Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him
Chapter 124: How Could He Be the Only One Jealous?
CHAPTER 124: CHAPTER 124: HOW COULD HE BE THE ONLY ONE JEALOUS?
When Zane Thorne set off to go back, it was still before dawn. Natalie Vaughn was sleeping soundly, and Zane first left a goodbye kiss on her forehead, whispering a few words of advice.
But Natalie not only did not wake up, she even smacked Zane in the face for disturbing her.
Zane’s face instantly darkened, and without any further tenderness, he kissed her awake.
"You little heartless thing."
Natalie took a full two minutes to wake up from the kiss. However, she didn’t say anything nice; instead, she frowned and expressed her dissatisfaction with Zane’s behavior.
"I was having a beautiful dream, just about to eat a delicious leg of lamb."
Zane: ...
So a leg of lamb in a dream was better than him?
"Natalie!"
The man’s face was gloomy, with a frown of discontent. This time when he went back, he didn’t know when he would have time to come over again, and this little heartless girl showed not even a hint of reluctance?
Natalie let out a big yawn.
"What."
Zane gritted his teeth and lowered his head to bite her lip.
"Ow, are you a dog or what?"
The man was so exasperated that he straightened up, tossed his incessantly ringing phone aside, rolled up his sleeves, and clicked his tongue against his cheek.
"It’s not like I have to catch this flight."
Natalie blinked, noticing something was off, and reached out toward Zane.
"Hug me, hubby."
Zane stood with his hands on his hips, looking at Natalie’s little act, amused and exasperated. This heartless little girl was clueless about many things but adept at gauging the situation and pretending.
Even though he knew Natalie was pretending to be sweet, Zane found it impossible to stay mad at her. This feeling of not being able to vent his anger left him a bit frustrated, and he scratched at his brow.
"What’s more important, me or... a leg of lamb?"
After he spoke, Zane did not look pleased, as if he was angry at himself for having to compete with a dream lamb leg for affection.
"Of course, my dear hubby."
Natalie slightly tilted her head, blinking her eyes again.
Pretending to be innocent was her strong suit. Especially since she had just woken up, her eyes still drowsy, and her white sleep dress gave her a dazed, simple look that Zane found impossible to ignore.
He had no choice but to bend down and hold her as she wished, hugging her tightly for a while, and only let go when the phone automatically hung up on the second ring.
He pinched Natalie’s nose, still annoyed by her insensitivity, gritting his teeth.
"Do you really crave lamb that much?"
Natalie nodded.
"I want your roasted lamb."
Both of them fell silent for a moment, simultaneously recalling that evening.
That day, Zane had specially roasted a big, perfect leg of lamb for Natalie, but she just placed it neatly on the plate, not touching it at all.
Zane sighed, feeling a bit helpless.
"I’ll roast it for you when you get back."
Only then did Natalie slowly get up from the bed, actively hook her arms around Zane’s neck, and give him a kiss.
"Get going, if you don’t leave now, Genevieve will jump out of the phone."
Indeed, he had matters to attend to, Zane didn’t dawdle anymore, lowered his head and bit Natalie’s collarbone, repeating word for word what she had said yesterday.
"No flirting around."
Natalie agreed with a smile, and after sending Zane off, she didn’t go back to sleep. As she washed up, she looked at herself in the mirror, the bite mark on her collarbone quite obvious, yet Zane hadn’t actually put much force into it, so the mark would fade in a day or two.
If she remembered correctly, she had a scene with Julian Sutton today.
Good thing Zane left, or there’d be another Felix Langdon on the film set.
...
But even though Zane wasn’t physically there, he still managed to impact Natalie.
When Julian Sutton finished his line and was about to embrace Natalie, Zane’s face suddenly popped into Natalie’s mind, standing there with a gloomy expression, foot all set to kick the table.
Thinking this, Natalie suddenly burst out laughing.
Julian Sutton: ...
This take was, of course, a failure.
This scene was quite simple, and Julian was a bit curious, so he asked.
"What were you thinking about?"
Natalie didn’t hide it.
"If my husband was here, he would have wrecked the film set."
Upon hearing this, Julian Sutton slightly raised his eyebrows, remembering the scene he had shot with Quinn Langley a few days ago, which Felix Langdon interrupted time and again, and he thought of the man always standing by Natalie’s side.
Though he hadn’t dealt with that man, his possessiveness over Natalie was quite apparent, indeed like someone who would wreck a film set.
"So, did I offend two bigwigs at once?"
Natalie was somewhat surprised by Julian Sutton’s sudden humor; she had heard that Julian came from the south’s Sutton family and had ventured north to act, but for what reason, she didn’t know.
"Don’t worry, he went back today, he won’t find out."
Seeing the sparkle of intelligence and cunning in Natalie’s eyes, Julian Sutton slightly furrowed his brow.
If he remembered correctly, Natalie lived in Rivermark Apartments, and she was his neighbor. He also clearly remembered, before coming to Veridia, that night at Rivermark Apartments.
He was suffering from a cold and needed rest, yet there was constant noise from next door, and when he went over to remind them, he saw a man with an imposing presence.
He saw clearly, the man he suspected of having violent tendencies was Natalie’s husband. But looking at Natalie, she didn’t seem like someone who was treated that way.
"Are you... and your husband in a good relationship?"
Such a question, given Julian Sutton’s relationship with Natalie, was already intrusive. As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized it was inappropriate.
"Sorry, that was rude of me. I also live in Rivermark Apartments."
Natalie looked at him with some curiosity.
"I know."
She had met Julian Sutton at the local market.
"Ahem, one night I heard constant noise from next door, and I thought something was amiss with the owner."
Julian spoke obliquely, but coupled with his hesitant and somewhat awkward expression, a scene suddenly flashed in Natalie’s mind.
On the night they registered their marriage certificate, she was throwing a tantrum in the kitchen with Zane, seemingly someone had rung the doorbell then.
So that person was Julian Sutton?
Natalie’s mind worked quickly, seeing Julian’s hesitation and cautious appearance, she soon guessed what he was thinking.
She chuckled lightly.
"You wouldn’t think he’d hit me, would you?"
Julian Sutton’s face stiffened, as that was indeed what he thought. The Zane he saw that night was really quite fierce.
Natalie couldn’t help laughing seeing his expression.
"How could that be, if anyone gets hit, it would be me hitting him."
Zane would never have the heart to hit her.
Julian Sutton: ???????
He looked at Natalie with suspicion, as if evaluating the truthfulness of her words.
Natalie cleared her throat lightly.
"That night I was throwing a fit and smashed half the kitchen."
Julian Sutton: ...
"The Great Actor Sutton, don’t look at me with such a shocking expression."
Julian Sutton smiled helplessly.
"I guess my imagination was too wild."
He recalled how Natalie had previously gone viral online for single-handedly taking down five big guys in a bar.
Natalie didn’t think much of it; in fact, after chatting with Julian Sutton for a while, the barrier between them seemed to dissolve completely.
The legendary gentle Great Actor Sutton was actually quite amusing in private.
What Natalie didn’t know was that this brief conversation was photographed by someone with ulterior motives.
When Felix Langdon saw the photo after just finishing some business, he raised his eyebrows at the harmonious and warm scene in the picture.
How could he be the only one jealous of Julian Sutton? So after suppressing the media coverage, Felix turned around and sent the photo to Zane.
