Chapter 7: All the Billions at Home Belong to Her
CHAPTER 7: CHAPTER 7: ALL THE BILLIONS AT HOME BELONG TO HER
While everyone’s attention was on Serena, Cassia Everett immediately gave the store manager a look. She immediately understood and secretly slipped a woman’s wristwatch into Serena’s backpack that had been placed on the sofa earlier.
Seeing all of this, Cassia’s lips curled into a cold smile. As long as she pins the crime of theft on her, Serena’s reputation in Imperia will be utterly destroyed!
"Not only did you injure our employee, but you also stole something from our store. This is simply outrageous!"
The store manager picked up the backpack and showed the wristwatch inside to everyone, speaking angrily.
Cassia bit her lip, her pure face showing an expression of shock and disappointment.
"Sister, how could you do such a thing? I know you grew up in the countryside and haven’t seen much of the world, but you can’t steal things!"
Those words made everyone present look down on Serena even more.
"Turns out she’s a bumpkin from the countryside, no wonder she’s so unkempt!"
"Exactly, exactly, go back to the countryside; Imperia doesn’t welcome you!"
"That’s right, go back to the countryside..."
The store manager’s attitude was even more arrogant, pointing at Serena’s nose and cursing, "This is a high-end brand store. If you don’t have money, then don’t come in. This is not a place for a pauper like you!"
"Who are you calling poor?!"
Hearing the commotion, Jocelyn Sterling walked out of the fitting room, furious, and confronted her directly.
"What kind of rotten store are you that you treat customers like this?!"
Seeing Jocelyn, the store manager’s expression changed instantly, fawning and flattering as she spoke, "Mrs. Everett, you’ve misunderstood. Our store’s philosophy is that the customer is God. But she not only injured our employee, she also stole things from our store. A person with such a bad character must be severely punished..."
"Shut up!" Jocelyn was increasingly furious, "Stop talking nonsense here. What does my Serena not have at home? She doesn’t need to steal your junk!"
If Serena wanted, all the family’s billions could be hers!
The store manager was rendered speechless by Jocelyn’s retort, but she immediately received a warning look from Cassia, prompting her to speak again.
"Mrs. Everett, I’m really not talking nonsense; she injured our employee and stole from the store. Everyone saw it!"
"That’s right, that’s right, we all saw it!" The crowd nodded in agreement.
Cassia’s eyes showed even more pride, but she spoke as though she was looking out for Serena, "Sister, as long as you sincerely apologize and admit your mistake, everyone will forgive you!"
She was determined to pin the label of "thief" on Serena, that vile woman!
"Cassia, what are you saying?" For the first time, Jocelyn spoke harshly to her, "Serena could never steal anything; she doesn’t need to apologize!"
With those words, Jocelyn turned to comfort Serena softly, "Serena, don’t be afraid. Mom is here for you!"
A wave of warmth surged in Serena’s heart, and the chill in her delicate eyes dissipated slightly.
Seeing Jocelyn protect Serena like this, Cassia’s unwillingness deepened, but she said, "Aunt, you’re right. I was too worried that sister might say something wrong. I also believe sister wouldn’t steal anything. Why don’t we check the surveillance footage? Then we’ll know what really happened!"
The store manager had already been bribed by her, and the surveillance footage was in their hands. They could edit it however they pleased.
"Yes, yes, Mrs. Everett, we’ll check the surveillance footage for you now!"
The store manager immediately understood and ran to the computer to pull up the surveillance footage.
The footage showing the staff causing trouble was completely deleted, leaving only the scene of Serena taking action.
"Look, look, she sprayed disinfectant into someone’s eyes. This girl has such a wicked heart!"
"Yes, yes, stealing and hitting people, she’s just too wicked!"
Despite hearing the crowd’s slander, Serena’s emotions remained unchanged. She spoke calmly, "This video has been tampered with."
"How could there be anything wrong?!" The store manager argued guiltily, "Everyone is watching, don’t talk nonsense!"
"You’ve edited it."
With those words, Serena didn’t bother wasting words with them, but walked straight to the computer. The store manager, feeling guilty, tried to stop her, but was scared off by her glance.
How could a bumpkin from the countryside have such a strong aura...
Serena’s eyes fell on the computer, her white fingers quickly tapping the keyboard.
Seeing this, Cassia disdained with a cold smile.
Under her instructions, the store manager and the others had already deleted those clips; it was absolutely impossible for Serena to restore those deleted surveillance videos!
"Sister, you grew up in the countryside and rarely had the chance to use computers; you’d better not mess around, or it’ll be bad if you break it..."
Before Cassia’s mocking words were finished, Serena withdrew her hand, her tone calm.
"It’s done."
The deleted footage was fully restored, automatically playing, and the store manager and the others turned pale, panicking.
The video clearly showed that it was the employees who were rude, trying to spray disinfectant into Serena’s eyes, and Serena taught them a lesson in return.
The theft was even more nonexistent; the surveillance clearly captured the store manager placing the watch into Serena’s backpack, deliberately framing her.
"Oh my god, this is the truth; we’ve wronged this girl!"
"I didn’t expect your store to be so shameless, falsely accusing the girl! It’s disgusting, and I’ll never step into this store again!"
"That’s right, we won’t either..."
The crowd suddenly realized they had been used as pawns; the pity they once held now turned into intense anger in their hearts.
The store manager and others were scolded so much they couldn’t lift their heads, feeling guilty and panic-stricken, clearly not expecting Serena to recover the deleted footage.
This was a disaster...
The video froze at the store manager pointing at Serena’s nose, cursing her as a pauper. Jocelyn was so angry she trembled.
"Not only did you slander my Serena, but you verbally abused her! I don’t think you want to stay in Imperia any longer!"
The Everett Family was the richest in Imperia, and their influence was not to be underestimated. They could easily make anyone disappear.
"Mrs. Everett, we’re sorry, we truly know we’re wrong. Please, forgive us this once..."
The store manager and others were terrified, looking to Cassia for help.
These were all things she had them do! And didn’t she say Serena was just an unwelcome poor relative of the Everett Family?
Why would Mrs. Everett protect her like this...
