CHAPTER 152: CHAPTER 152: HE CAME SPECIFICALLY TO SLEEP WITH HER

Everyone knew about the situation with Clay Gable and Nathan Jennings; Nathan had just spilled everything when he was drunk, and it wasn’t much of a secret in the industry anymore.

"Why are you here?" Nathan Jennings scooted to the side, looking panic-stricken.

After Clay Gable greeted the few people around him, he sat down beside her.

She was reeking of alcohol, even the breath coming from her nose carried a mesmerizing scent.

"I came to find you," he said calmly.

Nathan forced a smile, glancing over at Colby Jennings, not far away.

Colby Jennings didn’t dare to intervene; if Elder Jennings found out, he feared he would have his legs broken.

"What do you want from me..." she mumbled, continuing to nibble on her lamb skewer.

"To take you back," Clay Gable said with a slight smile on his lips.

"I’m staying here tonight," Nathan tried to shake him off.

"I’m staying too."

"..." She viciously bit into the lamb and poured herself some more wine.

Clay Gable chuckled, suddenly finding her very cute, and made no attempt to stop her.

"Mr. Gable." Charles Sinclair handed him a stainless-steel cup, half-filled with homemade white wine.

He naturally took it in his hand, "Thank you."

"Mr. Gable, there’s still some time before we get married, could you stop pestering me?" Nathan was inwardly frustrated.

She had only met this man a few times, and now she was supposed to marry him?

Things weren’t supposed to be this serious. Who knows which toady leaked the photos of Clay Gable wrapped in a towel appearing in Nathan’s room that day? It was truly a case of having a reasonable explanation but being unable to clear it up.

"This is called accompanying, not pestering; that is what’s called pestering." Clay Gable motioned with his chin.

Sophia Lowell, half-drunk, lay in Zane Sterling’s arms, the two of them sweet-talking with each other.

Nathan couldn’t chase him away, so she could only stand up and leave.

She carefully stood up, making sure not to fall; she couldn’t let this old man take advantage.

Clay Gable took a sip of wine, swallowed, and followed behind her.

"Clay Gable, I don’t want you to accompany me. Don’t follow me, go follow someone else. I’m going back to my room to rest, find somewhere else to stay yourself." Nathan, drunk as she was, felt the whole courtyard spinning around her.

But her mind was quite clear. She knew this man had been following her with ill intentions.

Clay Gable followed her silently.

He just wanted to spend some simple time with her, even without talking.

Nathan quickened her pace, and Clay Gable followed right behind.

Colby Jennings stood not far away, watching them heading toward the courtyard, seemingly intending to return to their rooms.

He frowned, feeling as if the prized cabbage in the family had been snatched away by an outsider.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, especially seeing Clay Gable pulling Nathan into his arms to support her.

"Damn it..." Colby muttered, "Really, not human..."

Nathan grabbed onto his shoulders with both hands to stabilize herself, but she could feel how firm Clay Gable was, solid all over.

And she felt like a puddle of mud, completely losing her strength after drinking.

"Clay Gable! You lecher!" Nathan pounded his chest with both hands, hurriedly pushing him away.

Clay Gable carefully loosened his hold, supporting her loosely, afraid she might fall.

"It’s a normal reaction, Nathan." He didn’t even know why his voice had turned hoarse, nor did he understand why just being held by this young girl made him...

He clearly hadn’t done anything.

He swallowed hard.

Nathan, now scared, leaned against a nearby pillar.

Fearing to frighten her further, Clay Gable stepped back two paces and called Sophia Lowell to ask for help.

Sophia arrived shortly, with Zane Sterling tagging along behind her.

Nathan was clinging tightly to the pillar, tears welling up in her eyes, staring at this flood beast in front of her.

"I’ll take you back to rest," Sophia said, supporting her.

"He’s always following me..." Nathan held onto Sophia.

Sophia patted her back, "Don’t worry, I won’t let him follow you."

"Then stay with me tonight..."

"..." Zane Sterling interjected, "I’m still here! I don’t agree! Tonight was supposed to be my romantic evening!"

"..." Clay Gable, looking innocent, "I haven’t done anything."

"Alright, alright, I’ll stay with you," Sophia gently comforted, taking her back to her room.

Zane Sterling sighed, casting a glance at Clay Gable.

"Come on, Mr. Gable, have a drink," Zane’s tone, not at all friendly.

"Okay." Clay Gable, looking at the girl’s departing back, seemed lost in thought.

"Mr. Gable, the way you’re chasing after a girl, you’re just going to make her run faster," Zane chided, angry.

If it weren’t for his presence, tonight would have been his lovely rendezvous, only to be disrupted in such a discourteous manner.

"Sorry." Clay Gable took a small sip of his drink.

Sophia led Nathan back to the room.

After a sweaty horseback ride and drinking today, Nathan, reeking of alcohol, went into the bathroom to take a shower.

The bathroom door was ajar, afraid she might fall, Sophia stayed seated on the sofa outside.

When Nathan emerged, water was still dripping from her hair, which Sophia helped blow-dry.

"Why did you drink so much today?" Sophia asked.

"Who likes this stuff? It’s more bitter than life itself. It just frustrates me thinking about marrying that old man, Clay Gable, so I took a few more sips. I didn’t expect him to actually come here and find me!" Nathan lay on the edge of the sofa, taking a long breath fueled by alcohol.

"He’s only seven or eight years older than you, how is that considered old?" She chuckled.

"You didn’t see the way he acted tonight; it felt like he was going to sleep with me tonight." Nathan’s eyes reddened as she mumbled, "So desperate..."

When Clay Gable held Nathan earlier, his reaction embarrassed her, leading her to think he came specifically to sleep with her.

But she had no evidence.

"Mr. Gable... he’s a straightforward person; you can’t really blame him."

Sophia had also only met Clay Gable a few times, but he was always direct in his conduct...

Nathan frowned, covering her still-blushing face, "I’m so afraid of marrying him, he’s so tall, I feel like a tiny dwarf."

Nathan was only 162 cm, while Clay Gable was easily over 188 cm.

She whimpered, "What if he comes looking for me in the middle of the night?"

Sophia burst out laughing, "He shouldn’t be that much of a beast..."

Nathan didn’t believe a word from Sophia, planning to move the sofa against the door tonight, or take a cab home in the middle of the night.

But it’s pitch-black in the countryside, taking a cab wasn’t a good idea. She could only pray that something would delay Clay Gable tonight, so he’d leave.

Before she could finalize her plans, she was already dozing off in bed.

Sophia looked at her, tucked in the corners of her blanket, and then left the room.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw Colby Jennings sitting by the corridor.

"Is she asleep?" he asked.

"Drunk," Sophia replied with a smile.

Colby Jennings sighed. The Jennings Family had just one daughter, Clay Gable was truly blessed to be able to marry her.

If he hadn’t just called Sophia, Colby might have been grabbing a brick by now.

The Jennings girl, as beautiful as she was, didn’t deserve to be paired with a lone wolf like Clay Gable, but Elder Jennings had a special fondness for him.

And the industry gossip served as an excellent catalyst.
