CHAPTER 296: IT SHOULDN’T BE THAT HARD

Raegar woke up hours later thanks to the sound of a small battle erupting outside the tent. He was happy that the racket didn’t wake up to the two women as he used Flash Step to appeared outside. The Fusion Soldiers was fighting a massive Wyvern who was destroying them with its massive talon.

He summoned his dagger and rushed toward the monster, planning to turn it into a Fusion minion. When the beast spotted him, it let out a roar and lunged in his direction, prompting him to skid below the things jaws. While doing that, he began casting Stormfire Bullets into its flesh.

Explosions erupted, throwing the creatures head back just as Arthur and the Black Knight appeared above it. Their swords slice through the Wyvern thick hide, causing it to let out pain-filled shrieks that echoed across the forest. Just then, a series of powerful Aether Blasts slammed into its flank.

Raegar turned in the spells direction only to see Dahlia standing there, amber eyes glowed with power. Just then, a dozen Dark Blasts hit the Wyvern ina flurry of attacks thanks to Drusilla. He took advantage of the direction and Flash Stepped toward the creature and ducked under its wing.

Moments later, he plunged his daggers into the wyvern’s stomach, unleashing a torrent of Lightningfire Blasts. Aether surged through the creature, its body seizing under the overwhelming influx of power. His lips curled into a fierce grin as he channeled his skill, pouring his energy into the beast.

The wyvern glowed with an intense blue aura, then unleashed an earth-shattering roar as its form began to transform. It’s scales shimmered, shifting from their original hue to a deep red, like lava coursing through its hide. Its eyes blazed with a fierce crimson glow, pulsing with newfound ferocity.

Raegar felt the the air crackle around it as the beast’s aura surged, its power eclipsing its former Tier Seven strength, radiating a menacing intensity, making the ground tremble beneath his feet. He stepped back, his grin growing as the transformed wyvern loomed larger, its muscles rippling.

It let out another bone-rattling roar, the sound laced with a primal hunger, as if the Aether had awakened something ancient and unstoppable inside it. After that, the Fusion Wyvern turned to him, its eyes narrowed before bowing it’s large body in a respesctful gesture as the soldiers and knights returned to their unknown realm.

Dahlia and Drusilla were shocked at thus, causing the brunette to glance at him. ’’You can turn monsters into your soldiers?’’

’’Yes,’’ Raegar answered, grinning. ’’It’s one of the many perks of being the Fusion King.’’

Following that, he packed up the camp and turned to the duo after sending the Wyvern back with the others. ’’Do you want to clear this dungeon? I want to get the new soldiers?’’

They instantly agreed before the trio headed into a nearby cave where the entrance to the unknown dungeon was. Raegar was the first to step through and entered an abandoned city, confusing him considering they were in a forest seconds ago. When the Dark Fairy beauty appeared, she looked around. ’’Oh, this is a Lost Age dungeon. It represents the people who came before Dawnfire.’’

’’A Lost Age one?!’’ he exclaimed, shocked. ’I’ve read about them, it’s said they were far more advanced then we are.’’ ’’They were,’’ Dahlia added. ’’If I remember my studies correctly, it’s said their greatest minds created Aether-Tech, magic and machine combined to make life much easier then it currently is.’’

’’What happened to them?’’ Raegar inquired, a curious glint made the older woman smile.

Dahlia was about to speak but Drusilla interrupted. ’’They flew too close to the sun and burned their wings. A pity really, this world could have been something else if the nobles didn’t get greedy.’’

He was confused and the duo could see it by his expression, prompting the empress to explain. ’’It’s said they started expriementing with their bodies and subjects to improve their life spans even though Aether does that for us.’’

The older woman looked at a rundown house on the corner of one street and continued. ’’It’s said they pushed it too far and the world was displeased, sending destruction for them. Scholars believe it took three nights too wipe the continent clean of all the previous peoples.’’

’’And they ende up inside dungeons? Or is this place that old it remembers who came before?’’ Raegar asked once she finished speaking.

