CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: GIVE IT A TRY!

Back at the hotel, it was already ten thirty.

After Sophia had her bath, she lay on the bed.

By the time Zane finished his bath and came out, she was already asleep.

Compared to the first day, she seemed a bit different today. She slept in the middle, and her small hands, which were usually clenched while sleeping, were unusually relaxed.

He sat at the bedside, tilted his head to look at her perfect profile, and reached out to touch her forehead. Her temperature was normal.

Zane didn’t sleep. He just sat quietly by the bed, watching her curled up, hugging a pillow, her golden curls scattered on the milk-white pillow, resembling a porcelain doll.

There were only two pillows on the bed, one under her head and one in her arms.

He chuckled, wanting to keep watching, but was interrupted by the buzzing of a phone.

It was her phone, an unknown number.

He picked up the phone, glanced at it, and the vibrating stopped. The screen showed four missed calls, all from the same person.

He turned off the bedside lamp, left the floor lamp on, and walked out to the balcony with her phone.

The phone vibrated again, and he answered it.

"Sophia, please don’t hang up!" Henry’s voice said.

Zane smirked lightly without speaking.

"Sophia, you finally answered! I’m sorry, I was drunk that day! I really didn’t know I would do something so despicable! I’ve been punished for it!

Sophia, Sienna and I are over, and I don’t care what’s going on between you and Zane. Can you please not leave me?"

Henry’s tone was so humble, it seemed pitiful, laughable.

He was probably still in the hospital, as he could hear a nurse’s subtle inquiries through the phone, and his voice trembled a bit, indicating his recovery wasn’t going well.

"Mr. Quinn." Zane spoke up.

Hearing a man’s voice, Henry panicked, seemingly jumping off the bed and tearing his wound. He gasped and groaned in pain.

"Who are you? Where’s Sophia? Why do you have her phone..."

"Mr. Quinn."

Zane interrupted his string of questions.

Henry fell silent, calming down. He could sense the composure of the man on the other side, which was intimidating, forcing him to maintain composure and make the other feel he had enough presence.

Yet, he hadn’t expected Sophia to have a man beside her who could chill one’s blood with just a few words.

"She’s tired and just fell asleep."

These words, though few, completely overwhelmed Henry.

"Who are you! What’s your relationship! Sophia would never let anyone into her bedroom lightly!"

"Son! Son! Are you on the phone with that wicked woman again..."

The sound of hurried high heels echoed in the closed room.

"Ouch! The wound has opened again..."

"Doctor! Doctor..."

Chaos ensued on the other side.

"Do you want to know, Mr. Quinn?"

Zane responded casually, turning back to the room.

"Everyone shut up!" Henry roared, and the other side froze, eerily quiet.

Zane placed the phone back on the bedside table without hanging up.

He bent down, lowered his head to look at the small woman in front of him, gently caressing her baby-like cheek and softly called:

"Sophia..."

"Hmm..." Sophia responded groggily.

"...think"

The single word made Henry’s long-held tears fall.

Sophia slowly opened her eyes, seeing Zane so close made her alert.

"Hmm..."

Zane kissed her, and soon, Henry heard Sophia’s gentle, alluring moan through the phone.

He glanced at the phone on the bedside, smugly closing his eyes slowly.

A large hand intertwined with her hair, resting on the back of her head, gripping her and kissing deeply.

Leaving Sophia no time to react, no gap to resist, the pleasure from his caress engulfed her.

His large hand wandered under the quilt.

"...Hmm...Stop..."

Sophia tugged at his hand under the quilt, her anxious plea became coquettish banter between their eyes.

"Hmm..."

Zane’s husky voice resonated through the phone.

Henry trembled, ending the call, clutching the phone so tight his knuckles turned white, teeth grinding, eyes bloodshot...

In his memory, Sophia was a reserved, polite person, never getting close to any man easily, even with him, her boyfriend of five years, limited to holding hands, sometimes requiring permission.

Two years of college, two years of long-distance, and one year this year — five years in total, she never crossed the line.

If not for her background, he once thought she was from a well-off family or a noble.

And today, she was in another man’s arms, voice alluring, stirring. Even over the phone, that voice embarrassed Henry.

Imagining her with a man in bed left Henry utterly shattered, his tight grip on the phone sent it crashing against the wall, shattering instantly.

...

"...Zane"

Sophia rationally pushed him away, hands pressing against his heated chest, her body trembling, breathing coarse from his provocation.

The glasses-wearing Zane couldn’t hide the desire in his eyes even through the lenses.

She wondered why he became so fervent now, though he was gentlemanly earlier, was he naturally beastly in these matters?

Zane swallowed, wiping sweat from Sophia’s brow.

"...Sorry, just wanted a kiss, nothing more."

Sophia admitted she liked it earlier, but for some reason, she pushed him away.

Such conflict.

She recalled Ariel’s words, [Did you two have nothing after the first night? Just enjoy, sister, he seems really good at it...]

Her face flushed with heat.

Later on, when their emotions deepened, Sophia realized Ariel was right, indeed, he was adept.

During the day, he was cultured, calm, but at night, his rebellious, headstrong nature from youth emerged.

Unreservedly displaying his wild side, every inch of him filled with fearsome aggression.

Zane slowly got up, turned to organize the buttons unknowingly undone.

"You..." She sat up cautiously, "Give me some time..."

"Alright."

Sophia hurriedly tightened her disheveled clothes, put on her pants, and entered the bathroom.

[Sister, what are you hesitating about with such a handsome man? He said it’s on him, giving you face, but it’s clear you started it, and he took responsibility. Rich and capable, why let go? You’re married anyway, those things are inevitable!]

Self-soothing thoughts flooded her mind.

At worst, he wasn’t as bad as Henry!

Ha!

Sophia seemed to reach a decision, unbuttoned the third button on her chest, revealing her fair collarbone, awkwardly adjusting her clothes.

Give it a try!

But just as she was ready, she felt a warm flow inconveniently emerge.

This relative’s timing wasn’t ruining the mood?

Feeling awkward, she exited the bathroom and turned on the room light.

Zane was lying on the bed, not asleep, just on his phone.

She opened the cabinet, searching for something but unable to find it.

"What are you looking for?" Zane set down his phone.

"..." Sophia was a bit embarrassed, closing the cabinet. "My period started..."

"Your period came so late?"

That sounded like something a straightforward man would say.

"..."

After two seconds, Zane realized, quickly getting up, noticing it wasn’t on the list, seeming to forget women had such issues.

"I’ll go get..." pausing: "I’ll go buy it."

Throwing on a coat, he didn’t change and headed straight out.
