. They were more alien than human. This was the planet they called home — their headquarters.
Only the Wild Shade elites could enter without question, for this was where their master lay.
Inside stood a grand building filled with elegant yet chaotic artifacts that inspired a beautiful kind of dread.
Within that building lay a being who, by rights, should look young and healthy — after all, he was a peak multi-universal realm expert — but he currently resembled an old man. His body had been squeezed dry; only bone and a little flesh remained. It looked as if his very life essence had been sucked out. He could barely open his eyes.
Space folded as a familiar female figure appeared.
"Lucy — is that you?" the old man on the bed asked, his voice shaking and, compared to yesterday, thin and frail.
Lucy's eyes reddened at the sight of her master.
Their master was the most human-looking among the Wild Shade, but he had sacrificed everything for them.
Lucy had been an orphan, mistreated by the Federation — left in the streets to die. He had rescued her, as he had rescued the others. That was why they would lay down their lives for him without a question.
"Master, I've brought the blood," Lucy said as she came to his frail bedside. She opened her palm and revealed a terrifying drop of blood that pulsed like a heartbeat.
Badum…
Badum…
Badum…
Badum…
The drop trembled.
The master tried to speak but could not; his energy was too low.
Seeing him like this broke Lucy's heart. How could the one who had been so strong be reduced to this? No one knew he had been sacrificing his essence for them all this time.
Lucy shook herself out of her thoughts and gently opened his mouth. The blood slid down his throat.
It worked. Her master revived immediately.
His old, weathered skin peeled away, replaced by fresh, soft skin like that of a newborn. His face changed rapidly — from a dying, frail man to a handsome young man with a demonic charm.
"Lucy, you did it," the master said, clothing settling over his body, his eyes bright and a demonic smile tugging at his lips.
Lucy's heart skipped a beat as memories flooded back.
The rain had been falling, drenching her hair and rags. She had lost hope in life and in humanity, until a pair of light steps approached — steps that brought hope back.
She looked up to see a man dressed in dark, elegant clothes. The rain seemed to avoid him; not a single drop touched him. When he stood before her, his face was revealed: beautiful, handsome, and tinged with devilish charm.
With his presence, the raindrops stopped falling around them.
She remembered his words.
"You forsaken daughter of the world… lost hope? Not yet. You haven't had your revenge. You haven't made them pay. Do you want revenge? Be strong, so nothing like this happens again."
His voice had been charming and soothing.
She had said yes. Over time, she only wanted to be strong enough to be of use to her master — to protect him, for he was like a father to her. More than that.
As her heart raced and her mind filled with thought, a hand grabbed her neck. She gasped, eyes widening at the person who had done it.
Her reborn master.
"Lucy… can you die for me?" the master asked, the same smile they had the day they met tugging his lips. His eyes locked onto hers.
Even as a multi-universal being, she felt like a child before him, but she did not struggle. Her eyes stared at his handsome face. She smiled, relieved.
"Master, my life was never mine to begin with — it's yours. If I can help you in any way, I will lay down my life for you. To help you is a privilege. What's one life compared to you, master? If I had more lives, I would give each and every one for you. I will die for you," Lucy whispered, growing weaker as she spoke.
"Good girl. I promise you, I will get your revenge and fulfill your dream," the master said with a smile.
"Thank you, master. But my dream… sadly you can't fulfill it," Lucy said. When she spoke, the master's hand shook.
"What is your dream, Lucy?" he asked softly. Lucy laughed — not at his question, but at herself.
"Master, my dream is to always be by your side and protect you," she answered, tears falling.
"Shh. You protected me and did more. Thank you, Lucy," her master cut in.
"Thank you too, master," Lucy replied — and in that instant, her neck was ruptured.
Her essence drained, her body collapsing into a single drop of blood.
Her soul, her consciousness — all condensed into that drop as her master swallowed it.
"It's complete," a different voice echoed—darker, more devilish.
"Yes, I know. The ability to kill multi-universal realm beings… such a crazy thing," the master said, a dark laugh escaping his lips.
"It is. But tell me—why do you seem more like a devil than me? I still can't believe you played your most loyal servants. You destroyed their lives just so you could swoop in as their savior, only to set a trap and kill them all. How were you even okay with it?" the shadowy being asked, his voice ancient, guttural, darker than the void itself.
"They had no purpose. Nothing. I gave them everything—including that same power. So why shouldn't I take it back? As for their deaths…" the master's voice was disturbingly calm, almost casual. "You saw it yourself. They all died happily."
"I see…" the being in the shadows muttered, his tone unreadable.
"Well," the master continued, his smile sharp and cold, "all for the greater good. I mean, who wouldn't give everything… for power?"
