CHAPTER 291: TAKE THE ASSASSIN

Raegar and Dahlia continued drinking in the Highend Club until both were tipsy. He had drunk even more sake, making his vision blur, causing him to put away the drink and speak to the empress. ’’Let’s stop drinking, my head hurts, and I need to rest.’’

’’That’s fine,’’ she answered, giving him a bright smile. ’’We can stay here, it has its own room and the bed should be comfortable.’’

After that, Dahlia grabbed his hand and pulled Dante into the room, only for him to see a well-decorated bedroom. It was over the top; he didn’t care as the bed looked good. He was just about to strip out of his clothes, but was stopped as the older woman appeared in front of him.

Moments later, she stood on her tiptoes and pressed a soft kiss against his lips, sparking something inside. He grabbed her thin waist and returned the gesture. The two continued kissing as she pressed her big boobs against his chest, sending his lust soaring to new heights.

’How did I end up here?’ he mused.

Just then, the couple broke apart as her amber eyes were hazy and she leaned forward, seductively whispering. ’’Do you want to take the next step, handsome?’’

Raegar trembled at her words but nodded, promoting Dahlia’s smile to grow wider and her eyes full of lust. As she unbuttoned his shirt, exposing his chiseled muscles, she bit her lower lip, her eyes gleaming with desire. The sight stirred him, his arousal evident as it brushed against her leg, igniting her further.

Her hands trailed downward until reaching his member, and she began rubbing it above the fabric, driving him crazy. ’’Looks like someone is excited to see me,’’ she teased, lips brushing against his ears.

’’You know I am,’’ he groaned behind gritted teeth.

Dahlia’s lewd smile widened before she started kissing along his jaw, down his chest, while removing his shirt, throwing it on a nearby chair. She transformed into her normal self, making him gasp when he saw the dress clinging to her seductive curves. The sight intensified his lust for the older woman.

Just then, Raegar’s senses flared to life as someone burst through the window, aiming a dagger at Dahlia’s heart. With a ching, he deflected the attack, creating sparks to fly everywhere. The older woman’s eyes widened in shock, but he roared. ’’Fusion Overdrive!’’

Thanks to his skill, he was able to keep up with the assassin, his blades a blur, just as more assailants appeared, but Arthur and the Black Knight materialized, and a battle erupted in the room as the enemies were slaughtered, thanks to his moving so fast, they could barely keep up with his movement.

He fought the strongest attacker, blocking every strike while receiving slices all over his body, but that pushed him even further. Raegar parried one slash before hitting the enemy with a vicious headbutt. A sickening crunch rang out as the assassin stumbled back, and several Fusion Warriors jumped on him only to be destroyed.

Raegar’s heart thundered as the assassin’s cold, predatory eyes locked onto him, their gleam igniting his fury. This was no mere foe; this was the shadow who had dared to target his Dahlia. With a defiant roar, he readied his twin daggers, their edges glinting under the moonlit sky.

The clash that followed was a storm of steel and Aether, too fierce for the confines of the club. With an unspoken challenge, they took their battle to the rooftops of the capital, where the city sprawled beneath them like a tapestry of flickering lights. The night air crackled with tension as he faced the assassin atop the tiled spires.

Moments later, the enemy wielded a curved blade that sang with dark magic. Their duel erupted in a frenzy. Raegar’s daggers met the assassin’s strikes with years of skill, deflecting a flurry of blows that would have overwhelmed a eaker warrior. Sparks flew as metal screamed against metal, and the assassin’s barrage of spells.

Arcs of venomous green flame and shards of ice lit the sky. He danced through the onslaught, his instincts honed by years of survival, parrying and weaving with a grace that belied his rage. Fueled by the thought of Dahlia’s face, her eyes wide with fear yet brimming with trust in him, his fury reached its peak.

