Chapter 323: Damn, Night Creatures
CHAPTER 323: DAMN, NIGHT CREATURES
Raegar finished setting up the tent and starting a fire ten minutes later, thanks to doing it so much. Nivara gave him a smirk as she teased. ’’Looks like someone is experienced at outdoor life, where did a pampered noble learn such things?’’
’’I’ve been on the road or wilderness more than my home, Niv,’’ he replied, chuckling. ’’My big sisters and brother think I’m a wild person as they attend the fancy parties and tea parties, whereas I hate that stuff.’’
The Dark Elf giggled at his answer but nodded. ’’Good, some of the Dawnfirian nobility are annoying and need to be killed.’’
Raegar laughed as he agreed. ’’Yes, like my father’s neighbour that put a hit out on me, but I can’t complain because it brought you to me,’’ he said.
Following that, Nivara suddenly stood up and straddled his lap, a smirk crossing her face as she whispered into his ear. ’’I’m glad I took that job, but once I get time, I’ll return the favor to that stupid Count.’’
’’No need,’’ he waved her away. ’’I’ll send the Fusion Knights to deal with them when the time is right. I want the Count to relax, think I’ve let it go before I attack.’’
’’Devious but a good idea,’’ she answered, pulling out some Dark Elf Ale and handing him some.
Raegar shook his head. ’’No thank you, I’ve gone off drinking and now love eating,’’ he said, taking out some dumplings.
They shared a quiet moment as he began to eat, the Elf nestled on his lap, sipping her drink. He suddenly pulled the young woman closer, making her head rest against his shoulder. A soft smile appeared as she skimmed gentle kisses along his neck, each one sending a cascade of shivers through him and coaxing a warm grin to his lips.
Following that, Nivara’s lips lingered at the hollow beneath his ear, her kisses slow and deliberate. Then her sharp teeth grazed the tender skin of his neck, just enough pressure to sting, to spark. A groan rumbled from his chest as his hands slid up the curve of her waist, over her ribs, until his palms cupped the warm weight of her breasts.
Raegar squeezed gently, thumbs brushing across the hardening nipples beneath the cloth. She arched into his touch, a soft, pleased moan vibrating against his throat, her own hands tightening on his shoulders as if to anchor them both in the rising heat. ’’Mmmmghh~~ Getting bold, human,’’ she teased.
Just then, a horrifying howl echoed across the night sky, causing his eyes to widen as he quickly summoned a hundred Fusion Soldiers alongside Arthur and Shadow, who appeared out of nowhere, standing beside the log they were on. This shocked Nivara; she knew he could summon soldiers, but not that fast.
Without needing to speak, Arthur vanished only to reappear on the other side of the warriors as the knight sliced a humanoid creature in half as it lunged out of the shadows. Suddenly, a battle erupted around them as the night monsters joined the fight, but were killed instantly as more Fusion Soldiers appeared.
Raegar’s let out a chuckle as her eyes were wide with shock. He caught her chin between thumb and forefinger, tilting her face to his, and claimed her plump lips. A tremor raced down Nivara’s spine; she melted into his embrace, hands sliding over his chest, fingers curling against the heat of him as she kissed him back.
While the Fusion Army slaughter the Night Creatures they kissed until Nivara broke away, grinning as she teased. ’’Am I that kissable? You seem to love doing it?’’
’’I do and you’re,’’ he answered.
Seconds later, Raegar leaned forward and bit into the Dark Elf’s neck, earning him a moan as she clung to his body. ’’Mmmmmmm~~.’’
Following that, Nivara suddenly stood up as her body trembled. ’’I’m not ready for anything, Rae. I do love the kissing though.’’
Raegar stood up, giving her an honest smile. ’’And I’m not going to rush you into anything, Niv. I’m enjoying getting to know you.’’
’’Thank you,’’ she responded, clearly happy as she downed some ale. ’’Not many men can handle that sort of teasing, or so I’m told by the aunties.’’
’’Well most would get annoyed but it doesn’t bother me,’’ he reassured with a confident expression. ’’I can wait because its more fun that way, I don’t enjoy myself if the woman isn’t into it.’’
