Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him
Chapter 119: Natalie Vaughn Steps In to Save Someone
CHAPTER 119: CHAPTER 119: NATALIE VAUGHN STEPS IN TO SAVE SOMEONE
Natalie Vaughn didn’t give Shannon Rhodes an answer. She must have been out of her mind to learn about motorcycles from Zane Thorne’s ex-girlfriend. Even if Shannon was a cool woman and she somewhat admired her, it wasn’t right.
These are two different matters.
After finishing her milk, Zane was still chatting with someone. Natalie got up and walked out of the private room, standing by the window, overlooking the dazzling city lights.
The cool breeze gently blew, pulling her thoughts away from Shannon’s passionate crush. Natalie crossed her arms tightly over her chest but didn’t close the window. A person as attractive as Shannon also hit a wall with Zane. Should she be grateful that she caught Zane’s attention?
It seemed like the problem circled back to the beginning.
Why on earth did Zane take a liking to her and agree to this arranged marriage? It couldn’t have been because she stormed into the bar to ask everyone there about him, nor because of her foolishness the first time they met when she stumbled flat on the ground.
Natalie lifted her hand to rub her temples, unable to comprehend. The chase between men and women had become unclear as to who the real pursuer was.
After standing outside for a while, Natalie’s lungs finally felt refreshed. Just as she was about to return to the room, a shout of verbal abuse reached her ears.
Natalie lazily glanced over, only to see a middle-aged man with a beer belly slap a frail woman who couldn’t even stand up.
In this chilly weather, the woman was only wearing a thin red dress.
"You unlucky creature, why did you follow us here?"
The woman’s hair was disheveled. She was so skinny that the slap knocked her down, causing her to crawl to the man’s feet, grabbing his pant leg, pleading desperately.
"President Warren, please, I just need a million, a million is enough. My mom is still lying in the hospital bed, please save her!"
The man called President Warren had his arm around another woman’s waist. Hearing this, the woman in his arms playfully slapped his chest with a coquettish smile.
"Darling, don’t let such a lowly woman tarnish our view."
President Warren patted the woman in his arms.
"You want money? Sure."
The woman’s eyes immediately brightened.
"Thank you, President Warren, thank you!"
"Tonight, there’s a party with President Young. Spend a few nights with him, and you’ll get your money. He’s been eyeing you for a long time, you’re quite entertaining."
The woman in the red dress began to tremble, violently shaking her head.
"No! President Warren! Please don’t send me to President Young, I’ll die, I really will!"
President Warren snorted, kicking the woman at his feet like garbage.
"If you want money, you don’t get to choose."
With that, he signaled to the bodyguards on the side. Two burly men in black suits stepped forward and grabbed the frail woman.
"No! President Warren! You can’t do this to me! I followed you for six years!"
"Don’t, don’t touch me! I don’t want to go to President Young!"
"President Warren, for the sake of all the time I’ve been with you, please let me go! I don’t want the money anymore!"
President Warren laughed and straightened his clothes.
"President Young is waiting for you upstairs. Isn’t it money you want? Use your skills to please President Young, and you’ll naturally get the money."
The woman’s tragic screams echoed through the lobby, but laughably, no one stepped in to intervene. The staff and manager pretended not to see or hear anything.
Perhaps it was the striking impression of the red dress, or maybe it was a sense of justice in her heart, but Natalie stepped forward and intervened.
"Let her go."
President Warren, a prominent figure in Veridia, didn’t expect anyone to mind his business. He looked over with unfriendly eyes and was taken aback to see Natalie.
"Young lady, I advise you not to meddle."
Natalie still had her makeup on from the conference. Even in the simplest sweater and jeans, her appearance and demeanor were striking enough.
President Warren’s words took a different turn.
"Young lady, this is a private matter. She’s just going to have a meal with a big boss. If you don’t believe it, you can come with us."
As he spoke, President Warren pushed away the woman leaning on his arm, pretending to straighten his clothes.
Natalie chuckled, unwilling to waste words with such a person.
"Sorry, I’m getting involved today."
With that, Natalie looked at the woman held by the bodyguards, frowning deeply.
"Tell your men to let her go."
Seeing that Natalie wasn’t listening to reason, President Warren’s face turned grim.
"Hmph, no one has ever dared take someone from me. Today, not only her but you’re coming with us too."
As soon as he said that, two more bodyguards started approaching Natalie.
Natalie was fed up with such boorish behavior from nouveau riche types. They always went around with bodyguards, afraid no one would know they had a little money or had any standing.
She had been out too long. If she didn’t return to the room, Zane would come looking for her.
Thinking of this, Natalie’s eyes flickered slightly, and she stretched her limbs. When a bodyguard tried to grab her, she blocked him outright.
Her waist was injured, so she didn’t use her legs. With just her fists, using the simplest moves, she took one of the bodyguards down.
President Warren never expected a girl to have such skills. She was something he had never encountered before, and a gleam appeared in his muddied eyes.
"Why are you standing around? All of you, grab her for me."
Natalie glanced around and realized this bald man had brought almost a whole team of bodyguards. Even though they looked all show and no substance, and she could handle them alone, her waist was inevitably going to be strained again.
Today she had picked a troublesome thing to get involved in.
"If you’re coming, hurry. I have things to do," she said.
Natalie habitually raised her hand to tie her hair up, only to realize she didn’t have a hair tie on her wrist today. So she fought as she was.
She was nimble, and the group of bodyguards couldn’t catch her. Her long hair swayed with her movements, tracing a sharp arc in the air.
Genevieve Joyce, who had rushed over after finishing her business, saw the scene in the lobby and was in a mood to spectate. How peculiar Veridia was that even in a high-end club, bodyguards would fight openly in the lobby, and the staff did nothing.
But after watching for about half a minute, Genevieve noticed something was off.
Wait a minute... That person being surrounded and attacked by seven or eight bodyguards looks a lot like the wife of his president!
Genevieve’s heart trembled as he stepped forward to confirm.
It really was the president’s wife!
Damn, damn, damn!
What was wrong with him today! The boss had barely arrived in Veridia, and he’d already made several mistakes throughout the day.
Genevieve hurried up.
"Stop it."
As the project director for GN Group in Veridia, Genevieve had met with many local government officials and business leaders over the past few months, and her face commanded authority in Veridia.
As she appeared, the club manager quickly rushed over.
"President Joyce, what brings you here?"
The bald man, though not a particularly prominent figure, had heard of President Joyce. Getting on good terms with someone from GN Group could elevate his status in Veridia.
Thinking this, President Warren quickly told the bodyguards to stop. He eagerly approached Genevieve, just about to greet her when he saw Genevieve walk straight to Natalie.
"Madam, are you alright?"
President Warren’s knees trembled.
Madam? Why was President Joyce calling this brash girl ’Madam’?
Natalie glanced at Genevieve without saying anything, breathing lightly, looking at the woman in red who had been released by the bodyguards. She was about to walk over.
When a man’s deep voice came from behind.
"What’s going on?"
Natalie froze in her tracks, closing her eyes in frustration. It’s over, she’d be scolded again. How was she going to appease Zane this time?
Headache.