He unleashed the Aether within him, a primal force that surged through his veins like liquid starlight. His body became a blue blur, a whirlwind of motion too fast for mortal eyes to follow. The assassin, a seasoned killer, struggled to match his pace. Each of Raegar’s strikes was a thunderclap, his daggers flashing like comets as they sought the enemy’s heart.

The enemy parried desperately, their blade conjuring a cascade of sparks that rained down like embers, but his onslaught was unstoppable. The rooftop became a battlefield painted in chaos and blood. Raegar darted and spun, a force of nature unbound, striking with surgical precision.

His daggers carved shallow wounds across the assassin’s arms, legs, and torso, each cut drawing crimson streams that stained the tiles below. The assassin staggered, their breath ragged, yet their eyes burned with defiance. He pressed his advantage, his movements a blur, his heart pounding with the singular purpose of protecting Dahlia.

The city below seemed to hold its breath as words of the empress’s attempted assassination spread throughout. Raegar deflected several strikes when moving in close; the enemy didn’t know what happened as his daggers sank into the assassin’s stomach, but something exploded when the foe activated a rune.

Raegar was sent flying by something that hit him with its tail. He landed on two feet when seeing a massive snake lunging in his direction from a portal the assassin opened. He vaulted over the creature, but it instantly reacted and hit him again, sending him flying across the city, crashing through buildings until hitting the wall.

Blood erupted from his mouth as he crashed to the ground with a sickening thud, but he knew he couldn’t stay there and struggled to get up as the snake charged toward him, ready to strike again. This time, when the monster went to bite, he moved to the side, stabbing it through the eye before being dragged away as it rushed out of the city.

Without waiting, Raegar roared when sending a dozen Lightningfire Blasts into the creature’s skull as it reared up and slammed into the ground, breaking many ribs in the process, but he held on and continued attacking the monster just as the assassin appeared, and went to attack him.

Just then, Dahlia materialized in front of him, blocking the strike and hitting the snake with a powerful Aether Blast, tearing through scales and burrowing into its flesh. The older woman looked at him, a determined glint in her eyes. ’’Take the assassin, I’ll kill the snake, my love.’’

’’He’s nothing compared to the Devil Lord,’’ Raegar smirked, covered in blood but still ready to fight.

He surged toward the assassin and batted his weapon out of the way before driving one of his daggers through the bottom of his jaw. Raegar felt the Devil Aether radiating from the enemy as he passed away, making him hiss in annoyance as his gaze fell on the snake, his hate exploding.

This caught the monster’s attention, who headed straight for him, but he didn’t back down and charged toward it. When Raegar got close, the snake opened its mouth only to have him jump into it before wildly spinning as his weapons tore through its inside until he cut his way out the other side.

Raegar landed on two feet just as the Imperial Guard surrounded him; they didn’t know who he was, thanks to being covered in blood. His blue eyes glowed with so much Aether that the soldiers felt it. The snake was still alive, causing him to vanish using Flash Step, only to reappear high above its head before falling and burrowing through its skull.

After this, the giant snake dropped dead as a blue blur erupted nearby and headed in his direction just before Dahlia landed in front of him. A mix of worry and excitement filled her gaze when she suddenly wrapped her arms around his shoulders, whispering in a love-filled voice. ’’Thank you for saving me once again, handsome.’’

Just then, the soldiers rushed in to arrest Raegar, but were stopped when Dahlia’s bodyguards appeared, holding her seal. This stopped them in their tracks, their eyes widening after spotting the older woman who let him go and gave out an order. ’’Secure the street, get rid of the body, and repair anything damaged. I’m going back to my date!’’

Following that, she dragged him into a nearby alley before transforming into her disguise as one of her guards appeared, a worried expression crossing the woman’s face. ’’I’m sorry, my empress, we missed the assassins. They spotted you when scouting out the inn’s.’’

’’It doesn’t matter, no one was expecting a peeping Goblin would find us there,’’ Dahlia responded, smiling. ’’Now give us some time alone, we have to head back to the palace in the morning.’’
