Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss
Chapter 165: Who’s Playing Whom?
CHAPTER 165: CHAPTER 165: WHO’S PLAYING WHOM?
"Clay Gable is really handsome." Sophia nudged Nathan, who was absentmindedly eating a small cake.
Nathan tugged at the corner of his mouth, only smiling without speaking.
That man had quite a big reaction just now...
The sensation still lingered below the abdomen and wouldn’t dissipate.
It’s still burning, still tense...
"When you fell into the water earlier, he dove right in without hesitation. It was insanely cool when he pulled you up." Hugh looked at her with admiration.
"Then, do you want him?" Nathan frowned.
"Oh, I wouldn’t dare." Hugh immediately backtracked.
The three of them chatted and laughed, when two men approached them, along with the two women wrapped in towels who had fallen into the water earlier.
"Bro! It’s them!" The short-haired woman pointed in the direction of Sophia and the others.
They then approached them menacingly.
Sophia seemed to feel a different gaze and the three of them looked over together.
The man in the black suit eyed Sophia’s graceful figure and couldn’t help but swallow, as if his anger had slightly faded.
The man in the gray suit nudged his arm, asking, "Which one do you want?"
"The one in the black one-piece swimsuit, that figure... deadly..."
"Then I want the one in the bikini..."
The two of them chuckled secretly.
"Got a problem?" Sophia shot them a glance, placing the fork beside her plate.
Hugh leaned back in her chair, legs crossed, looking at the two women behind her who were still trembling.
"What? Haven’t had enough to drink?" She sneered.
Nathan remained silent, contemplating sending a message to call for help, but didn’t know whom to contact.
Should he call Colby Jennings? Colby had just answered a call and went somewhere, still unseen, probably busy.
Call Clay Gable?
No way, that man might be dealing with his own issues somewhere now.
Thinking of this, a vivid image popped into her mind.
She shuddered and dismissed the idea of calling for help.
"I heard you were the ones who pushed my sister into the water?" The man in the black suit asked towering over them.
His eyes rested on the woman’s chest.
The three of them collectively draped towels over their shoulders, covering themselves securely.
"Yes, so what?" Sophia answered without hesitation, "Tit for tat; they made my sister drink water, so naturally they have to taste it themselves."
"Bro! We didn’t do it on purpose; Nathan just wasn’t watching the road and fell in by himself, but they used their numbers to kick us into the water!" The short-haired woman stood out, pointing at them.
The man in the suit pulled the woman behind him to quiet her.
"Do you know who we are?" The suited man let out a cold laugh, "Today is the Sterling Group’s IPO celebration, and you’re causing trouble on our turf, it’s not going to end well for you, is it?"
"Sterling Group employees, huh?" Sophia chuckled, "I thought you guys were some wild ducks, being so arrogant."
Hugh and Nathan both chuckled.
Daring to play tricks in front of the boss’s wife, truly courting death.
The suited man’s complexion changed, but he quickly plastered on a sycophantic smile, "Don’t be too smug, if the company gets wind that you bullied our people, it won’t be pretty for you."
"Oh?" Sophia expressed interest, "What should we do then? We’re actually quite scared!"
The suited man became angry with her nonchalant attitude, his brows furrowed.
Seeing that there was no one around, he became even more arrogant, saying, "Play with me and have fun, and I won’t hold it against you, otherwise I’ll make you crawl out of here crying!"
"Bro, these women might be here to seduce Sterling Group’s people; better take them in to prevent harm!" The woman whispered next to him, advising.
"So young, yet so filthy-minded!" Hugh threw down the fork on the table, casting a disdainful glance at the two miserable women in front of her.
The heavy makeup was ruined, looking like two water ghost women who had just crawled out.
"You still have time to consider, but don’t keep me waiting too long."
"So eager? Aren’t there candidates right in front of you? As long as they don’t get pregnant you can still have fun." Hugh laughed.
Angry, the woman stepped forward to hit her.
But Hugh wasn’t someone who was easily bullied; she stood up and with both hands pushed, knocking the woman onto the sun-heated floor.
She screamed in pain.
Seeing their sister being bullied, the two men instantly raised their hands and charged forward.
Before Hugh could react, a large hand pulled her back, crashing her into a scorching chest.
Right before her eyes, a long leg encased in suit trousers kicked over, and the man fell to the ground, his suit stained by dirty water.
"You son of a bitch!"
A burst of profanity echoed in Hugh’s ears.
Turning her head, she saw it was Ethan Sinclair.
It had been a while since she’d seen him; he seemed to have matured, but his words were still as flippant as ever.
Ever since he became a shareholder, his aura became even more pronounced; the calmness on his face masks his unruly nature, yet he falters when speaking.
He glanced at the man on the ground, then focused on Hugh.
Seeing she was steady, he released her.
But Hugh was already panicked inside.
Sophia and Nathan had just stood up.
They saw a group of people had already arrived in front of them.
Including Zane Sterling and Clay Gable.
Clay Gable had changed clothes, now dressed in a suit, looking serious.
Seeing him, Nathan’s face blushed, displaying clear nervousness.
"Come here." Clay Gable casually glanced at Nathan and stretched out his hand towards her.
Nathan, as if spellbound, reached out to hold his hand.
Clay Gable smiled and approached her.
"Who are you playing with?" Zane Sterling’s gaze fell on the men in front of him.
His big hand tightly held Sophia’s hand, his gaze like icy shards, piercing with coldness.
The man in the black suit turned pale the moment he saw Zane Sterling holding Sophia’s hand, his mouth twitching.
He looked at the woman in Ethan’s arms and Nathan standing by Clay Gable.
He realized his career was over.
At the same time, they had offended three men they shouldn’t have, akin to a large-scale execution ground.
"Mr. Sterling, we were just joking..." The suited man got up, bowed, nodding and groveling, utterly devoid of arrogance.
"Bro, who is he..." The woman who had just struggled up asked quietly.
"My boss..." he replied timidly.
"Not anymore." Zane Sterling replied indifferently.
He glanced at the bodyguards behind him, and the lead nodded.
"Let’s go." Zane Sterling wrapped his arm around the woman’s shoulder, turning to leave the place.
Ethan followed beside him, Hugh following behind them.
The bodyguards remained behind.
"Mr. Sterling! We were wrong! Mr. Sterling!" The suited man was about to follow but was blocked by the bodyguards.
Once they left, the bodyguards took the people away.
"Hungry?" Zane Sterling squeezed the woman’s shoulder.
"A bit..." Sophia nuzzled her head against the man’s chest.
Zane Sterling smiled, leading her through the farmhouse courtyard.
She was about to look back at Hugh but was pulled away by Zane Sterling.
"Don’t meddle in others’ affairs." He said.
Meanwhile, she saw Ethan beside Hugh.
"Want to go to mine for a hot shower?" Ethan asked.
"Sure." Hugh nodded.
