CHAPTER 63: CHAPTER 63: THE LITTLE HAMSTER ZHAO MEIMEI

Zhao Meimei giggled twice, her face red, sneaking a glance at her Brother Yangyang’s expression.

Shi Yang had a playful look as he eyed Zhao Meimei: "Tell me, how many in your class have a crush on you? Judging by your expression, someone confessed, right?"

Rarely shy, Zhao Meimei said softly: "It’s not really a confession, just our class sports committee asked me to fill out the classmate record, and my desk mate said he has a crush on me."

Shi Yang coughed: "How did your desk mate know?"

Zhao Meimei shrugged: "He said the class sports committee always sneaks glances at me during class."

Shi Yang wanted to laugh but held it in: "So did he end up glancing at you or not?"

Zhao Meimei spoke truthfully: "Ever since I found out, I haven’t dared to turn my head during class."

Shi Yang: "Why not?"

Zhao Meimei squinted: "Think about it, what if I turn around, and he’s really looking at me? That’d be so awkward!"

Shi Yang asked amusedly: "He’s got a crush on you, what’s there to be embarrassed about?"

Zhao Meimei giggled: "I don’t know, I just feel super shy."

After saying this, Zhao Meimei’s black shiny eyes turned, looking at Shi Yang, and asked: "Brother, aren’t you embarrassed if there are girls with crushes on you at your school?"

Shi Yang casually replied: "Why be embarrassed? If they don’t confess, I just pretend I don’t know."

Zhao Meimei lowered her eyelids and glanced sideways at her Brother Yangyang.

Since Shi Yang started university, he’s changed completely. He was always great at styling himself, buying clothes that were both fashionable and good-looking, matching them into sets that perfectly highlighted his personal advantages. With broad shoulders, a perky rear, and long legs drawn out like this, wherever he stood, he seemed to come with self-perpetuated lighting effects, particularly striking.

For such a young and handsome guy like Shi Yang, in a university campus oozing with hormones, how could there not be girls around him?

A subtle expression showed in Zhao Meimei’s eyes, testingly asking: "So how many people in your class have a crush on you? Someone must have confessed, right?"

Shi Yang: "This is me asking you. Don’t go prying into my business."

Zhao Meimei muttered: "You’re just feeling guilty, can you honestly say there aren’t girls in your class crushing on you?"

Shi Yang laughed: "Why would I feel guilty about that!"

Zhao Meimei blinked her narrow eyelids and coldly snorted: "Are you hiding behind my back, finding yourself a little girlfriend outside?"

Zhao Meimei propped both her legs on the sofa, feeling a bit upset, a hard-to-describe feeling, not leaning against Shi Yang anymore, hugging her knees, pressing her chin on top, her eyes defiant, glancing sideways.

Shi Yang raised an eyebrow, looking at Zhao Meimei’s resentful little look, both annoyed and amused, finally softening, explained: "That’s not it, I’m so busy every day I feel like I’m dying, where would I find the time, and anyway, there are very few girls in our computer science department, they’re all confined in the management department."

Shi Yang is now in his second year, he quite enjoys studying computer science, and now with a few classmates, they’re researching software development together.

Everyone gathers, their minds quite expansive with plenty of ideas, just lacking in breadth of knowledge, several of them enthusiastically learning related knowledge.

In class, they chase after the teacher asking questions, after class dive into the library, and once they find relevant materials, they rush them back to the dormitory, having underground meetings like a secret party, closing the door and tinkering in the dorm.

There are indeed girls at school who like Shi Yang and have confessed to him. Shi Yang had previously taken a fancy to one, she was fair and clean, quite pretty, just a bit feisty.

In the beginning when they first met, they didn’t really know each other, and the girl acted very gentle.

The two agreed to have a meal together, but Shi Yang was absorbed with a friend researching software, forgetting about the girl and neglecting her completely.

The girl called Shi Yang in the evening, but the dorm phone was unreachable, and Shi Yang’s phone was busy. Ever since Shi Yang started university, he’s been consistently chatting with Zhao Meimei on the phone every night, without fail. When Zhao Meimei calls, he hurriedly rushes back, afraid she’d be anxious, often approaching call time, he’d prepare his phone in hand, ready to call at any moment.

The girl got mad, revealing her feisty side, blocked the entrance to the computer science building, grabbed Shi Yang and questioned: "What do you mean? Are you trying to dump me?"

Shi Yang wasn’t particularly into her, and being confronted by her in front of so many classmates, feeling embarrassed, a bit angry, he swung his arm and pulled away from the girl impatiently nodded: "Yeah, that’s right, want to dump you."

The girl started crying then, shouted at Shi Yang: "Shi Yang! You’re a jerk! Our department has loads of people chasing me! Now I see you’re just playing me!"

Shi Yang shielded half his face with his hand, his brow tied into a knot, the surrounding passing classmates quite curious, craning their necks to watch the drama unfold, all happening to be his drama, and Shi Yang’s thin skin couldn’t handle it any longer, without saying a word, he turned and left.

Shi Yang felt awkward momentarily, but quickly pushed it to the back of his mind, completely without any sense of heartbreak, continuing busily studying software development with his roommates, punctually calling Zhao Meimei every night.

At the end of the day, the fact is he didn’t really like her enough, never truly put her in his heart, and anyway, there are plenty of people chasing Shi Yang, does he care about this?

That day Zhao Meimei lingered around Shi Yang until evening before going home, reluctant to part, saying emotional goodbyes, Shi Yang eventually threw on his down jacket and escorted Zhao Meimei inside her home, only returning home after being urged by Liu Xiue to drink a cup of hot milk for warmth, going to sleep.

Once Shi Yang was back, Zhao Meimei’s eyes couldn’t fit anyone else, sticking to him like a little shadow every day.

Zhao Meimei was very considerate towards Shi Yang. Whenever her mom made something tasty, she’d quickly pick out the best parts, hurriedly pack them up, and rush them to Shi Yang’s house.

Watching this, Zhao Dazhuang grumbled at the back: "Wow, guess it’s true that a married daughter is like water spilled! All the good stuff in the house is being taken away."

Liu Xiue couldn’t help but laugh: "What are you mumbling about? Your daughter is only in sixth grade, who’s she marrying?"

Zhao Dazhuang complained sourly to Liu Xiue: "Is she really my own daughter? She’s never been this considerate towards me!"

Liu Xiue laughed and poked Zhao Dazhuang’s forehead: "Just looking at the two of you with shiny bald spots, I knew back in the hospital we hadn’t got the wrong child, she’s definitely your offspring."

Zhao Dazhuang’s eyes crinkled as he theorized: "It must have been the zodiac check that went wrong at birth, with our girl’s temperament, she’s obviously a hamster!"

Liu Xiue was amused and annoyed: "Yeah, your daughter’s a hamster, and you’re a big rat spirit. Okay, big rat spirit, stop sighing and hurry up to wash your hands, come gnaw at some big bones to grind your two big front teeth."

Zhao Dazhuang got up, talking as he walked to the bathroom, joking around: "What grind for, I’ll mold you a set of mahjong tiles, weren’t you always wanting to learn?"

Liu Xiue was exasperated and amused: "You nut! I’ve never seen anyone trash-talk themselves like you!"
