Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss
Chapter 125: Holding a Wedding Ceremony Again
CHAPTER 125: CHAPTER 125: HOLDING A WEDDING CEREMONY AGAIN
Isn’t there a saying that drunk men are useless?
It seems that’s not the case with him.
This doesn’t seem useless at all.
Sophia felt the man was apologizing because of Beau Morgan, so he was choosing to respect her feelings.
It wasn’t always like this before.
Previously, he was like a ravenous beast, a starving wolf on drugs.
Today was an exception.
It was almost five by the time it was all over.
She was awakened by the man’s arm pressing on her.
His arm was draped over her, making it hard for her to breathe.
"...Zane." She moved his arm away.
He murmured in response, stretched his arm around her waist, pulling her close.
She closed her eyes groggily again, his chest was warm, especially comforting in the cold winter.
It was nearly noon when a large group of people finally got up, probably lingering effects of staying up late last night, and everyone sat down for lunch synchronously.
No one suspected anyone of doing anything remarkable last night.
Zane held the woman’s hand, a smile playing on his lips.
She was so happy last night, has she forgiven me?
With that delicate look of hers, he was also feeling quite uncomfortable.
Zane was a bit confused, this woman clearly seemed happy, so why was she ignoring him?
And Sophia felt teased by the man, thinking it was a punishment.
With a gut full of anger, she resisted even being held by him.
She couldn’t be magnanimous about Beau Morgan; she’d never suffered such grievances before.
She was calculating how to solve this issue, as Beau Morgan was now a ticking time bomb that kept her from eating or sleeping.
After finishing their first meal of the day, they went to the vegetable plot to kiln some sweet potatoes, with a few men enthusiastically involved as if they were children.
Sophia, Autumn Lowell, Willow Sterling, Ian Lynch’s father, and Zeke Lowell sat under the gazebo nearby, drinking tea, enjoying snacks, waiting for the sweet potatoes.
Sophia watched her man, she’d never seen Zane like this.
He wasn’t wearing a coat, instead, a high-necked wool sweater, warm work pants, paired with shiny Martin boots, looking just like a big boy.
His solid chest outlined under the black wool sweater, it had to be said, he was a natural clotheshorse.
This was a complete contrast to his usual suited-up self, today he was full of sunny vibes.
The man who just finished building the kiln clapped the dirt off his hands, sensing someone was watching him, he turned back, meeting the woman’s gaze through his glasses.
Sure enough, that woman was watching him.
He tilted his head slightly, questioning with his eyes: What’s up?
As soon as their eyes met, Sophia quickly averted her gaze, not daring to look at him directly.
Instantly, her cheeks flushed red.
She picked up her teacup, took a sip of Dragon Well tea, then sneakily glanced at him from the corner of her eye.
She was still angry, yet just looking at him seemed to ease her anger quite a bit. Why is that?
But he was still fixated on her, as if he’d found his long-awaited prey, determined to have her.
Sure enough, he washed his hands and walked towards her.
Zane patted Sophia on the shoulder, sat beside her, his long arm around her chair back, and took a sip from her teacup.
Sophia trembled slightly at his touch, not daring to look at him, and now he was drinking her tea, she was terribly embarrassed.
"That’s mine..." She didn’t finish the sentence, swallowing it instead.
The relationships between the Lowell, Lynch, and Sterling families were already tight, and last night’s all-night drinking seemed to have tightened business relationships even further.
Although Zane didn’t come back often, the Lynch and Lowell families were well acquainted with this influential figure, Zane Sterling.
"Sophia works as a fashion designer at Zane’s company?" Zeke Lowell’s gaze landed on Sophia.
There’s a hint of questioning in his voice, and also a hint of backing her up.
"Grandpa, I just love designing," Sophia quickly defended.
Last night, she got hints from Willow Sterling that Zeke Lowell’s current capability was unrivaled, standing at the pinnacle of the internet.
And Nancy Sawyer was sent there by him personally, and it was also him who broke her leg.
Looking at it this way, it was indeed deserved!
Breaking her leg was already considered forgiving.
Zeke Lowell smiled, "Just curious, with the city’s richest man working at a small fashion company for a beauty, I’m worried my Sophia, who’s simple-hearted, might get bullied."
Zane smirked lightly, fiddling with Sophia’s smooth hair, twirling it around beside her.
"Wherever she is, I’ll be there." He said.
Zeke Lowell said nothing.
The Sterling family had always been known for their passionate men.
The men discussed their own matters.
Autumn Lowell turned and asked Sophia, "When are you getting married?"
"Yeah, I want to know too." Willow Sterling was eating a baked tangerine.
Sophia pressed her lips together, her face turning a shade of red, she glanced shyly at the man beside her talking with Zeke Lowell.
She bashfully responded, "Once we’re done with this busy period first."
"Zane’s being unreasonable; I’ll have to have a word with him later." Willow Sterling lifted her chin, as if she’d take up the matter for her.
"No, he’s busy enough already." Sophia quietly refused, afraid he’d overhear.
He was supremely busy, especially at Spectra Inc., and had to handle other companies’ business as well. Not to mention it being troublesome, there was an overwhelming amount of work.
He left for work before dawn, and sometimes had to attend social events or work overtime in the evenings.
How could he find the time to attend the wedding, in the end, it would be like marrying a chicken at a temple?
"No matter how busy, you have to have a wedding. Just getting a certificate, how would people know your relationship? There are rumors of your improper relationship outside." Willow Sterling, who’s quite keen on gossip usually.
"Set a date for the wedding, and leave the rest to us to plan, you two just show up for the ceremony." Autumn Lowell suggested.
Sophia’s cheeks burned from all the questioning.
At this point, a hot, large hand settled on her shoulder.
The warm body beside her pressed closer, a faint scent of sandalwood wafting over.
Zane’s magnetic voice traveled across Sophia, reaching Autumn Lowell’s ears.
"Mom, don’t worry, the wedding is being planned, set for the national holiday, we’ll have everything others have."
Her heart pounded, this was the first time she was so intimate with him in front of so many acquaintances, she was incredibly nervous.
His ears were surprisingly sharp, able to catch their conversation even as he spoke to others.
"Then we’re relieved!" Autumn Lowell assured.
Even Zeke Lowell nodded slightly.
Only Sophia was flustered and anxious.
"Why are you so timid?" A warm breath quietly entered her ear, "Your ears are completely red." Zane chuckled teasingly.
Sophia tactically picked up her teacup, downing it in one go, without responding to him.
"Are you still angry? Angry with me or with her?" Zane asked.
Sophia only smiled, saying nothing.
"Don’t worry, I’ll sort her out."
"What are you planning to do?"
"Someone bullied my wife, and now my wife won’t even talk to me, how can I just sit back and do nothing?"
His words made Sophia’s cheeks flush again and again.
