CHAPTER 11: CHAPTER 11: LITTLE SISTER, DON’T TELL ME YOU’RE AFRAID?

The phrase "ugly freak" hadn’t even been fully spoken when they saw a young girl slowly descending from the second floor.

She wore a light-colored dress, her long, seaweed-like hair casually draped over her shoulders, making her already palm-sized face appear even smaller. Paired with her delicate features, she was so beautiful that no one present could take their eyes off her.

"So beautiful..."

"Is this the Everett Family’s long-lost daughter? With such bearing, she doesn’t seem like someone who grew up in the countryside."

"Exactly, exactly! She looks like she outshines Cassia Everett, whom the Everett Family has painstakingly nurtured!"

Hearing the banquet hall filled with praises for Serena Everett, Cassia’s face immediately fell, her jealous gaze landing on Serena’s exquisite porcelain-white face.

Had she known, she would’ve done something to ruin that wretched girl’s face!

The debutantes recalled what they had previously said and felt as if they were invisibly slapped, their faces burning and stinging.

"Everyone, this is our precious daughter we’ve found!"

Serena let them lead her onto the stage, her exceptionally beautiful fox-like eyes showing no emotion.

She didn’t like such occasions, but she cooperated with them out of reluctance to disappoint them.

Seeing Serena being surrounded by Jocelyn and Ivan, Cassia found it particularly glaring.

She bit her lip and followed them onto the stage, inserting herself in the middle, smiling as she spoke, "Our family is finally reunited! To celebrate, I’ve specially prepared a piece for everyone. I hope you enjoy it!"

As soon as these words fell, the guests in the banquet hall started discussing again.

"I didn’t expect the Everett Family’s Sixth Miss to be able to play the piano! Wasn’t it said she grew up in the countryside?"

"Yes, yes, it’s surprising that growing up in the countryside, she’s still able to play the piano!"

Serena met Cassia’s provocative gaze without any change in expression. Her eyes fell on the piano and, at a glance, she could tell it had been tampered with.

She slightly curled her red lips, forming a cold arc at Cassia.

Since she likes these petty tricks, today she’ll play along...

"Cassia, aren’t you going to perform a duet with Serena?" Jocelyn asked, puzzled.

"Today’s banquet is held for my sister. The first piece, it naturally should be played by her first," Cassia replied with a perfectly timed smile, but her gaze was venomous, "I’ll play a duet with her for the second piece."

Listening to Cassia’s obedient and sensible words, Ivan and Jocelyn felt deeply gratified, and praised her one after another.

"Cassia, you’re such a considerate child!"

Cassia’s cheeks bloomed with a sweet smile, looking harmless, but inside, she let out a heavy cold snort.

She admitted Serena’s skill was above hers, but the piano on stage had already been tampered with, no matter how good her skill was, it was useless. She was just waiting for her to make a fool of herself!

Once Serena had embarrassed herself thoroughly and the servants brought a new piano, she’d perform on stage. With a stark contrast, everyone would soon see that Serena was nowhere as good as her!

Serena slowly sat in front of the piano, the light fell on her exquisite porcelain-white profile, as beautiful as an oil painting.

The gaze of everyone present couldn’t help but fall on her, holding their breath, waiting quietly.

Cassia was also eagerly anticipating Serena’s disgrace on the stage, becoming the laughing stock of the day!

...

A white Porsche came to a steady stop in front of the Everett Family’s residence.

"It’s all your fault for stopping me from leaving the hospital, that’s why I’m late!"

Old Mrs. Quinn got out of the car, with Chase Sherman standing respectfully by her side, holding the car door for her.

"Where’s Damian? Why hasn’t he arrived yet?"

Hearing this, Chase immediately showed a troubled expression, carefully speaking, "Old Madam, Master Damian asked me to take you here first..."

Before he could finish, Old Mrs. Quinn interrupted, "Don’t beat around the bush with me! Where’s Damian? Where has he gone? It’s his fiancée’s party today, he can’t not show up!"

Chase could only answer helplessly, "Old Madam, Master Damian had something important to deal with today, he can’t make it..."

"What could be more important than his fiancée?" Old Mrs. Quinn huffed angrily, "I don’t care, tell him to get here immediately! I’m going inside first, but relay to him that he must come!"

With that, Old Mrs. Quinn strode towards the Everett Family’s home, nervously tidying her clothes, yet unable to hide the smile on her face.

She was just about to meet her granddaughter-in-law, and there was a little excitement in her heart!

Upon entering the banquet hall, Old Mrs. Quinn immediately heard a melodious piano sound, as if listening to celestial music.

Old Mrs. Quinn, like everyone present, couldn’t help but become immersed in it, temporarily forgetting about finding her granddaughter-in-law.

Everyone was entranced, except Cassia’s face turned deathly pale.

How could this be?!

The piano had clearly been tampered with, yet Serena not only played without any issues, she played so well!

Just as everyone was lost in the music, Serena suddenly stopped playing and looked down towards Cassia with her clear, upturned fox-like eyes, indifferent.

"Sister, this piece is a duet, why not play it together?"

As these words fell, everyone’s eyes instantly turned to Cassia, leaving her unable to utter a word of refusal.

If she refused to go on stage now, she would be seen as inferior to Serena by everyone. But if she went on stage...

"Sister, you’re not afraid, are you?"

Serena’s cold voice rang out leisurely, her tone innocent, yet incredibly infuriating.

Cassia was immediately provoked to stride onto the stage, her gaze was vicious, but her face wore a smile, "Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to embarrass myself!"

"Good, good, good, I’m really looking forward to it!"

"Cassia Everett was this year’s first prize winner in the piano competition, her skills definitely won’t be lacking!"

Because Cassia had been boasting after winning the piano contest, everyone had high expectations for her performance.

The piano, having been tampered with, made Cassia’s playing particularly strenuous, and coupled with the difficulty of the piece, she couldn’t keep up with Serena’s tempo, frequently hitting wrong notes.

Whether in technique, rhythm, or sound, Serena completely outshone her, losing utterly and miserably.

The audience, having had such high expectations, were now equally disappointed, unable to help but express their discontent.

"What’s going on, what is Cassia playing?"

"Yes, yes, it’s simply underwhelming. Could it be that her first place in the piano competition is overblown?"

"It must have been exaggerated, with such a level to win first place, it’s really laughable!"
