CHAPTER 5: CHAPTER 5: SAVE OUR OLD MADAM...

In the center of the living room stood a piano, and Serena Everett walked over slowly.

Cassia Everett watched her with a cold gaze, her eyes full of disdain, clearly waiting to see a joke.

She dared to play without sheet music; it’s laughable!

Even she couldn’t play well without sheet music, let alone Serena, who’s never even seen a piano before!

But in the next moment, the smug smile on Cassia’s face froze.

The living room resonated with piano music as heavenly as nature itself. Serena’s fair fingertips danced lightly over the keys, effortlessly completing a short piano piece.

From that brief performance, Cassia could immediately tell that Serena’s level far surpassed hers...

How was this possible?

She played so well even without sheet music?!

Cassia’s face turned pale instantly, unable to accept this fact. All the mocking words she’d said were now like invisible slaps to her own face.

"Serena, that was wonderful!"

"I didn’t expect our Serena to have such a talent for music!"

Jocelyn Sterling and Ivan Everett spoke with surprise and joy, unable to contain their pride, praising Serena continuously.

No wonder she’s their precious daughter; she truly is amazing!

At the same time, they noticed Cassia’s upset expression and quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

"Serena, your mom and I plan to throw a grand party to announce your identity. Cassia, you and Serena can perform a piece together at the party! You two sisters playing together will surely captivate the audience!"

Cassia’s expression became even more unsightly. They were going to throw a party for Serena?

They’d never held a party for her! Indeed, with their biological daughter back, she would have no standing in this family!

But soon, Cassia adjusted her negative emotions, smiling sweetly as she spoke, "That’s wonderful. I’m really happy to perform with my sister!"

Just wait and see. She wouldn’t let Serena have an easy time at the party!

Hearing this, Jocelyn and Ivan nodded with relief, "It’s great that you two can get along like real sisters!"

"By the way, Serena, your mother will take you to pick out a dress for the party. Our Serena is so beautiful; she’ll look stunning in a gown!"

Jocelyn looked at Serena with a gentle, doting gaze, which Cassia found incredibly glaring. She immediately spoke up.

"Auntie, I’d like to go and help my sister pick out a dress too! My sister grew up in the countryside and hasn’t worn a gown before. I can teach her!"

Jocelyn felt uncomfortable hearing this, but seeing Cassia’s seemingly kind appearance, she could only comfort herself, thinking she was overthinking it.

"Alright, Cassia, you can go too. You can both pick out dresses together. You’re both my beloved children! Cassia, Serena has returned, but your uncle and I still love you as a daughter!"

Ha!

Cassia sneered inwardly, it’s all lies!

Ever since Serena’s return, all their love had gone to her. Saying they love her as a daughter was just deceit!

No matter what she felt inside, Cassia donned a sweet smile, "Auntie, I know how good you and Uncle are to me. I’ll get along well with my sister, and we’ll be filial to you both!"

"That’s great! It’s a relief for your uncle and me!" Jocelyn said with a smile, patting her hand gently.

Cassia seized the opportunity to affectionately link arms with her, her gaze provocatively landing on Serena.

So what if she’s Jocelyn and Ivan’s biological daughter?

She had been the child they raised for 18 years, and those feelings couldn’t be matched by her. She would find a way to drive this country bumpkin out of the Everett Family, making the family’s attention and love solely hers again!

...

Along the way, Cassia clung to Jocelyn and Ivan. Whenever they wanted to speak to Serena, she interrupted and diverted their attention.

Serena, unwilling to fuss over her petty tricks, strode out on her long, straight legs, intending to get some fresh air.

"Help... Can someone help... Save our old lady..."

A well-dressed, white-haired old lady lay unconscious on the ground, her accompanying servant helplessly holding her, continuously pleading for help from those around.

Yet, the onlookers didn’t dare approach, clearly wary of being scammed.

Serena immediately realized the old lady had a sudden heart condition. Without timely treatment, her life could be in danger.

Her grandmother had also passed away due to a sudden heart condition...

Serena pursed her red lips tightly, took out silver needles from her pocket, and walked on those long, straight legs toward the unconscious old lady on the ground.

"Hey, young girl, don’t go over there. What if she’s trying to scam you?"

"Yeah, what if she’s scamming? You couldn’t afford that!"

"Exactly, young girl, don’t go. We’ve already called 120, and they’ll be here soon..."

"Disperse."

Serena lifted her incredibly beautiful fox-like eyes to look at them. Her voice was calm, yet it carried an undeniable authority.

Even though she was just a young girl, she possessed an inexplicable force that inspired trust. The crowd instinctively stepped back, making way for her.

Without further delay, Serena pinched a silver needle with her fair fingertips and prepared to administer acupuncture to the old lady.

"What are you going to do?"

The servant was startled, quickly stopping her.

Serena’s beautiful, fox-like eyes remained calm as she spoke, "She doesn’t have much time left. If we don’t treat her soon, it will be too late."

The servant shook her head frantically, "No, no, you’re just a young girl. What do you know about medical skills? What if you harm our old lady?"

"If I can’t cure her, I’ll take full responsibility."

The servant wanted to say more, but seeing Old Mrs. Quinn’s face growing more and more purple, she gritted her teeth, deciding to gamble.

"Young girl, please, you must make sure nothing happens to our old lady!"

"Leave it to me."

Serena said no more, pinching the silver needle to start the acupuncture. Her movements were fluid and smooth, unexpectedly pleasing to the eye.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Old Mrs. Quinn coughed heavily a few times, slowly regaining consciousness. Upon opening her eyes, she saw Serena, her gaze flashing with amazement as she spoke in a daze.

"Where did such a beautiful little fairy come from? Am I in heaven?!"

"Oh dear, I haven’t seen my ungrateful grandson marry and have children yet. I still want to hold my great-grandchild..."

"Ma’am, you’re alive and well. Don’t say such ominous things!" The servant hurriedly interrupted Old Mrs. Quinn’s lamenting awkwardly, "It was this young girl who saved you!"

"Oh, that’s wonderful, wonderful. I’m not gone yet!" Old Mrs. Quinn breathed a sigh of relief, coming back to her senses and looking at Serena with a kind smile, "Young girl, I’m so grateful to you. Thanks to you, I still have the chance to hold my great-grandchild. You’re truly my great benefactor!"
