Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss
Chapter 135: Prayed for at the Temple
CHAPTER 135: CHAPTER 135: PRAYED FOR AT THE TEMPLE
The press conference was nearing its end, and Annie happened to run into Sophia Lowell in the corridor.
Annie excitedly rushed forward and hugged her, "Sis, I owe you one! You don’t know, but the backstage was about to explode!"
Zane Sterling frowned as he watched Sophia Lowell release her hand and embrace her friend, his face immediately darkening.
He rubbed his empty palm, dug his hands into his pockets, and glanced at the corner of the side room not far away.
A tall figure was staring at the scene intently.
"Sorry, Mr. Sterling, for the lack of hospitality." Annie released Sophia Lowell and looked at the man beside them, who wasn’t particularly pleased.
"Mr. Abbott." Zane Sterling nodded slightly, his gaze landing toward the side room.
Annie followed his gaze and saw Warren Jennings standing there.
He wore a tracksuit, his hair had grown long, hanging over his ears, and his stubble appeared patchy.
If it weren’t for his somewhat handsome face and clean clothes, one might mistake him for a wild man.
Sophia Lowell squeezed her hand, as if asking if she needed help.
"It’s good he’s not causing trouble, this matter needs a proper discussion." Annie suddenly felt exhausted.
Zane Sterling nodded toward Warren Jennings, signaling him to come over.
He wasn’t helping him out; he was assisting Annie.
If Annie didn’t allow him to approach, Zane Sterling wouldn’t let Warren Jennings get close to them.
Warren Jennings swallowed, his feet felt like they were filled with lead as he walked over.
He feared Zane Sterling; the man was rich and powerful, if he nodded, he knew it would be a yes.
Annie frowned, at the moment, that man could be described as a walking corpse.
Can dirty things be wanted anymore?
Some people can’t be warmed up; his return was merely driven by guilt and reputation.
Annie was his second choice.
The first choice was Vivian Hale, Annie knew that, it had always been the case.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t openly mess around with Vivian Hale, making Annie the frequent laughing stock in the industry.
Now that Vivian Hale had troubles, he had no way back, Annie was his fallback.
If Annie didn’t relent, then this would be his life.
Zane Sterling took Sophia Lowell’s hand.
Sophia Lowell looked at Annie, Annie nodded toward her, indicating everything was fine.
"We’ll head back then, call me if anything happens." Sophia Lowell was still a bit worried.
But seeing her assistant standing not far away, she wasn’t as worried.
Sophia Lowell left with Zane Sterling.
"It’s quite heartbreaking." Sophia Lowell said, glancing at the two peacefully talking not far away.
Would she and Zane Sterling face such a situation in the future?
She pressed her lips together.
Apparently, the two not far away were exhausted, both physically and mentally, the decision to stay or leave seemed to have been made tonight.
Zane Sterling tightened his grip on the woman’s hand, his deep gaze falling on her ever-changing face.
"Don’t be upset, don’t even think about it!" Zane Sterling squeezed her hand fiercely.
"It hurts!" Sophia Lowell tapped him.
"Who told you to overthink!" Zane Sterling gritted his teeth.
"I didn’t!"
"It’s written all over your face!"
"..."
Sophia Lowell chuckled, his investigative skills were impressive.
Zane Sterling was eager to pull her out of there to prevent her from witnessing the confrontational scene, as any little movement would trigger wild thoughts.
This was a woman’s nature.
But it was this very nature that often scored extra points in assessing a man’s feelings.
A woman’s intuition is generally accurate.
Sometimes men only behave honestly when hung up as a painting.
Zane Sterling opened the back door, pushed her in, and then got into the car himself.
"The Old Street." He told Butler Langley.
The car left the courtyard.
Ethan Sinclair stood beside Beau Morgan at the roadside, waiting for a car together.
Ethan Sinclair pursed his lips, implying something profound.
"How did Mr. Sterling end up with her?" Beau Morgan asked with a tired look.
"Prayed for at the temple." Ethan Sinclair said lightly.
Beau Morgan chuckled, she didn’t know the relationship between Ethan Sinclair and Sophia Lowell, "Seems like I should go to the temple and pray to The Great Sage."
"Sincerity doesn’t always yield results, sometimes The Great Sage doesn’t have time to listen, it mainly depends on fate."
"If once doesn’t work, then twice, if twice doesn’t work, then thrice, eventually The Great Sage will have time, won’t he?"
Ethan Sinclair chuckled, glancing at his watch.
"It’s past ten, time for dreams."
Beau Morgan glanced at her, knowing Ethan Sinclair liked to joke, and didn’t read too much into it.
They each got into their cars and left.
Ethan Sinclair looked at his phone, a message from Hugh Irving.
[Good brother, the wine’s ready, where are you? Been waiting for you a long time. [image]]
He opened the image, the glass of red wine illuminating an enchanting woman, she wore a black slip dress, revealing a graceful figure.
His eyes deepened, he tugged at his tie, swallowed, unbuttoned the first button on his chest, and replied.
[Good sister, your brother is coming, wait for me...]
"Driver, please speed up..." Ethan Sinclair said.
——
Butler Langley parked the car next to The Old Street, Zane Sterling and Sophia Lowell got out, holding hands.
It was almost eleven, and there were seven or eight people lining up ahead to order food.
"When did you realize I liked eating this?" Sophia Lowell turned to look at the man.
It was the second night after their wild moment, he was the one to take her home and bought her dessert.
Later whenever he had time, he’d bring her some.
Zane Sterling smiled, "I like it too."
She didn’t know, whenever she finished work, this man would follow her.
If he didn’t hide well, he’d probably be reported and arrested.
He felt like he was possessed at the time, inexplicably giving himself the stalker title.
This woman would buy a portion whenever she was in a good mood, her dopamine levels would rise rapidly.
She’d buy a portion, and Zane Sterling would follow and buy one too.
Without her knowing, they would eat dessert at the same time.
He found it romantic and felt closer to her.
Later, he also grew to love sweets.
"Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, what a coincidence." A familiar voice came from the other line.
Beau Morgan looked at their tightly clasped hands with a hint of intoxication.
It was indeed a coincidence.
This was genuine tailing, tracking them all the way here.
Sophia Lowell smiled, didn’t respond.
Zane Sterling nodded too, his brows furrowed at her sudden appearance.
"One hot tenderness, please." Beau Morgan told the server, then pulled out her phone to scan and pay.
Beau Morgan’s line was clearly faster, people were ordering several portions at a time here.
After packing up, she didn’t rush to leave but said to Sophia Lowell, "Last time Mr. Sterling treated us, it took a while to find out this shop was here, the taste is really good!"
"Is that so." Sophia Lowell smiled.
Zane Sterling smirked and said as she was about to leave, "Thanks for Manager Morgan’s efforts. Since you’re right on the spot, let’s trouble you with tomorrow’s company tea."
Beau Morgan was stunned for two seconds, then agreed with a smile.
As she turned to leave, her face immediately fell.
"You treated her?" Sophia Lowell was displeased.
Zane Sterling touched her little head, "It was for the whole company, just that one time."
Sophia Lowell chuckled, she remembered which day it was.