’’Yes, it’s the only reason we know their story,’’ Drusilla answered. ’’The dungeon sometimes gives old books or scrolls that reveals part of our lands history. It’s fascinating really, things like that can be sold for more gold then the place gives.’’

’’Interesting,’’ he muttered. ’’Let’s see if we can find some of these books, it shouldn’t be that hard to clear this place.’’

Following that, Raegar summoned the Fusion Soldiers, Knights and Wyvern just as the monsters appeared. They were hundreds of Tier Five Cave Spiders that washed over the surrounding buildings, heading straight for them. When the two women saw this, they started casting waves of magic into the swarm.

Explosions rocked the ground as Raegar summoned his daggers, rushing around the battlefield, killing everything within reach. The blades infused with fire and thunder Aether killed monsters all over the place. The energy flowed back into his body, allowing him to keep summoning the Fusion Soldiers who were destroyed by the spiders.

Dahlia didn’t stand idle, her magic erupted. Glowing blue orbs appeared around here and started shooting the monsters, bolts of deadly Aether sliced through the air burrowing into their bodies. The dungeon creatures were overwhelmed, forcing the place to stop spawning them as it was wasting its energy.

The Fusion Wyvern crashed behind him, breathing heavily thanks to all the fighting it did, the knights were beside him like two bodyguards, making him chuckle. Raegar turned toward Drusilla who was landing not far. She was bombing the monsters from above as they couldn’t get to her.

’’Good work, Dru,’’ he praised the gorgeous blonde.

When the Dark Fairy heard this, her face lit up and her big blue eyes sparkled with love as she lunged at him. Her limbs wrapping around his body before she gave him a passionate kiss, sending shivers down his spine. They continued kissing untill a cough broke the couple out of it.

Drusilla clibed down for her, straightening out her dress as she glanced at Dahlia, a grin crossing her pink lips. ’’You can smooch him now, empress,’’ she said.

’’Stop calling me that, you little gremlin,’’ the brunette retorted, holding back a laugh.

Following that, Raegar ushered them into the dungeon while the Fusion army defended them. The Cave Spiders couldn’t get close thanks to the Wyvern spotting them, it descended toward the attackers, tearing them apart using its massive talons and teeth. He was impressed with the creatures strength and wanted more like it.

They continued clearing out the monsters, Dahlia and Drusilla both joined the fight, using their magic to kill many of the Cave Spiders and not giant black ants that chittered down the tunnel they just stepped inside. He stepped in front of the group and cast several Lightningfire Storms.

Red fire washed out and swirled down the pathway, burning away the beasts without any effort. When the women saw this, their eyes widened at the ferocity of the Aether that killed the enemy’s in an instant. One that was done, Raegar began casting Stormfire Bullets into the remaining stragglers.

Their bodies vanishing back into the dungeon, allowing the trio to continue clearing the floors until reaching the bosses room. He had take over the fighting, the thrill of battle excited gim. The women quickly realized this and stepped baclk, allowing him to have his fun.

Raegar summoned his daggers when spotting the boss, it was a massive scorpion, lined with spikes. His red eyes gleamed with excitement as he sent Aether into his weapons, letting them glow to life. One red and the other yellow, catching the monsters attention thanks to the power radiating from him.

Without waiting, he vanished and appeared behind the unaware creature and cast Titanfall, sending the metal rod into the air using his Wind Aether just as the thing turned in his direction and tried to attack using its pincers. He ducked under the strike before cutting through its carapace.

Green blood flew everywhere as he jumped back and dropped the metal rod on top of the boss. An explosion erupted, sending him flying but Drusilla was there, smiling as she caught him. ’’I got you, Rae,’’ she said.

Just then, Raegar was about to reply but his vision blurred, then blackened, the world slipping away as his body crumpled to the ground as the worlds Aether rushed into his body like a storm. He awoke in a arena, the air thick.

A man stood before him, cloaked in darkness, his gaze piercing through his soul like a blade. The stranger’s voice was low, resonant, cutting through the silence. ’’You can fool yourself, Raegar Blackwood. But to unlock the true Fusion powers, you must let go of what’s holding you back from reaching the top."
