CHAPTER 14: CHAPTER 14: NOW YOU FIND HIM AN EYESORE, HUH!
Half an hour later, they arrived at The Imperia Research Institute.
Serena Everett stepped out of the car with her long, straight legs. At the entrance of the research institute, people had been waiting for her, and upon seeing her, they rushed up as if they’d seen a savior.
"Serena, you finally came! I’ve been waiting for you for so long, do you know that?"
Serena replied in a casual tone, "Take me inside first."
"Sure, sure, Serena, follow me!"
Seeing that Serena wasn’t turned away but was instead respectfully invited in, Chase Sherman couldn’t control his facial expression in astonishment.
"Master Damian, that is Academician Miller of the research institute, a highly respected elder with both status and authority."
It’s really surprising that such a respected elder would treat a young woman so respectfully!
Damian Quinn’s captivating almond-shaped eyes narrowed slightly as he chuckled in a low voice.
The young lady is even more impressive than he imagined...
Chase Sherman spoke uneasily, "Master Damian, should I go and check her identity?"
Upon hearing this, Damian Quinn refused without hesitation, "No need."
If the young lady knew he secretly investigated her, she probably wouldn’t bother with him anymore in the future.
Besides, he had plenty of time, waiting until she wanted to tell him herself.
In the laboratory.
Serena was already wearing her lab coat, a mask covering her face, showing only her beautiful, fox-like eyes, as she walked into the lab with Academician Miller.
"Serena, the chip is severely damaged. Only you can fix it..."
Serena focused on the damaged chip on the lab table, frowned slightly, "Leave it to me, all of you leave."
"Alright, alright, everyone leave, don’t disturb Serena!"
Dean Miller was extremely cooperative since he knew better than anyone the difficulty of repairing the chip without interruptions.
"Yes!"
Everyone in the lab obediently left the laboratory, waiting outside while holding their breath as they watched Serena work.
As time passed, the admiration in everyone’s eyes for Serena grew deeper.
Two hours later, Serena emerged from the lab, took off her lab coat, and rubbed her brow with her white fingertips.
"Serena, you’ve worked so hard!"
Academician Miller immediately offered her milk with a straw already inserted.
Serena took the milk, sipped it with her typical casual tone, "I’ve fixed the chip’s damage, research can continue."
"That’s great, that’s great!" Hearing this, Dean Miller finally relaxed, then smiled brightly at her, "Serena, our research institute can’t do without you! So, Serena, would you consider..."
"No." Serena didn’t wait for him to finish, knowing his intentions, she promptly refused.
She had no plans to take on apprentices now; she was very busy!
"Oh, Serena, don’t rush to refuse..."
Academician Miller quickly showed a pitiful expression, while Serena’s beautiful brows lazily raised, she casually reminded him and changed the subject, "Grandpa Miller, your phone’s ringing."
"Oh my, it really is!"
As he answered the video call, Serena took the opportunity to slip away. By the time Academician Miller realized, she had already gone far.
"Oh, what a shame, I let the girl slip away again!" Dean Miller sighed regretfully, then said to the man on the video call, "My student, that was the talented young lady I often mentioned!"
Bianca Everett on the video recalled the side profile she had inadvertently seen earlier, finding it somewhat familiar...
She felt surprise more than anything; the young lady seemed younger than her, yet was so outstanding.
"Bianca, I heard you’re coming back to the country soon, right?"
Upon his inquiry, Bianca Everett collected her thoughts and nodded in response, "Yes, teacher, my sister, who had been missing for many years, was found, so I must return home."
"Finding family is always good news!" Dean Miller nodded with a smile, "Perfect timing, hurry back to Imperia, I’ll introduce you!"
"Okay, teacher."
...
"Kiddo, over here."
Upon stepping out of the research institute, Serena heard a familiar voice. She looked up to see a man standing under the streetlamp, a tempting smile on his alluringly handsome face.
Serena rarely revealed an expression of surprise; she’d spent two hours in the laboratory, yet he was still waiting here...
Damian Quinn noted the milk in her hand and remembered it, then smiled at her again.
"Kiddo, it’s time for you to fulfill your promise to treat me to a meal."
Just what she wanted; Serena didn’t hesitate before agreeing, "Alright!"
Hadn’t their Master Damian already had dinner...? Chase Sherman frowned in doubt, suddenly realizing that Master Damian was concerned for this young lady!
They smoothly arrived at The Cheney Banquet Hall, a high-end private dining establishment extremely hard to reserve.
Knowing the young lady disliked being watched, Damian Quinn specifically arranged the quietest private room.
After asking about the young lady’s taste, Damian Quinn ordered a large table full of dishes, all favorites of Serena Everett.
Damian Quinn accompanied her during the meal but ate little, mostly watching her eat and plating dishes for her.
Passing by, Seth Sterling happened to witness this scene and found instant interest, arrogantly raising his eyebrows before striding over.
"Master Damian, who is this young lady?"
Seth Sterling’s gaze shifted between the two of them, his eyes playful.
It was the first time he saw their usually cold and ruthless Master Damian show such tenderness...
And he was dining with her personally, which he never received!
Upon seeing him, Damian Quinn’s deep, narrow almond eyes slightly narrowed, casting a cold glance suggesting he leave.
Feeling unwanted now, wasn’t he?
Seth Sterling shook his head sadly; their Master Damian truly was forgetting his friends for a pretty face!
Hmph, today, he refused to leave! He stubbornly decided to stay!
Seeing Seth Sterling determined to stay, Damian Quinn watched him with a smile, his thin lips forming a dangerous curve.
Very well.
Soon, he’d send this annoying thing off to Africa!
Seth Sterling felt a sudden chill on his back, sensing that trouble might be coming his way...
The phone on the table emitted a sudden ring; seeing the caller display — Grandma, Damian Quinn’s cool eyes showed a hint of helplessness.
No need to answer; he knew exactly why Grandma was calling.
Then, Damian Quinn’s gentle gaze fell on Serena, and he softly spoke to her.
"I’ll take a call; I’ll be back shortly. Enjoy your meal."
