CHAPTER 3: CHAPTER 3: THINK YOU CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME AND JUST LEAVE?

"Damn it, catch up! Don’t let them get away!..."

A shadow darted out from the compartment. Serena Everett tucked the chip back into her bosom, her delicate porcelain-white face devoid of any expression.

"Boss, head in the direction of your left hand. The people from The Scorpions are about to catch up."

Jude Ford’s urgent voice crackled through the earphones. Serena’s eyes, under her long, dense lashes, were cold as she unhesitatingly ran left.

The chip in The Scorpions’ possession had been painstakingly developed by Engineer Hart before his death. It later ended up on the black market. Her team was a step too late, or else The Scorpions wouldn’t have gotten hold of it at all.

The Scorpions planned to sell the chip to foreign powers for profit, but if they succeeded, it would only make chip manufacturing in Celestia more difficult.

So, she snatched the chip back, and it would only be at its greatest use in her hands.

Her plan was a success, smoothly acquiring the chip. However, The Scorpions were relentless in pursuing her, unwilling to let the chip be taken so easily.

"It’s a dead end ahead."

Her fox-like eyes narrowed slightly in the cold.

"Ah, what...?" Jude Ford’s panicked voice came from the earphones. "How could it be a dead end? That’s impossible?!"

One is not afraid of a god-like opponent, only of teammates like pigs.

Serena’s tongue gently pressed against her molars, clicking her tongue lightly.

Tsk, she suddenly had a itch to punch someone!

It was too late to head in the other direction. Without hesitation, she took off her coat, and hat, tossing them into the trash bin, and let her long hair down from its tie.

Her seaweed-like long hair draped casually over her shoulders, accentuating her striking and exquisite features.

"She’s right ahead, quick, catch her, don’t let her get away..."

Listening to the shouts closing in from behind, Serena’s icy gaze fell on the man not far ahead.

The man leaned lazily against the railing, his collar tugged open, tie askew, and yet he exuded a peculiar, unexplainable allure.

With The Scorpions’ shouts getting closer, Serena had no time to waste, quickly approaching him.

Upon hearing footsteps getting closer to him, Damian Quinn’s gaze darkened, wondering who dared to approach.

"Help me."

The girl’s cold, alluring voice rang out.

It was her!

Recognizing her as the girl from the door earlier, Damian’s irritation at being disturbed disappeared, his captivating dark eyes curiously intrigued.

"What help do you need?"

So long as the girl’s request wasn’t excessive, he was willing to help.

Serena spoke no more, her pale arms wrapping around his neck, rising on her tiptoes.

The next moment, her rosy lips moved to meet his.

Damian’s eyes instantly deepened, his Adam’s apple bobbing visibly.

Just as her lips were about to touch his, she pressed her thumb against his lips, keeping them apart.

Damian couldn’t quite describe his feelings, his Adam’s apple moved again at the unexpected flutter, thinking she would really kiss him.

His gaze deepened further, unbelievable that he had been swayed by a mere girl...

"Where did she disappear to..."

The Scorpions, having rushed forward, found the two locked in what seemed like an intimate embrace, akin to lovers deep in passion.

The Scorpions’ eyes flickered with suspicion as they attempted to check further...

The man’s sharp, icy gaze swept over them, eyes filled with displeasure at being interrupted, instilling fear.

A mere glance held them in place.

The Scorpions felt a chill run from their feet to their head, not daring to step forward.

Those in the private boxes of The Elysian Summit were all important figures, not ones they dared to offend...

"She’s not here, go chase the other direction!"

As The Scorpions headed off in another direction, Serena blinked her eyes with long, curled lashes, withdrew her arm from around his neck, and stepped back to create distance.

"Thanks."

In a detached tone, she tossed the acknowledgment over her shoulder and turned to leave with her long, straight legs, only to be pulled back by a pair of large hands as she took a step forward.

"Taking advantage of me and just leaving?"

The man’s deep, magnetic voice tingled in her ears, an inexplicably teasing allure.

"Is there such a good deal?"

Was he asking for a benefit?

Serena rummaged through her pockets, ready to offer him some money, only to remember she had nothing on her but the chip.

The girl wanted to pay him off with money?

Seeing through her intent, Damian took out his phone, held it up to her, lips curling, letting out a low laugh, bewitching and enticing.

"I don’t want money. Leave your contact, and treating me to a meal will do."

Was he like a male fox spirit or something...

Serena collected her gaze; she disliked owing favors, so she took his phone and left her number.

"Can I go now?"

Returning the phone to him, her stunning fox-like eyes were devoid of emotion.

"Of course."

The man’s voice, lazy and magnetic, carried a smile, bewitching and teasing.

"See you next time, little one."

It wasn’t until Serena had walked far off that Damian withdrew his gaze, a faint smile on his thin lips, looking rather satisfied.

Witnessing everything, Chase Sherman walked out from the shadows, unable to resist his curiosity, "Master Damian, you didn’t need to play along with that girl just now at all..."

Given Master Damian’s status, he could’ve easily shielded the girl, The Scorpions wouldn’t dare touch her.

And wasn’t Master Damian known for his severe germophobia?

How could he tolerate such close contact with that girl from not long ago?

As Chase pondered in confusion, Damian’s leisurely, smiling voice sounded slowly.

"Hmm, I did it on purpose."

...

"Boss, are you alright?"

As soon as Serena exited the door of The Elysian Pavilion, Jude Ford hurriedly ran out of the car, scrutinizing her for injuries before sighing with relief.

"Boss, thank goodness you’re okay. I was about to call the brothers to come save you! Waaah, boss, it’s all my fault, I got the location wrong..."

"No next time."

Jude nodded vigorously, "Boss, I promise there won’t be a next time!"

Serena said no more, taking the chip out from her bosom and tossing it to him.

"Take it to the lab and have them study it."

Jude clumsily caught the chip, knowing full well its immense value, worth over hundreds of millions; naturally, he handled it with utmost care.

"Boss, aren’t you joining the research? The old heads at the research institute keep talking about wishing to meet you, even hoping you could guide them, and if you’re involved, the success rate would certainly be higher."

"I’ll visit the lab when I have time." Serena spoke nonchalantly, as her phone received a friend request notification.

Very few knew her private number, and it was clear who the new WeChat friend request was from.
