CHAPTER 250: YOUNG MASTER!

Raegar watched as his mother beamed at Zahara’s words and nodded. ’’Yes, she did, it wasn’t unexpected, the tension between those two has been building for years. I could see Alaric needed another wife, and Saki was the perfect choice.’’

The girls smiled at this as Alice questioned. ’’Is Jasper and my sister here?’’

Victoria shook her head. ’’Unfortunely, no, they were called south to deal with some desert raiders attacking the Vampires,’’ she revealed.

Dominique’s expression changed, and Raegar noticed it. He grabbed her soft hand in reassurance, making the young woman smile as Alice finally responded. ’’That’s not good, have the attacks been bad?’’

’’Only in a few towns and villages, but they’re being protected by the Imperial Army that left a few days ago,’’ Victoria answered. ’’Jasper and the girls are guarding one on the border, if I remember correctly.’’

Following that, the older woman then beamed, changing the subject. ’’Now enough of the heavy stuff, we’ll have breakfast, then head for Blackwood County, I believe the City Lord of Southwood wants to speak to your father.’’

Raegar nodded and began leading Yuki and the girls to his grandparents’ dining room after Elysia and Griffin vanished, taking Victoria with them. When Selene saw this, she looked confused. ’’Where have they gone?’’ she questioned.

’’They are having a family meeting,’’ Drusilla informed the group, catching everyone off guard.

Dominique narrowed her green eyes at the Dark Fairy. ’’How do you know that, Dru?’’

The blonde pointed in a random direction. ’’Their Aether is surrounding the room, the old fart knew I’d listen, so he blocked off his office.’’

When Raegar heard this, he began laughing but nodded. ’’They tend to do that if it’s about one of the younger Vaelthornes.’’

Just then, his father, Alaric, stepped into the room, followed by Saki, who looked no different than the day he left his home. The older woman’s face lit up at the sight of him. She rushed forward and hugged him before erupting into a happy greeting. ’’Young master! It’s so good to see you, I see you’ve been eating well, you’ve grown well.’’

Raegar was confused, but a smile appeared; he returned the gesture. ’’I’ve been good, Saki, just fighting, learning, and meeting these lovely ladies.’’

When the older cat woman heard this, she turned toward the six girls, only for her expression to change when she saw her daughter Yuki standing there. She shook her head, beaming. ’’It’s good that you two are a couple now, my kitten, it was about time,’’ she teased.

The group watched Yuki’s face turn bright red, her tail swaying even faster, showing her happiness. Raegar couldn’t help but smile as he added. ’’She was waiting for me to come of age, mother, it was my parents’ only condition, which she fulfilled.’’

Now it was Saki’s turn to become embarrassed, making everyone laugh, she swatted at him. ’’Stop teasing me, young master! It’s not fair when all these gorgeous girls are here.’’

Just then, Raegar’s senses flared to life, prompting him to cast a shield around them all as an explosion tore through the mansion, aimed at his grandparents and mother. But all he could hear was the sound of fights breaking out until a dreadful aura struck the group, and the girls threw up.

In a heart-stopping instant, Yuki and Saki hurled themselves in front of the group, their bodies quaking with raw terror, their every movement betraying their dread. Fear gripped their limbs, their efforts useless against the being before them. Raegar’s pulse thundered in his ears, his instincts screaming to act, when a cataclysmic force shattered the very air.

The wall exploded inward with a deafening roar, and through the splintered wreckage roared his grandfather, the legendary Lion of Dawnfire. His colossal frame slammed into a towering column, the impact reverberating like a war drum through the chamber, stone dust choking the air.

Before Raegar could process the devastation, a vision of horror staggered into view. His grandmother emerged from the haze, drenched in blood, and it was dripping in streams to the shattered floor. In her trembling arms, she cradled his mother’s limp, unconscious form, a sight that clawed at his very soul, igniting a wildfire of rage and despair.

He teetered on the brink of madness, only to freeze as his gaze locked onto a true nightmare. There, cloaked in shadow, stood an armored knight, an otherworldly aura pulsing from its form like an evil heartbeat. The air itself seemed to cower before the enemy’s power, a force so alien that even he felt a primal fear coil around his heart.