’’Is that the reason why I hear the others screams most nights?’’ she teased, curiosity appearing in her beautiful red eyes.
’’Yepp,’’ Raegar ignored her jab and decided to embrass her. ’’You hear them screaming my name and when it’s time, you’re sexy voice will be added to the chorus then you shall be my assassin wife.’’
When Nivara heard this, her dark grey face went darker as she blushed but nodded in agreement. ’’Yes, I’ve never had sex or done anything like that. If we get to that point don’t expect much.’’
’’Fair enough,’’ he answered.
Following that, the duo continued sitting there as Raegar continued eating his dumplings as Nivara downed a few cups of ale. He turned his attention to the sky while leaning back on the log, seeing countless stars passing by as the Dark Elf commented. ’’Wait until we’re down south, the heavens are beautiful from the peaks.’’
’’You’ll have to show me when we get there,’’ Raegar responded, a smile curling his lips. ’’We can camp out on one of the rocks that jut out from the land, I heard no one has climbed them.’’
Nivara looked shocked but nodded. ’’That’s correct, many have tried but vanished during the expedition, our king stopped sending people,’’ she revealed.
’’I read it in a book from a famous Dawnfirian explorer that traveled south,’’ Raegar said, remembering the book in his grandfathers library. ’’Many stories stuck in my head and have never left.’’
’’We can explore it while the others are in classes,’’ she added, smiling. ’’They want you to take a break from the fighting and enjoy yourself while traveling to the Western Islands.’’
Raegar chuckled at her words but couldn’t help but agree as he stood up after feeling the sleepyness hit him. ’’I’m going to turn in, Niv. Don’t stay up too late,’’ he said.

Nivara watched Raegar stumble into the tent and muttered. ’’Why is it you who changed my opinion on humans?’’
She shook her head as the Blue Knight appeared in front of the fire, surprising her but the warrior questioned, a suspicious undertone laced in his voice. ’’Do you still plan to kill our lord?’’
’’Our?’’
That’s when she felt a presence coming from behind her. Nivara turned her head only to see the Black Knight standing there, ready to strike, this scene made her laugh, she calmed down and casually asked, unbothered by their paranoia. ’’No I do not. If you haven’t noticed, we’ve gotten close?’’
’’I’ve seen it but an assassin could have other motives,’’ Arthur retorted.
Nivara rose with a sigh, turning to face the Tier Ten knight, her expression resolute. ’’What do you expect me to say? That I love him already? That he sets my blood on fire? No. Yes, he’s handsome and I like him, but we’ve only just met. I’m not tumbling into bed because he’s infamous or has a harem.’’
She exhaled sharply, as if the words tasted bitter. ’’I may kill for coin, but I don’t sell myself. Even a Dark Elf craves something real. And Raegar Blackwood? He savors the kisses, nothing more. Love isn’t on the table anytime soon.’’
’’Don’t judge our lord so quickly,’’ Shadow warned. ’’He may not love you but he likes you, otherwise you wouldn’t be traveling alongside the Fusion King.’’
’’Maybe so but that can wait until the future,’’ she replied, taking a swig of her homelands drink. ’’We’ll see what happens when we head south.’’
The two Fusion Knights stood silently, watching her as the blue one nodded, holding out his hand. ’’I’m Arthur, the right hand of the Fusion King.’’
Nivara was confused but shrugged as she took the knights hand. ’’It’s a pleasure to meet you.’’
She turned to the Black Knight, who nodded before vanishing along with the blue one, confusing her even more, causing her to sigh as she made her way over to the tent, stepping inside to rest for the night thanks to a spinning head.

Raegar woke up the next morning, only to feel Nivara cuddling up to him with a small smile on her face. He used Flashstep to get out of the sheets, not disturbing the sleeping Dark Elf as he stepped outside where the ring of Fusion Soldiers stood firm, piles of creature bodies cirlced their camp.
’’Damn, Night Creatures,’’ he muttered in frustration. ’’I hate the things.’’
Using his Fire Aether, Raegar burned away the corpses as he didn’t want to look at them or being used against him down the road. Once the ashes floated off, he sat down and began making some tea to warm himself up.