In a heartbeat, the knight’s rage vanished, leaving a void of dread that sent panic ripping through the chamber. Yuki and Saki stumbled back, their gasps echoing in the suffocating silence, while Raegar’s eyes darted wildly, searching for its target. The air crackled with terror, every soul frozen, until a flash of steel sliced through the haze.

Zahara stood defenseless as the knight rematerialized, its blade arcing toward her neck. But in a blur, Alaric surged forward, his body a living shield. His sword met the knight’s with a bone-rattling clang, the force of the blow meant to cleave his daughter-in-law in two now shuddering through him.

From the chaos, Drusilla erupted like a storm unleashed. Her golden locks darkened to an inky black, her once-sapphire eyes blazing a crimson inferno. With a scream, she unleashed a barrage of deadly Dark Blasts, each pulse of shadow-energy tearing through the air like a comet.

The knight, unmoved, raised an armored hand, and the blasts ricocheted harmlessly off its plating, scattering into the shattered hall like dying embers. Its aura pulsed stronger, a silent promise of doom, as Drusilla’s fury clashed against an enemy that seemed beyond mortal reach.

Raegar watched in horror as the Dark Fairy moved toward the enemy and hit it with several powerful punches, only for her to get backhanded and sent flying through the mansion until crashing to the ground. He went to move, but the knight glanced at him, and something kept him rooted to the spot.

’’Stay there and watch everything you love get turned to ash, Chosen One,’’ an eerie voice echoed out.

Suddenly, Drusilla vanished into a swirl of shadow, only to reappear in a blaze, her crimson eyes burning brighter than ever. At her side stood Griffin, his towering presence a beacon of strength. Blood streaked his grizzled face, yet his smile gleamed, a warrior reborn in the heart of battle.

He nudged Drusilla with a rough, affectionate grin, his voice booming like thunder over a war-torn plain. ’’Let’s show our boy what the two of us can do, granddaughter!’’

The words ignited the air, a rallying cry that sent a surge of fire through the Dary Fairy’s veins. Together, they faced the knight, its aura pulsing like a dark star. Griffin’s massive frame coiled with power, his bloodied fists clenched, while the blonde’s dark energy crackled around her, ready to unleash hell.

Raegar watched as the ground quaked when they launched into battle against the armored knight. Griffin roared, his massive fists hammering the knight’s armor, and blows cracked the air like thunder. Drusilla, her black hair whipping like a storm as searing Dark Blasts, each one striking, forcing the enemy to stagger under their teamwork.

The ground shuddered beneath their combined power, stone splintering as the knight’s aura flickered, its glowing eyes dimming under the attack. Raegar’s heart soared; victory seemed within their grasp, the knight’s undefeatable presence faltering before the unbreakable spirit of his kin.

But the tide turned within seconds. The knight’s armor pulsed due to a sinister light, its movements blurring into a whirlwind of speed. A sudden fist smashed into Griffin’s chest, sending the titan crashing through a column, blood spraying from his lips as he hit the ground with a bone-shattering thud.

Drusilla screamed, her crimson eyes blazing as she unleashed a torrent of shadow, but the knight deflected it with a contemptuous flick of its blade, closing the distance in an instant. It seized her by the throat, lifting her like a ragdoll, and slammed her into the shattered floor, the impact splitting the stone beneath.

Raegar’s blood ran cold, horror clawing at his chest as the knight brutalized his family, its power an unstoppable force. As the enemy raised its jagged sword, poised to cleave Griffin in two, a figure surged forward. Elysia, his grandmother, her blood-soaked robes billowing, threw herself between the blade and her husband.

Her sword, gleaming with fire, met the knight’s strike in a blinding clash of steel, the force sending sparks cascading like a meteor shower. Her eyes burned with defiance, her stance a fortress of resolve as she held the line, shielding his grandfather.

The air itself seemed to scream, torn between the knight’s dark power, and Elysia turned to the giant of a man trying to get up. ’’Who would’ve thought today I’d have to use my father’s sword?’’
